    In todays video we sit down and answer our most common questions:
    1. Where did you find the land for sale?
    2. Why was it abandoned?
    3. How big is the land?
    4. What services does the land have?
    5. Do you have planning to build on the land?
    6. How much did you pay for the land?
    7. How did you afford it to buy it outright?
    8. Do you guys work/if so what do you do?
    9. Can I buy or rent a plot off you or move onto your land in my campervan?
    10. Why aren’t repairing the old caravans or selling them?
    11. Are you planning to reopen it as a caravan park?
    12. Why did you decide on Wales and this area in particular?
    13. Where were you living before?
    14. Why aren’t you using proper tools?
    15. What breed is your dog? Is she a great dane?
    16. What are your plans for the site?

      Ditto. When we were young, we worked hard, did things to improve our condition, etc., and these days we just keep hearing about how "young people today" don't do any of this. I love to see counterexamples. I look forward to progress, and success, and happiness in this.

      The joy of being a natural grafter in a society of wingeing and bleating wet blankets is that without even lifting a finger, you're already out in front because this lot have recused themselves from the race of life before the start line.
      If anyone needs more persuading that this appalling waste of spermatozoa and gametes exists and thinks thus, I'd refer them to the majority of the questions in this very vid. A gentle reminder that ⅘ of the answers are to be had by simply watching the video.

    Great plan and huge project! You both have courage and strength to look through all that mess to see your beautiful future. Here in Canada, we bought a 1912 old but solid two story house for super, super cheap. It took a lot of time and sweat to gut it completely and fully re-insulate...which is on going. Definitely worth it as we only heat it now with two electric heaters. The natural gas heater in the basement is not needed except when -40C. Last spring after Russia invaded, I planted 80 potatoes, 4 fruit trees and 10 rhubarb around the property. I hope you do the same for food and economic security. I remember in 1993, we lived in Chester, Cheshire and times were tight. My mother organized us four boys with backpacks and we walked to picked up hundreds of pounds of windfall pears at Bishops high-school. We ate pear jam every day that year. Best of luck:)

    Have you thought about using some of the area as an outdoor wedding venue? Alot can be sculpted with your existing forest, build an outdoor bar from palets etc. Also, are you building a barn/warehouse on site so that you no longer have to rent from the council?

    • @CampOutWest
      @CampOutWest  Рік тому

      Thanks Anna, lovely idea, we wouldn't want to run weddings on our land and as we are at the end of a residential street and have lovely neighbours, we wouldn't want to annoy them with wedding music/partying etc we're happy just capturing weddings, rather than hosing them 😊 within our planning, we are aloud to have 3 garages on our land (one for each residential park home) so our goal will be to stop renting the warehouse and move our warehouse in our garages on the land xx

    Found your channel this morning and think I have watched them all. I admire your drive and enthusiasm to push your plan ahead, it sounds like you have it all planned out.
    If I may give a little advice to help you:-
    If you have the time and its not too difficult to separate the aluminium from the wood. keep the Ali to one side and either take it to the scrap man or get him to pick it up, its worth good money.
    If pulling more tree/bush stumps out as per the landy and the willow stump, then half the length of the strop it gives more pulling power and you start pulling sooner, hence makes it quicker.
    That heat was very hot especially working outside, I was digging trenches for foundations on an extension. Had to keep taking water breaks.
    Looking forward to the next video, keep up the good work.

    • @CampOutWest
      @CampOutWest  Рік тому +2

      Thanks so much for watching and for taking the time to comment Paul! Great ideas! We've been piling up all the aluminium and any metal to take to the scrap! Hoping it will amount to a little bit of £££ to help pay for wood for our first cabin build!
      Thanks for the tip on the Landy! Will let you know how we get on next time with that method 😊

    I watch a few channels were they have bought land like yourself, The amount of times u tubers get comments saying exactly what your comments said ?, you must have rich family, do u work.
    Why do some people think just because someone bought land outright they must be from rich backgrounds. Not thinking these are people who have worked and SAVED hard, and probably did without certain things in life to actually be able to save.
    I really wish you both all the luck and many Happy years on the land 😊

    We live in central Portugal and have a Podengo, a Portuguese pointer a great dog, a very friendly/nosy girl, we got her free, the last of the litter of a stray. She has the same personality as yours and loves running, we walk 1 mile every day she runs 10, she is around 18 months old. We bought our place in 2016 and had to renovate that, with much less work and only 4000m2 (1 acre) of land, but full of olive, fruit trees and vines. I am much older and, like I said, have done a lot of clean up work you have done, but nowhere near as much. Looking forward to watching the rest. Having your own business is great started mine in 1985 and it's still going, like you I am not wealthy and never want to be. My mother was a Davies.

    You are both an inspiration!! Can i just say, I'm a bit shocked at the negative input you have received from some viewers, I hope it's a minority that are negative!! I just do not understand why some people feel they need to be negative !! And to the Wally who suggested burning the old caravans , obviously he hadn't thought it through, haha. Anyone with a pair of ears attached to their head, will know that you had just 500 pounds left after purchasing the land, certainly no spare money for diggers or skips.!! And what about the insulation in the panels? You cannot go burning that . Please try and ignore this minority. What you both are doing is exactly what I would have liked to have done 30 years ago, and to become as self sufficient as I could be. I cannot wait to see the tiny home complete.

    This may seem an odd thing to suggest, but if you know someone in the area who keep pigs or goats you could ask if you could borrow them. section off pieces of the land and let them clear the ground. They do all the hard work and have a good time doing it. Paige with remove any roots of weeds without damaging the land and provide their own fertiliser if you know what I mean.
    Best of luck to you both and maybe add a go fund me page for your tools and a link for those fabulous hats!

    I came across your videos, very interesting. I live in the US and I didn't know how many different words the UK uses to describe same things here. Example: Caravan verses Mobile Home or Manufactured Home Park, I think you said skip verses dumpster. I live in a Manufactured Home Park, with the exception instead of renting each lot, which is mainly the norm, we bought the lot with the home on it. You are doing such a great job in your videos! thank you for posting all the progress.

    Behind every warm, fuzzy, 'creative' is always a source of cold, hard cash (or a plan to obtain it). Whilst there are no wealthy mummies and daddies in this particular case, the plan is property developing + landlording.

    • @CampOutWest
      @CampOutWest  Рік тому +1

      The plan (in our words) has always been to be able to have a home and be mortgage free. I (Emilie) grew up in a very financially unstable home, so I have always wanted to have stability and not be living in the fear of loosing my home one day. I also suffer from a chronic disease which has effected my work over the years (I've always worked full time BUT having days each month where I've had to call in sick as I'm too unwell to even leave the bathroom is an issue for average 9-5 office jobs) which is why I went self employed as I could work my job around my illness but as it has progressed our day jobs are tricky, so this future buisness idea (of the glamping) will give us more flexibility around my condition and I won't have to live in fear of missing a wedding because I'm too unwell to work that day. We have no desire to become rich or obtain 'cold hard cash' we don't want to become 'landlords or property developers' we just want to know our home is ours whatever happens and I'm still able to work and have an income around my disease.

    People have said about selling the caravans, what I was going to suggest as I've done this myself, you can sell the aluminium from the caravans. It's a metal that if you take to a scrappers you'd get more money than you'd realise

  • @alanvaleandthelazyfarmer1930

    Just a suggestion. If you created a "Tiny Town" where people could build their own (mobile) tiny homes, you could charge a management fee and each person would be responsible for clearing their portion. It would need some careful thought and tight rules on building and lot management before you start. You could also consider a rent reduction for other work on site such as trade work or clearing. Might be worth discussing it with your planning authority.

    Goats are the easiest to clear brush 20 head would clear 3 acres in less than couple months. Also check out polycrete panels for the cabins, quick and strong very thermal efficient.
