My initial thoughts on this ball is it's basically a Hustle with a stronger cover. I'm not saying that's a bad thing, but it makes the price a little hard to swallow.
@@iceman5117 Sun storm was a limited release so the high price was somewhat justified and the Ruby is the same price as every iQ, so those aren't great examples.
@@jadencampbell7091he’s right tho. This ball should be in the Master or Thunder line. I wouldnt go as far to say ‘entry level’ but it sure shouldnt be in the Signature line.
One reason I love Motiv is because they only release a new ball, like, maybe once a month. And each ball’s reaction is distinct or at least has some type of noticeable difference that stands out from other balls in their lineup. Storm releases one every week. And many of them feel no different than others.
I refuse to believe that every Motiv ball is different. Same cores, same coverstocks, different colors. Colors make little difference in ball motion, 0 difference to the typical bowler
@TheHype-Bowling literally can't win. Reviewers that throw balls in the exact same spot over and over and over striking everytime and saying every new release is the greatest ball ever are a dime a dozen. I'd rather see a review like you do from different spots and not perfect execution everyshot
@@upstatebassing3437 Yeah this is the thing, there's always a gripe no matter what. On Darren's reviews, it's "pros can make everything strike, I'd rather see a regular bowler reviewing balls." Then you show a "regular bowler" and then it's like "well they're so inconsistent that I can't tell what the ball is doing." So you edit down to better or more consistent shots, then it's "so all this ball does is strike huh? I hate seeing reviews like this that just show the ball striking every shot." So you try to add some misses in there, then it's, "I don't know, this ball doesn't really look that great, several shots in there that didn't strike, and if that many misses made the cut, I can't imagine what got edited out." So you don't edit anything, then it's "damn this video is 20 minutes long? I don't need 30 shots to get a read on the ball." So you trim things up, then it's "that's it? One layout, one condition, one surface prep, and 8 shots from one bowler doesn't really help me figure out what this ball does." So you start adjusting things by trying a different surface, "well but how am I supposed to know what I'm going to get if you change the surface? And why would you change how the manufacturer intended it?" So you go back to box, then it's "box surface only lasts for like 2 games and you can't replicate factory surface, plus it's usually not that consistent, not sure why you wouldn't reset it first." Then you get a lower rev bowler, "well how am I supposed to tell what a ball does if somebody doesn't put enough revs on it to get any decent ball reaction?" So you get a higher rev bowler, "well they put so many revs on it that everything is just going to hook and look the same, most people can't throw it like that." Then you mix up layouts, "well how am I supposed to tell what the differences in the balls are if the layouts are different??" So you use the same layout for everything, "I don't usually drill stuff pin up, I wish you'd use some different layouts sometimes so I could see how stuff would react with different layouts." Then you try a house shot "well everything is going to look the same and strike all day on a house shot." Then you try something tougher, "I'm not sure why you'd throw this on a sport shot, most people don't bowl on sport shots so I don't know how I'm supposed to know what this is going to do for me in league." Then you try to line up where the ball wants to be, "I really wish you'd move around a little bit, I don't play that straight/deep, so your videos don't help me figure out how the ball will work for me." So you try to move around, "I feel like his shots are everywhere in this video." Literally can't win, if you put 5 bowlers with 5 different layouts on 5 different conditions in 5 different centers with 5 different surfaces playing 5 different places on the lane, then it would be too long and complicated. JR Raymond keeps it simple and gets dragged for not explaining enough technical stuff, I get deeper and more technical and get dragged for making boring videos, Hutch doesn't cut stuff and moves all over the place and gets dragged for 20 minute videos, BrunsNick gets dragged for being a manufacturer employee, so on and so forth. The only way to win is to not make bowling videos, because few people stop and think before clicking away in the comments section.
I haven't been a fan of Storm in a while. I feel like for every ball they release, another company has a comparable ball that is better. But they are top notch when it comes to marketing.
I disagree with that point, but my problem with it is SPI releases so many balls that it constantly feels like theres more overlap than uniqueness in each ball. Only ball Storm has that I cannot find anything even comparable to, is the Summit. And I have 2 Summits lol
It looks ok. When I’m looking at a benchmark ball all I look at is how much room does it give me to miss it looks mid tbh. I feel like “redefining” is just more of storms marketing. Storm has some good stuff but they produce balls so quickly you wonder if they just want the bag.
I think they advertised it as Reinventing the "Benchmark" because of the original Storm Lightning. Its "Reinventing" because they brought back the core from like 20+ years ago
They need to change the name of this ball to MONEY BAGGER I’ll pass for now I just got my attention star and love it it's been good for me great video Charles again

Yeah they are reaching with this price point. Like how can you release the road with the same technology basically, and put it in the thunder line but they throw this one in the signature line? Out of touch imo. Or maybe they just don’t expect much in terms of sales of this one? Idk
Great work Charles. My current impression of the current state of the bowling ball industry is not good. Every year we get balls shoved down our throats (pause)from the industry but even more so by the bowling Channels. I do like the videos from this channel, somehow they appear to be honest reviews without the empty narratives of the others. The Hype members provide all the static info about lane conditions, hand, starting positions, ball speed and flip the others do not. Every year these ball companies release close to 100 balls that most other channels will tell us that we must have in our bag, for league this is far from the truth. How many of us actually bowl in sport shot leagues, I myself and my wife have not-ever; but most of these balls have been designed to allow the bowler to manipulate the lane conditions in order to strike. I know, you like what you like, you get what you pay for and all the other bs. Truth of the matter is, these higher end over priced balls are completely unnecessary; most of which are no better than the balls released only months before. I guess most of us are heavily affected by the "Something shiny" attraction as to why we have a collection of balls aging at home due to over buying something that we possibly already have purchased. Now to this video, WTF is up with everything is now black; as if this is any more special than its predecessors. Im tired of the bs, and had to get this rant out of my head. I continue coming here to the channel because the content is great and I love to watch Charles break down the lanes and ball reaction. Good job to the Hype. Stay consistent and strike strike strike.
I use vise bio skin. It’s more natural filling tape. It will cause you to have to go up in grip size about 1/2 a size but it elevates a lot issues for me.
I suspect the low diff in this ball is meant more for competitive patterns or really high rev players. You are seeing what happens with a clean cover over a lot of volume in one place. Would like to see this ball after like 10 games or just barely touched with a 3k pad to crack the polish a bit. I learned the hard way to not actually leave the polish off a REX ball. It gets REAL ugly.
People complain when I take the polish off the ball during the reviews, people complain when I leave it on. That’s just what I choose to do with this video. Same thing with the lane conditions. Oh every ball hooks on friction, throw it on Some oil so we can see how much it won’t hook in oil. Lose lose scenario. But I had fun.
@@TheHype-Bowlinghonestly I enjoy your videos because the lane surface is very similar to the house here in Germany, looks very high friction, but this ball looks like a high end Hustle, I love SPI but I won’t purchase a ball due to the cover being a ReX cover hustle.
