- I think it's a great myth that music stopped being ambitious in the 80's and my new 'Intrigue' compilation is an attempt to prove that creativity, experimentation and the art rock/progressive aesthetic was still very much alive and well in the decade. Saw him (Porcupine Tree) in Dallas. BEST CONCERT EVER! I've seen The Who, Pink Floyd and The Rolling Stones and a whole bunch else.
I'm always amazed at your deep knowledge of music and bands. You are a defacto Rock historian.
the color pallete is sublime.
The definitive SW 80's mixtape.
I love Steven Wilson.
Me too ☝️
@@massolaquelaluna2707 Hand Cannot Erase is my favorite.
I love his music.
never heard of him
@@bobbyperu8414 And what are you waiting for?😜
Omg..... I was NOT the only person in the world who listened and loved the Cardiacs!!!!.
I love Stevens music, this is the first time though I have taken the time to watch a vid of him talking and I have to say, and I mean this in the best possible taste, THIS GUY KNOWS HIS SHIT!!.
Steven Wilson you are a musical gift to the world.
We grew up listening to alot of the same artist, and glad you put this comp together. If was able to put one together it would have been very close to this. So happy you added Magazine and The Sound. Both bands need to be heard by the masses. I would have added The Scars, The Comsat Angels and The Chameleons to name a few. Great work as always.
the compilation is amazing! Perfectly curated and sequenced and presented throughout. This is what all compilations should be like.
Thank you for your dedication to your craft! Life changing stuff.
😂😂😂😂😂 loser alert
Really looking forward to the arrival of this box set! Thanks for curating it, Steven!
Can’t wait to hear this compilation.
Hadn’t heard of Steve until about two years ago. He’s really amazing isn’t he? Thank you for giving me such pleasure. I’ll definitely consider the music that influenced your amazing work - I reckon there’ll be lots of stuff that excites and interests me.
Great art too. Lovely presentation. I’d have expected nothing less.
Best wishes.
Oh, this boxset looks great! Nice job Steven.
Good Lord those chairs are enormous. Songs from the big chair.
Some were born to stock shelves and some experience greatness like you, Steven Wilson.
Even Less
So happy to see that he's a Kitchens of Distinction fan, was obsessed with them back in the early 90's. Not sure if the track on this set is the best representation of them though. Have to check this compilation out.
My mind was on that cup throughout the video
I admire Steven Wilson so much. His experience and his greatest taste for good music is so tangible everyone should experience!!
Ma per favore

Significant edition, my favorite music era with beautiful pictures.
I'm getting serious anxiety about that cup of coffee going over the leather seats!
I think I’ve got almost half of this in my collection. Very interesting release with beautiful artwork though!
@Stevenwilson Fanchat I have to admit I was relatively late with that! Since 2006.
It's encouraging to see that so many of the alternative bands I was listening to during the '80s on this compilation. You really had to look hard to find this stuff during that decade but as Steven says, it was still rich with original musical ideas. What sadly mars so many of these bands was the early digital recordings that just don't stand the test of time well. Hint to Steven: Ultravox, one of my favourite bands of the era, are crying out for a remix of their catalogue. The LPs now sound shrill in places and need rebalancing with an analog sensibility.
@gotye__ Anyone know when the Steven Wilson remix of Ultravox's classic Rage in Eden will be released in Canada? Can't find it anywhere....
You're a great man and this release is so much nicer than the absolute shit you put out for the booklet to the Closure Continuation limited box set. Fantastic album... absolute bin of a deluxe set.
Take my love master!
🤘🏻🖤🤘🏻
Even if I had no idea what’s going on, this is great ASMR
😄 🥰
There's no such thing as great ASMR

So glad to see artists as different as Momus, Dead Can Dance & Cardiacs on the same page. All so criminally underrated
This box sets are very eclectic.
I recently listened to Steven's remix of Jethro Tull 'We used to know' from " Stand Up" 1969 album.
Excellent edition to the original.
Thanks for a great musical memory.
Love it when Wilson nerds out on music.
I just checked out the track listing ... what the heck? I think SW has been reading my mind for at least some of these. BIll Nelson, OMD, Dalis Car, 23 Skidoo ...
The Album Years is the greatest podcast ever...
@Stevenwilson Fanchat Hi. I've been a fan since I heard In Absentia in 2002. My first concert was 2003 at The Vic in Chicago . I've bought so many albums based on Steven's and Tim's recommendations from their amazing podcast - The Album Years. I'm so grateful they take the time to do these. I love every episode! Thank You
PERSONAL SHOPPER irony, anyone?

The The Good Morning Beautiful! Mind Bomb is such a great album. Matt Johnson is such a great writer. Infected is also a must have. First album is also fun. Any The The album is worth ones time.
I was so hoping to see Front 242 here as well.
Great to see SLAB! get a mention.
Thank you Steven for everything you do ❤ so heartwarming!
Thanks 👍😘🇸🇪
During the whole 22 minutes I was afraid Steven would swipe this cup off the table...😅
He's a martyr for Even Less.
All great artists are associated to something, drugs, alcohol, craziness, mental diseases, depression, arrogance... and then we have Steven Wilson!
Steven Wilson is one of the if not *THE* best musician that ever lived
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
he's definitely one of THE musicians that ever lived

@@Tityretupatulae Awwww.... did you get your feels hurt?
❤️
It starts with Wire. That means so much to me being a massive Wire fan.
I like the wire too
👏
His choice for Astradyne makes me love him even more.
I'd love to know how all of these tracks were collected since most were probably analog originally.
Buen trabajo!!! Steven Wilson 👍🏽
Any chance for minimalists to buy a download of this?
Gorgeous album set, fascinating focus.
Anybody know if Julian Cope is in this great compilation ?
Steven Wilson made a mixtape! Oops I mean a mixCD.
I'm surprised that Pere Ubu aren't included here considering their massive progressive / new wave presence back then. Otherwise delighted to see This Heat, Swell Maps and Punilux included
Because Pere Ubu is an American band and this compilation is about the UK underground.
@@DominiqueVanheusden Yes, of course!!
@@andyshan Although Propaganda is a German band, so now I’m confused. 🤔
From Germany but based in the UK at the time. ZTT and Art of Noise connections etc. That qualifies them.
😊😊😊😊👍👍👍👍
I choose breakable plates nowdays with full of flowers
the golden age of wireless by Thomas Dolby...
Are we sure Franz Schubert hasn't been time travelling?
Music is safe, with musicians of the caliber of Steven.
I am intrigued. Tell me more.[ Yes. This is my shameless filler]
I am the first one here
Wooh hoo
The first one with a meaningless post? 🫠
@@Jean_Maurice yeah man! I don’t mean to spread meaning and world peace using UA-cam comment section you see.
Cardiacs = life.
And then I went for a walk one day and thought here's a chance to fleece my fanboys again.
I believe Steven Wilson walked past me in St Albans park on Mother's Day. 😁 Or it was just someone that looked a lot like him!
He was probably in the area to visit his mum or something.
u left out the chameleons which were a great band from the 80s maybe you didnt dig them
"intrigue" sounds like a brand of cologne lol
Basado
I'm a little concerned that Steven has been overextending himself, He seems to shrunk to about two feet high!
I bought the first Magazine album, it was sort of good but I soon came to my senses and got rid of it. The 80's were a mostly dreadful decade for music.
Not for satanism👎. I stopped listening.
Peter Hammill - Patient.... thank you very much!
