Franciszek Gajowniczek, the man Kolbe saved, survived over five years in concentration camps, thanks to St. Maximilian. He was reunited with his wife, but his two sons had died in a bombardment during the war. Gajowniczek lived to the age of 93, dedicating his life to preserving the memory of the man whom had saved him.
As a Pole he was condemned to that unhappy concentration camp, and as a Pole he was willing to give up his life for that of a fellow countryman, Francis Gajowniczek. How many thoughts come to our minds at the memory of this human, social and ethnical aspect of the voluntary death of Maximilian Kolbe, a son of noble Catholic Poland! This nation's historic destiny of suffering seems to document, in this typical and heroic case, the centuries-old vocation of the Polish people to find in its shared passion a single, united conscience; a knightly mission for freedom achieved in the pride of the spontaneous sacrifices of its sons and daughters. - Pope St.Paull VI
@@nickaddman then were is there other place other than heaven and hell that I don’t know about.I will pray for you God always listen when we pray for conversion of sinners. Peace be with you may God bless you and Mother Mary covers you with her bundle.
I am following the same path as you, brother. Don't let others obscure your path. Just follow the example that Saint Maximilian laid out for us. Peace to you, bro.
@@nickaddmanyou sound like exactly the type of person who'd get into heaven with a little humility. Remember St Peter denied who he knew was the Christ three times. God! If you knew my life.
"That night I asked the Mother of God what was to become of me. Then she came to me holding two crowns, one white, the other red. She asked me if I was willing to accept either of these crowns. The white one meant that I should persevere in purity, and the red that I should become a martyr. I said that I would accept them both." - Saint Maximilian Maria Kolbe
Right on! Great perspective on Father Kolbe! The one that gets me is that he smiled back CHEERFULLY at the SS men who occasionally peered into the starvation cell to check & see how the prisoners were doing inside their little room. Ordinarily, you smile cheerfully when it's a sunny Spring day with a blue sky & white clouds or you just got a promotion at work that came with higher pay or you fall in love with somebody etc. However in this case, Father Kolbe is undergoing death by starvation which is no easy death and he's smiling cheerfully at the men responsible for subjecting him to that horrible fate. That blows my mind! I can only conclude from this example that Father Kolbe had an astounding, lively connection with the Almighty. To say he was great is an understatement. If I ever make it to Auschwitz, I'd very much like to stop by the starvation cell where Father Kolbe died to pay my respects to him. I think so highly of Father Kolbe! Great video, Chris!
I love our faith, I love it's honesty it's sacrifice it's goodness it's hope it's love and it's truth! Thank you for sharing this remarkable story of courage and kindness
Perfect video to share today on his feast! This touches my ❤️ so deeply, as a member of the Militia Immaculata (founded by St. Maximilian), I am honored and recommitted to bring souls to Jesus Christ. All to Jesus, All through Mary!!
My entire family are joining the Militia Immaculata on the 8th September, the birthday of our Commander!!! ❤❤❤ 4 more soldiers join the fight from Australia. The army of Mary is rising all across the world amd the reign of her Immaculate Heart will be sooner than we think ❤❤❤
I don't believe it is okay to believe in some higher power definitively, or rather define what it is because nobody truly knows...even if you think you do. But St. Max was a great person who had a huge impact on my life. I don't go to church anymore and haven't since I was a little boy but when I did, I went to St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church in Houston Tx. I grew up hearing this story about him and it made me a better person. Even if there is no god or allah or jehova or whatever and when we die, it's eternal darkness I am glad I heard about St. Max.
But: No God=No Mary=No Jesus= No Catholic Faith=No St. Kolbe. See? The Immaculate Mother and Christ the Lord work with us, and want to have a relationship with us.
St. Kolbe, before the Nazi invasion was an anti Semite in his early writings. I think he was a product of propaganda in his time. But God is great that He changed his heart when invasion came and gave shelter, fed, clothed, and hid the Jews and the refugees to safety. St. Kolbe, please pray for us. Please pray for Israel and Palestine.
There’s a story of a German Nazi soldier who tried to shoot Fr Kolbe in head. He couldn’t, pull the trigger because there was so much love and humanity in Polish priest eyes that, that feeling melted Nazis heart. They left him to starve.

Brings tears to your eyes!
Nazis gave thumbs down to this. Father Kolbe died a martyr. He deserves his sainthood.

His sacrifice is a godly example for all of us who belong to the Lord Jesus Christ!
This story makes me cry every time. I wear his medal on my rosary.
The tumult and the shouting dies,
Captains and Kings depart,
Still stands that ancient sacrifice,
A humble & contrite heart.
I am so moved by this !!! Excellent report on Maximilian Kolbe.
Thank you Chris .its a short but touching narration.St.maximilian pray for all in addiction
