Keep the 50 mario challenge! Enjoyed it, 100 lives seems too easy in MM2 for whatever reason, MM1 really required the 100 lives but the switch to 50 seems like a nice task
Great idea, the 100 life challenge just didn't measure up to your skill. Just one complaint, Mario wasn't in fire flower form when he rescued Peach. I'm going to expect you to pre-record every possible combination of power-ups and game styles in advance going forward lol.
An idea, subtract a life for the next time each time the challenge is won. Fail a challenge 3 times and you add a life on. See how far you can get. (The figures could vary of course, I just like the idea of an escalating challenge with a few attempts before de-escalating it.)
yeah, like possibly select level categories, criteria ( like certain number of thumbs up), goal # of levels, etc. Completely controllable playlists. the Worlds feature kinda went like that, but obviously it has to be all levels from one creator packaged in a world - not customizable.
I think 50 life works better than 100 (100 often feels too easy), but I think as a counterpoint, you should also count extra lives you pick up and add them back to the counter, since the 1Ups and Coins would have more of a reason for you to go for them while playing, could up the anti a little for riskier plays.
I think the 50 Mario challenge was solid. Makes the extra lives be worth it and it makes sure that there's still a chance you can lose by the end of the six levels
He doesn't actually track his one ups in this mode. Probably because it's hard enough to track how many lives he has already since he's playing and trying to entertain all at the same time. Trying to keep track of and make coins work at all in this mode would be a nightmare too. On the bright side, he can balance this mode around how inconsistent levels with one ups can be and just ignore them entirely.

Just an idea for a special, since you've began to create custom challenges anyway. You start with one life on easy mode and do like five levels. With the "remaining" lives you go into normal and do five levels as well. Then you go into 5 levels in expert and afterwards 5 levels in super expert. This could be very interesting :) Anyway: nice content as always. Keep this sh*t up. Greetings from Germany
That fourth level is a really creative troll. Normally donut blocks at the end of a speedrun don't really serve a purpose, but here there's just enough time to make it to the door with what seems like the intended route. Just to have that realization come crashing down.
50 is a good number for sure. These levels are overall easier than the deep dark dungeon of SMM1 Super Expert, even if there are some nasty ones in there, and the pressure of a tighter life count is way more fun to watch. I doubt you'll ever lose a 100-man in SMM2, unless you get the kind of level that would tank a run no matter how many lives you have.
Liked the 50 life challenge! Endless has no stakes, and 100 life was usually too easy (for you!) I think this will make it a consistent challenge. SMM should really just let you create your own challenge anyway.
I think doing a timed uncleared challenge would be pretty fun. Give yourself a specific amount of time to clear a certain number of uncleared levels without skipping once you pick one; it gives a concrete goal with the added chaos that uncleared levels bring. You can also worry less about conserving lives and just dive straight into the garbage head first lol
I really wish the devs would let you pick how many life's 1-200 with the options being 1 10 20 50 100 150 and 200 and having leader boards for each on each difficulty
Love the idea of this challenge since it's what made MM1 so good. The only thing I might bring up is making it 100 lives? But it seems doable with 50, so that's just my personal opinion.
Def a YAY from me! Ryu is too good for the 100 lives challenge, its almost guarentied, that the run survives (its stil rly rly fun to watch, dont get me wrong here) but with the 50 lives? We get the fun of watching Ryu blast through some hot-garbage levels AND the excitement from the question if he`s going to make it! So yes, def needs to stay!
I agree with those that said the 50 life challenge is an awesome challenge to keep. Having said that if you were to do a 100 life challenge to make it more difficult you could do around 8 to 10 levels without keeping 1-ups but I feel that you shpuld allpw 3 1-up gain for the 50 life challenge
Good challenge Two rules needs to be added to make it better (we like it when you win) 1- 3 lives max should be add like in endless. 2- you can't exceed 50 lives.
Yayyy, this was awesome. I would love to see more of this challenge. Been watching Ryu for less than a year and I watched like 200 videos haha not including the live streams I fall asleep to haha. Keep playing this game 😊
your gonna have to record the meeting with the princess in each variation you would go to meet the princess, because you ended with a fireflower the princess should acknowledge you have a fire flower. Also, it would be nice if you stuck to doing the "100" mario challenge and allowed yourself to gain one ups (your standard 3 max per level). Other than that i hope this editing continues.
I enjoyed it. 50 lives was certainly better than 100 lives. Using uncleared expert levels with a greater number of attempts would be another thing to try. Bid difference in difficulty between 20 attempts and 100+
Was anyone else screaming in that last boss fight "Take out the Piranha plant!" You could have gotten clean wall jumps and had two less things to kill you (the Piranha plant and the fireballs it was shooting)

This is what I have been looking for. While I enjoy 100 lives MM1 for the garbage, it feels a little easy at times. You're scarcely ever at risk of losing all your lives with your skill level. But with 50 here, I was on edge wondering 'is he going to make it?' for the latter half of the challenge. Would love to see 50 Mario challenge become a regular thing.

The angry atmospheric level was amazing and rude. A truly beautiful troll level because the entire level design is the troll itself.

it was an interesting mystery to watch ryu untangle! then he just needed to apply good gamer skills to take it down :) it made for a fun tense watch!

This is SMM2, in the pause screen it shows that type of the menu. This challenge is a nice concept, you can do it if you would like.

Bowser's Hot Pocket was a metaphor, it was hard but easy, like howa hot pocket can both burn your tongue and still be frozen.

The quality of Super Expert levels is usually better in MM2, probably thanks to the Like/Boo system, so 50 lives looks like a great challenge!
