forbidden west is probably the most amount of improvements made to a sequel but zero dawn still stands as the most complex and amazing storyline i have ever experienced in any form of entertainment media

Forbidden West is beautiful but I think it suffered a lot because they were more interested in making these changes to the graphics instead of being focused on the story and quests design. I would prefer a good story over anything else. If they had continued with the same style as in The Frozen wilds I would’ve been content, it looked amazing already, but they wanted to make everything more realistic, which I find a bit boring personally, but then the story and quests feeling all over the place didn’t help, I never felt really as excited as I did on Zero Dawn to continue with the main story. I also think the fights were epic in Zero Dawn, we didn’t had anything similar in HFW.
It's not that young Aloy can hold the bow better, in the new game they just improved the realism: Aloy gets tired of pulling the arc and her muscles starts to shake from the effort, just like in real life.

Only recently I started to play HZD on PS5, on the same day I bought HFW, tbh I was more impressed with HZD than HFW, because ZD looks really good to this day, considering it came out in early 2017 and being open world. Never progressed from the first area where you start to control her in FW, but from what I seen in this video, you cant deny how amazing HFW looks, everything looks even more natural. IMO the biggest change, to me is the gliding, too many times on HZD I have to fall from high places because I have gone exploring, and still being careful, lose health, thank god they introduced that on FW!
You know my one issue with Horizon Zero dawns enviroment is that it always felt cluttered with stuff despite how large it was (machine sites, bandit stuff). Idk if Horizon Forbidden west is the same, but it seems a lot more spacious and open.
I'd say it's pretty cluttered as well. I havent even gotten to half the map and I'm 35 hours in lol. Idk, there is a lot of different cites and campsites and machine sites and old ruins everywhere. There is also some quiet parts but yea its pretty overwhelming but I'm taking my time.
Horizon Forbidden West is a true net gen game if you play it in 4k (Picture Quality, not Performance). Sadly i cant play it in 30 fps. The step up from the previous game is huge and Zero Dawn is still a very good looking game.
I don’t understand how people can feel this way when zero dawn was literally 4K 60 fps on ps5. They never should have released it this way. It’s a beautiful game no doubt but 30fps should not be a thing moving forward. Anyone who’s ok with it is only because they don’t know what it can feel like to play higher
@@mryesman4189 actually some of us DO know the difference. It's just that we don't care about playing in 60 fps all the time like most of you do. People like me choose 30 for a more cinematic experience. 60 fps is very nice, but I don't always need it.
I finished the final mission last night, man… the story was a little better in ZD imo, but just about every other aspect was improved. Definitely a worthy sequel.
I mean I wouldn’t call the charger horn chainsaw not spinning a flaw in ZD, if anything it’s weird it’s activated in FW seeing as it’s not actually being used for anything in that moment

Well, chargers aren't meant to be "scrapping metal like scrappers". They're acquisition class, sure, but they're main function is to convert things like grass into the biofuel, blaze. The chainsaws are likely for cutting/breaking down trees if necessary. I figured the reason they weren't functioning In ZD, was because it wasn't breaking anything down, it had no reason to be on.
RDR2 is still so much more detailed. RDR2 and TLOU2 are industry leading in that regard. But that doesn't make HFW a bad game at all. It's just got less open world details.

The mechanics are clunky and the fast travel options are ass. I played 18 hours really really trying to like it. It just was like too damn slow and most of the time I saw no people. Also 30 fps on console doesn't help so if a next gen patch comes I'll pick it back up or at least try. I wanted to like it but it just started so slow and I wasn't really interested in the plot. I kinda had some spoilers not many. To me the first one was way better. The second one was horse riding and camping simulator. Which is cool and all but some of the stuff just felt like why is this in a game.
The hair you see on aloy's face in forbidden west is what's referred to as "peach fuzz". I remember seeing people complain about this detail, saying it made her look masculine, which is kind of dumb, because almost all women have this type of facial hair, only difference is that it's very small and nearly unnoticeable. I'm not really sure if guerrilla games thought this was a necessary detail, but it doesn't bother me because its not visible in gameplay and only visible in photo mode.I think thats what matters.
It is great to see how far technology has come since the last installment. The environments were amazing a few years ago but this is on a while new level, especially the waves that pummel the beach, I've never seen it done this good in a game. The only thing I can't wrap my head around is the Aloy model. For some reason the facial texture and expressions look a bit 'off'.
This definitely happened in HZD too, and it was annoying there as well. I think HZD had lower geometric complexity on the ground though, so there were fewer pebbles for Aloy to get stuck on.

Why are you playing in performance mode? The visible shimmering effect from the checkerboard rendering is really bringing down the whole graphical fidelity of this game.
of course the newer game is better and looks better cuz they fixed the mistakes from previous one which is good they learning on their mistakes but i think that developers should pay more attention to little details or they just dont think its important to do every little detail cuz they want to release the game on time so they just focus on important stuffs but sometimes little details is what makes game more enjoyable and fun
I absolutely love both Horizon games story-wise, but in terms of gameplay and design I would prefer Forbidden West over Zero Dawn ANY TIME. Fighting machines is just so much more fun in the second one, at least the way I see it. And the fact that we can explore a whole underwater world and even fly on a Sunwing's back only adds to that.
Most vegetation in HZD does interact with the protagonist... It's definitely been improved a ton in the new game, especially with grass itself interacting as well, but yeah, you might have overlooked that
