This is a little different for my channel but I felt this speech was important to share. You can learn more about the Ikenga and it's meaning in my Ikenga Explained video: ua-cam.com/video/0JIUpGs4wMU/v-deo.html

"Who decided that African Art should be tabled "ethnological"? Who has the right to exhibit the other?" Chimamanda is so on point!

Everything is power. Power does not beg, power takes not just what is his, but brute power takes the being too.
For Africans, solution to your problems does not come through begging and deference, it is by acquiring power. You don't acquire power by being cozy with your rival. Anything else, all you will get is a round of applause👏👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

This needed a standing ovation, however, I realize who was in the audience and didn't expect for them to understand.

DAMN!!!!!! She hit that nail smack and dead centre in the head!! I absolutely love how Chimamanda and Trevor Noah know how to call a spade a spade without raising the defenses of those they are calling out.

    Chai.
    I can only shed tears😭😭😭
    We've lost a lot🤦🏿‍🤦🏿‍🤦🏿‍🤦🏿‍
But let's act quickly.... Africa must support the actualization of Biafra which is the beginning of African (Alkebulan) original liberty.

Mandela delivered Sarah Bartmaan's remains from European expositions. This act brought back our dignity as Native South Africans

Sure her soul hadn't rested until she was finally home. I'd run people mad if they kept my body as an exhibit. Haunt them forever. Maybe she not as petty as me.

Appreciate you sharing Chimanda Adichie's speech. If I were a king, and my will was law, I would require all the museums and governments outside of Africa to generate a list of all African artifacts in possession. It came to light in 2019 or 2020 the main museum in Cairo found artifacts in its storerooms it had no idea they existed. Imagine that multiplied by all the museums and private collections around the world. I suspect the list of artifacts stolen or illegally sold would be staggering! Once we have a complete list of artifacts taken, I recommend let the proper African country determine what it wants to do, repatriate the artifact OR allow it to stay at the respective museum, as a loan, but allow African curators to create the displays. The teachings from Africa Deep Thought are endless and displaying the knowledge around the world may help to transform the world into a better one.
Traveling to Africa to view cultural history would be very expensive for me. I live on the east coast of the United States, and within a 4 hour drive, I can visit museums in NY, NJ, PA, DE, MD, DC and VA. From my experience the curations, based upon my knowledge, fail to adequately highlight Africa. For example, at the Penn Museum in Philly, the display for Kemet/Ancient Egypt and Africa is separated by two other cultural exhibits for Central and North America. There is no continuity showing the connection of African Deep Thought from Classical African people to modern peoples. This is why the need for Africans to curate African artifacts is essential to accurately tell a true and proper story.
