    The car had 402 torque in 2014 and 327 in this model, same wheel torque because they changed the gearing. Wheel torque is 1266 lb/ft. It has a power limiter that only sends 50% power below 20 MPH and 75% power until 30 MPH. Then the full 120 kW (161 HP) is on tap. The fastest Chevy Spark EV acceleration is 2.7 seconds to 30 and 7.08 seconds to 60. Even with sliced power, it still fights Traction Control. It is FWD and is tail heavy with thin tires.

      Project Nightmare It’s probably geared like that because if you had all the tork from the line you would probably burn the tires up and it wouldn’t be able to get as much grip

    A "Review" should contain information, facts, and performance information... your OPINIONS are not what we come here for. Most people who search out specific model "reviews" are already interested in the car... so your opinions are driving them away. I made it to 28 seconds, stopped, commented, and left.
    (and yes, I'm going to be buying one soon)

    I love the Gen 1 Leaf gauge cluster. It's my favorite of the early EVs. The spark EV is going to be my first EV until I get saved for a model 3! Thanks for the video!

    What to look for when buying an used spark EV and what's the best year to buy? Debating between spark EV, used leaf or new maverick ford hybrid truck..
    By the way I drive around 50 mikes everyday a mix of highway and city driving

    The rear seat do indeed lay flat. Next time you need to unfasten the bottom portion of the rear seats prior to taking the back portions of the rear seats being laid flat.

    • @apl175
      @apl175 6 років тому

      It is not possible to unfasten the bottom portion of the rear seats in the Spark EV because the high voltage battery is directly under there.

      Just extend (or remove) the headrest...will let the rear seat lay flat....

    Couple of things Evolving World got wrong. One, the torque is limited from 0 to 20 and doesn't fully kick in until about 30 to 35 mph. Other wise the tires would just spin and you go nowhere. Two, when charging he didn't set the charge rate from the default 8 amps to maximum 12 amps which makes a huge difference. Three, I disagree with him on the looks of the body. I think the car is super cute. I like the over size headlights compared to the mole eyes of the Fiat 500e. Overall I do like the styling of the 500e better. Lastly, he is wrong about the battery being better in the 2015 and 2016. The 2014 battery is superior because it is Lithium Iron Phosphate which are more robust near impossible to catch on fire and last 2 to 3 times longer. The Lithium Iron Phosphate battery also doesn't use Cobalt or Nickle so cheaper to produce and easier to recycle. Ford, VW and Tesla have announced they are all moving to use the Lithium Iron Phosphate battery for those reasons. Tesla will only use their original Lithium Ion battery in their long range versions because they can hold more energy pound per pound. It was this obsession with EVs having to have the same range as a petrol car that drove the industry to use Lithium Ion batteries that use Nickle and Cobalt.

    Too bad they stopped making this vehicle replacing it with the more expensive Bolt with longer range. When will they realize that there are people who understand that the range does not need to be comparable to gasoline cars when it's possible to recharge every night.

    I'm thinking about buying a 2015 Spark. It is under 10K. Does that sound reasonable? . How long does it take to fully charge at a charging station? I'm lucky enough to live less than a mile from a charging station.

    I’m not finding quite the ideal used EV, yet. I’d prefer that Fiat offered the larger 500L. 4 doors are handy with car seats and families. The Spark is still a little tight in that Regard. Soul EV is likely best bet, along with E Golf, but I am waiting until under 10 grand.

    I do not find these ugly. They are at least a little more interesting than the Sea of Camry Like Cars out there now. The rear end is it's most flattering exterior area. 0-50 is where this car is VERY quick.

    • @djkenny1202
      @djkenny1202 5 років тому

      Not so sure that would make sense in an EV? It’s faster likely, definitely more linear as a one speed. It’s like a little rocket ship.

    • @nc3826
      @nc3826 5 років тому

      FYI--the 1st Teslas used them...to maintain performance at higher speeds ...trade off is more weight and complexity...so its seldom used in BEVs today... except in a few custom performance applications that I know of...but the KISS principle still works best most of the time..it was just conjecture on my part...so enjoy ur rocket ship

      They are about the same in all regards, from battery to overall build quality. The spark has a CCS fast charge option, but the L2 (which you will use far more often) is only half the speed at 3.3 Kwh. The real difference is: the Fiat is beautiful inside & out.

      The Spark has a better crash rating and has 4 doors (for those that take passengers). The Spark also has more power. It is also generally 3K cheaper in the used car market.

    DEMAND NEW RANGE TEST -- Call it 50RANGEtest=3h 15m
    Full charge, 50 mph, flat and level, no stops and starts, wind less than 5 mph, now what is the time you can drive on this 100% charge down to 10% = 3h 16m (guess). This shows me, in terms I can relate to, just how long can I drive on one full charge. Eq2GAS in MPG just does not make me understand what I got to work with, BUT 3h 15m I can use and deal with. Good test location is on 5, start at bottom of Grape Vine and drive towards SF or use an actual test track. Now once we got this number of hours in mind, we do know it must be lowered by stops and starts and wind and 400lb passenger or load and hills and so on, but still I have much better understanding with 50RT=3:15

    You know... on video and pictures it looks fine...but when one sees it in person! fuck! it does look bad. LOL! I have to agree with you on that point....I am trying to decide if either I get this car? or just save my money and go towards getting an Electra Meccanica Solo? once the solo is produced and one can just got and get it from their dealership. The thing is...the "solo" will only have one seat, but at least it looks decent. YET! this car has more seats, and I can pretty much take anyone with me. It's just trying to justify which one I should get?? I do want an all electric car, to save on money and to stop using gas.

      It's extremely difficult to start a car company & actually get a car in production. Most fail. The Arcimoto FUV is still trying to launch, since 2007! Maybe a nice e-bike is the answer, until something better comes along. Cheers.

    • @chaynestheman
      @chaynestheman 5 років тому

      Yeah, the 2014 Chevy Spark EV had a 21 kWh battery and the 15-16 Spark EV had a 19 kWh battery. 82 miles, either pack. The 2017 Chevy Bolt EV has a 60 kWh battery and does 238 miles. The Spark EV is GREAT for city driving. Same overall MPG-equivalent as the Bolt EV. As we speak in Colorado, US, the state Government is making fast charging infrastructure so 82 miles isn't a worry. Just charge for 35 minutes and go another 82 miles.

      @@nc3826 Preaching to the quire. I am an avid cyclist even have cargo bikes for my children. however, most Americans do not drive more than 5 miles one way, so they should consider cycling. Now, I do drive on occasion, usually up to 3000 miles a year, and it comes in handy. Until my second child I did not drive more than 2 to 3 days a month, just borrowing my wife's car for a good 10 years. Just started driving more regularly 2 years ago, and by regularly, I mean 1-2 days a week. I bike to work, the local grocery store, parks, etc... most often with 2 kids, too.
