    Great Review. Thank you. I completely agree on the DIVEVOLK SeaTouch 4 Max being the best and most complete smartphone housing available at the moment. And I've tested quite a few housings myself, but by far not as many as you have. 😉 Well done mate 👍🏻

    Brilliant review - I’ve been looking for something to replace my original Weefine housing as it doesn’t fit my iPhone 14. I’ve been toying with the idea of the Divevolk and I think this is the confirmation I needed. Really great, simple, easy to follow review that nailed all the key components for me. Thanks very much. I’ve been a Diveroid user for a few years. It has worked well in many dives and locations. I agree that the app is limiting and it would be nice to have filters. It is nice for snapshot-level photography and videos. I have, but have barely used, the sidelight mounts. It is nice to have it as a backup computer.

    Thank you for your very informative videos! I discovered your channel when I was searching for reviews of the new Oceanic+ iPhone housing. Oceanic worked with Apple and made the Apple Watch Ultra a dive computer a year ago. Now, they're doing the same thing with this housing and iPhone app. Is there any chance you might do a review of the Oceanic+ iPhone housing and app?

    Great review I can’t believe you bought all those 😅.Divevolk interesting what you said about it doesn’t work or work well with dive gloves.I dive in Scotland so need dive gloves. I have the SeaLife double tray with the sea dragon lights I could easily buy the SeaLife phone housing but seen other divers with it and it looks like a pain to set up and there alarms setting off for no reason. I would buy the Divevolk but it would not fit the SeaLife tray and now not sure as you mentioned about the dive gloves.what to do 😮‍💨

    • @watertrek360
      @watertrek360  Рік тому +1

      I actually have gotten the DiveVolk to work with gloves, but you have to be very patient. We seem to do similar diving. I dive in the northeast US, Long Island Sound, New York, cold dark wreck diving. My challenge with Divevolk and gloves, is that my gloves are rough, for conditions up here. Divevolk says to be careful with membrane to not efface it. Well, I always worry that my glove will do exactly that. I am looking for smoother seamless gloves, to reduce any scraping, but it's still a concern. Safe diving, one of these days I'll get to Scapa Flow.

    @gmiura8208 Рік тому

    Great video, congrats! Nowadays most iPhones or action cameras are at least IP68 so I always wonder if that alone would not be a protection against leak in a case under 30m for example. Not sure if the pressure would cause damage but... Wouldn't an iPhone survive with a little water inside? Not saying that you should test it but I was curious :)

    • @watertrek360
      @watertrek360  Рік тому +1

      I would never take my iPhone or any phone into salt water. IP68 only means it is good to a depth of roughly 8 feet or so for 30 minutes. Once you've past 14 feet or so as a diver, forget it. Regardless of depth rating. with a phone costing over $1,000 i am not willing to trust it.

    • @gmiura8208
      @gmiura8208 Рік тому

      @@watertrek360 I agree. I was just saying that due to the fact that it is IP68, a leak in the case would not destroy the phone. I had the first model of the insta360 one x that I lost flooded because of a defect on the waterpoof case. I am now more confident using my Insta X3 because it is waterproof and an eventual leak in the case would not be a big issue.

    For an amateur like myself what would you recommend? I’m planning my first scuba dive and I have an old iPhone 8 and currently use an iPhone 11. Supposedly I won’t be going deeper than 60 feet.

    • @Tec-360-Videoland
      @Tec-360-Videoland Рік тому

      As a new diver I strongly suggest you do not go deeper than 60 feet until you get some more experience. I would also spend your first couple dives concentrating on what you are doing and whats around you before adding taking photos. However if you do the Divevolk will allow you to use older phones.

    Can someone explain the vacuum pump? Why is it needed?

    • @watertrek360
      @watertrek360  Рік тому

      There are several reasons, depending upon manufacturer. 1). Pre-use water test to ensure water resistance and valid o-ring seal. 2). Moisture control / Anti-Fogging. Phones get hot. Underwater in an enclosed area, that leads to internal fogging. Some housings, like for the GoPro, you have moisture desiccants to soak up the extra moisture. 3). Alarm system. If a seal or leakage occurs, some housings will alert with an alarm.

    Hello,
    Question about the Divevolk, have you been using it while having a screen protector on your phone? I have read that the touch screen won't work with a screen protector. It seems like a hassle having my screen protector removed every time I go for a dive. What is your personal recommendation/experience?

    • @watertrek360
      @watertrek360  Рік тому +1

      I have used it with screen protectors. Some are better than others. But there is a slight degradation. Make sure assistive touch is on, and press a little more firmly.

    • @MarkoOrlov
      @MarkoOrlov Рік тому

      @@watertrek360 Thanks for the quick reply. I want to clarify - you have the iPhone 13 Pro Max and while having a screen protector on were you still able to use the housing just had to press more firmly? I have an apple screen protector from one of their stores. While having the screen protector on did you already use your custom solution of putting a broken cut-in-half screen protector in the housing - to press it up more against the membrane? Or did you see results even without your custom solution - by having a screen protector on and just enabling assistive touch and pressing more firmly? Cheers

    • @Tec-360-Videoland
      @Tec-360-Videoland Рік тому +1

      @@MarkoOrlov I have an iPhone 13 PRO, and now an iPhone 14 Pro. I initially did have touch issues, both with and without screen protector. Taking off screen protectors is a pain. Hence why I added the "shim". Try it with screen protector first. If you have no success, you can always take it off

Remain virtually the same, regardless of most smart phones. If and when I switch from iPhone I might redo the analysis. Thanks for the feed back.
