They are FINISHING powders, not foundation powder, not setting powder, not blotting powder. It should be the last step of makeup before a setting spray, if you use one. It is not something you can necessarily see right away, but a HUGE difference in photography of any kind, if you are at work in ugly florescent light, outside, etc. Places where there is different kinds of light.
Ethereal Light - sheer/cool. Moonlight glow. I use this under my eyes interchangeable with Diffused light, if you don't want them both, try them on at the store, one under each eye, snap a pic of yourself. I use one of these 2 shades everyday.
Diffused Light - Mimic morning light. light yellow. Diffuses light particles to make less harsh. Helps with redness. I use this to sweep under my eyes right before my mascara & lashes AFTER a dusting of setting powder after concealer. NOT a setting powder. I use a large fluffy brush, light sweep. On center of forehead too.
Dim Light - soft neutral beige. Blurs imperfections. Mimics being in soft focus. If I am going into an office building where I know there is harsh lighting, like florescent bulbs, I take a large brush (I love IT Cosmetics large powder brush) and dust this all over all areas not covered by ethereal or diffused light. I just tap the large brush 2 or 3 times into the powder.
Mood Light - soft sheer lavender. Mimics "mood" lighting, warm pink glow. Forgiving & brightening. I love this in really bright lights, more like when you are at a night baseball game or something like that (that uneven greenish weird light). I take a large brush (I love IT Cosmetics large powder brush) and dust this all over all areas not covered by ethereal or diffused light.
Incandescent Light - pearlescent powder, pale, light beige with neutral undertones, soft ivory shimmer. Mimics a celestial glow. I really consider this the only "highlighting" powder of them all. I only use on tops of cheek bones. Doesn’t emphasize pores or make the skin appear oily.
Luminous Light - champagne pearl. Mimics candle light. Gives a nice luminous glow. This is the one I use the most when I am hanging outdoors. It warms up my face without being too bronze.
Radiant Light - the darkest of the powders, golden beige. Mimics golden light. Adds warmth. I only use this over my bronzer. I am light/medium complexion, I find this too dark for all over for me.
Ethereal Glow - described as cool pink
Diffused Heat - described as Vibrant poppy
Dim Infusion - described as subdued coral
Luminous Flush - described as golden fuchsia
Radiant Magenta - described as golden fuchsia
Mood Exposure - described as soft plum

Thank you for sharing - I watched soooo many reviews on this product and NOT ONE person (until you came along :-D) can give specific review on the Hourglass powders! You've just saved me $240 (NZ currency) because I now know exactly which shades I am buying (I am getting The trio palette and individual Mood Light). I LOVE your dead honesty and I can tell you put a lot of careful thought and hard work into every video. You are definitely number one every day go to "have to watch" beauty guru on my list. I am also glad you are not some dumb 20 yr olds (some of them give out really tacky makeup pointers on UA-cam and over half of the time they don't even have any insight to what's in the product, how to correctly use them and how they (the products) are different compared to different brands. I am really happy to say I never have to "roll my eyes" every time I watch your channel. (Thank F kin god!)

I am extremely fair & can use Dim Light as bronzer to warm up my skin tone. I love the way it blends. These Powders are magic. Just bought one of their blushes & strobe powder & can't wait to try them!

Hey... I'm here from your VIB recommendations be aise I have been contemplating purchasing an Hourglass blush. Aside from that, I am OBSESSED with Cadbury Mini Eggs... I have been since I was a teen. This year I found ones with white "candy" in the center rather than milk chocolate, soooo good! I also read your post on IG and am going to make more of an effort to comment on videos!! The is the best video about these powders. I finally got to understand how to use these powders. Since I have bought the pallet and Ethereal Light. And I'm so in love with them. Now off to pick a blush. Lol the It Cosmetics brushes really do work perfectly... I use the Jumbo you mention in the video & Wand Ball Powder brush sometimes. They both work well.
I love this powders ! I only have the trio , all are beautiful ! I have the lavender one in my Sephora Cart & use the incandescent light to highlight all the time , so natural .
I am so on the same boat with you when it comes to blushes!! I was in denial about how many blushes I had until I actually counted them all. 72 blushes!!! I was like who has 72 blushes?? But I guess you do too:) So glad I am not alone in my obsession!

Exactly what you said happened! I started using the dim light over my fountain & a few people were like ‘you look different but I can figure out why & have you changed your foundation as your skin looks amazing.’
Background music is WAY too loud!! Such great information, but it's hard to focus with the music.....

I know this video is older but I just bought luminous light. Since they are finishing powders do they go on after blush too? Or before blush.
What do you think would look good on medium brown skin? the blush
+Stephanie Nicole I do have a question before I go picking blushes. Do you think it matters if I'm wearing day the Dim Light all over my face and then I use the Mood Exposer blush ? Or would I be better off using the matching blush to what Lighting Powder I've used to finish my face ? As I mentioned below I have 4 of the Lighting Powders and am just wondering should I be matching the blushes to them when wearing ? Thanks.

What do you reccomend for me to start with when it comes when it comes to powder? Or maybe the pallete is the better deal?:) I'm also thinking of trying the blushes sense it's my favorite makeup item. Whitch do you think is the most flattering shade? I wanted to get the Blush pallete but it's not really available anymore : (

Great video. I FINALLY invested in one of these. I am blonde and fair with blue eyes. I got the diffused light. I think I want to get another and perhaps a blush too. I got away from make up for a while and now I am back in......with a vengeance!! I love love LOVE good quality.

You’re so helpful in helping me select my blush. I’m medium to tan skin and I wish I would’ve done some research before I ordered them through Boxycharm on sale for $12 I got Ethereal but I think I should’ve gotten diffused heat.
A sales girls was trying to sell me one of these yesterday. I held of purchasing to take some time to think about it as it cost $67aud. I came to your channel knowing I could get a very informed opinion of this product. I have pale, extremely dry skin and because of this avoid setting my foundation with powder as it tends to look cake and settle in to my fine lines, I also hate the way powder clings to my peach fuzz and makes it more noticeable. The girl at the store recommended this product in dim light because It was more finely milled and contained no talc and would be less drying and be less noticeable on the fuzz. Seeing as this is not a setting powder, do you think it's a worthwhile purchase? and do you think there's a better choice out there?
i just got the travel size Ethereal Light from Sephora and i just love it. I haven't had the opportunity to really wear it as i literally got it today, but its so pretty and the compact just feels so sleek and solid. It just doesn't feel cheap or cheaply made. Is it crazy that i love the packaging so much before i even get to enjoy the product? But i can't wait until tomorrow when i can wear it out.
I'm so bummed you can only get incandescent light in the palette. I've almost hit pan on that one and barely touched the other two in the palette. It's my go to high light.

Arlene Kelleher Yay Arlene! I am glad you like them. These are good to get one at a time because of the price, then once you have them, they last forever because of how much you get. So it makes the sting of the cost a little easier to deal with lol. Their blushes are my favorite on earth

Guess what product I bought because of this video?? The Cadbury Mini Eggs!!! Lolol. I went to walmart ‘cause I was craving chips and saw these on the way and remembered Stephanie! Hahaha. They’re delicious! I’m never eating M&Ms again.
I'm obsessed with these powders but don't know which other ones I should try. I have fair skin with neutral to yellow undertones. I have diffused light powder and mood exposure for blush. Any other colors would you recommend?
+Katie Rose I am fair as well & I can use them all. I love ethereal, but diffused is similar, so you don't need both. If I were you I would get Dim Light next, then mood light. The blushes I love. Mood exposure is my favorite, but then I love. I like Dim Infusion & Ethereal Glow too. Both are very subtle, but perfect for natural glow on fair/light girls
If I were to buy only one, which would you recommend? I would prefer one that I could use all over my face. I'm 61 years old - will they look good on me?

I don't have a lot of blemishes except some redness on the side of my nose and I can get away on a busy week with only wearing mascara, concealer, setting powder, blush, and my Hourglass Diffused Light powder. Since it's a pale yellow, it is awesome to cover redness. I hit pan on mine and it's almost all gone.
I definitely work under those ugly yellow lights. Shopping the Sephora VIB sale and I'm trying to decide which one I want. Thank you so much for taking the time to do this video!

40 minutes is ok with me! :-) I really appreciate this. I love my ambient lighting trio- it is like Photoshop in a palette. I use the middle one to set my concealer, the radiant around the edges, and a deftly applied one on the left as my all over powder. I love the IT brushes too! And....oh my I love those mini eggs. Way too much. Oops now I hear I shouldnt be using that middle one to set lol...what do you suggest instead?
