Inventory slots have always been a rare hard drive option. Can happen twice, IIRC. I always take it when available no matter how good the recipes are. I figure better alts can improve my factories, but that's a passive thing that happens in the background. By contrast, more inventory space is an improvement to my active interactions with the game.
Maybe you've done this already but omitted it from your vids but I can very much recommend that you spend some time and effort to locate all hard drives in the world - alternate recipes can sometime be a true godsend. Iron wire and steel screws are but a couple of super useful things to have.
Power Towers increase the distance you can carry power. There are two variants: one with a platform, and one without. the one with the platform allows for you to "safely" disengage the zipline. Both variants can be used to zip greater distances without having to hop from line to line.
You're thinking of Beacons and nuclear. The only point of automating miners is to have everything automated. And since they don't stack, you're better off carrying the materials and putting down an equipment workshop when needed. That hard drive had two of the worst recipes.

Don't forget you can lock/nudge building holograms before placing them. Might've helped with some of those lights.

When Lumin is on you can use signs as lighting for cool strip lights at 0 power
You can also adjust the angle of the lights.
You can always sink the automated miner for lots of points. making them in manufactures would be a great way to automate lots of coupons!
use sings insted of lights, no energy cost and no need of cables, much more easier to iluminate your factories
Automated miner can be used in an alternate recipe for ship parts I believe.

multiplayer in this game is ineffective at best, totally unfunctional at the worst, something they're working on currently
