I never expected him to be what he turned out to be. He really seemed like a good guy who was tired of police bureaucracy and wanted to do some good after retirement.
The way I see Scott Shelbys character is that He's just A broken Man, he's traumatised with a broken down family who never truly loved him or his twin brother, Of course Scott has no right to Become The Origami Killer but you can See his reasoning behind it, As one of his last lines in the game, with I believe Either Maddison Or Ethan, He says "When my Brother Died, A part of me Died too." It really does humanise Him.
He can't move on, some part of him wants to be the guy that leaves it all behind an goes with Lauren or nurses a baby and to have a family of his own. And the other part of him is trying to desprately find any goodness in the world by being the cause of destruction.
His whole life was full of misery. His hope taken away early on. His inner conflict to still find a glimmer of hope in a sad world, while he loses himself in the process and he cannot see a bright future. That's why it always rains and it's a very gritty mood the entire time. It's Scott's inner struggle or his realistion that he already went too far and waits for the inevitable end. You can make an argument that he wanted to prove for himself that good exists and that's the reason why he tested others and let them feel the same struggle he did. But the difference is, Scott couldn't live on after the tragic events. The day his brother died, Scott also died. He didn't lived from that moment on, he just survived. The others could live on though. So in the end he got what he wanted, in his own mind he won. While the people he affected have to live on. Perhaps even those people are one step away from turning into the next Shelby.
This music is perfect for Scott. I imagine him walking down the street with a tan trench coat, and Dick Tracy-style hat in the pouring rain. Excellent soundtrack, incredible game!
Just finished the game a few days ago, and unfortunately Scott quickly became my favorite character, so the twist hit very hard. Wonderful game, I hope they make something again with Heavy Rain!
When you chose good choices to appear to be a kind and harmless cop, in the game, the character was just pretending to be kind in order to achieve the goal. It's genial.
Heavy Rain ist schon ein Meisterwerk, die Atmosphäre ist einzigartig und ist so in noch keinem anderem "Spiel" aufgetaucht, man hatte fast das Gefühl diese Geschichte ist wirklich geschehen, das einzigste was mich ab und zu aus der Spieltiefe riss war die Grafik, die aber eigentlich nicht so dermaßen schlecht ist, nur von so einem Meisterwerk von "Spiel" und gerade bei solch Emotionalen und realistischen währe eine Battlefield ähnliche ingame Grafik sehr bestaunenswert gewesen. The only time I thought to myself "well hold on a minute here" was when Scott was burning the evidence. That moment was so special to me because I was stunned. I never experienced something like that before. You mean to tell me I was playing the killer all this time? Wait... what? Five minutes were spent feeding a baby that wasn't even mine, and I also saved the mother who wanted to commit suicide. This was my favorite game for many, many, many years. Maybe it still is in some way. Definitely a top 5 contender. I like God of War for PS4 a lot too. Imagine Sony announcing Heavy Rain 2. I don't know how they would do it, because Heavy Rain had so many open endings and I don't think they want to work with Quantic Dream again, but still. They also promised us a movie way back then, but it was never meant to be apparently.
I’ve played Xbox exclusively my entire life but this game alone made me get a PS3 about ten years ago when this game was still relatively new. To this day it’s pretty much all I use it for.
Totally understand that. It was a great reason to get a PS3. I loved this game so much and needed people to experience it, that I actually let people borrow my PS3 and Heavy Rain. Sound ground-breaking at the time, especially those visuals: those loading screens of the faces…WOW!!!
Agreed man! Other than most of the Halo games, this is easily my favorite video game soundtrack of all time. And that says a lot because a lot of games have absolutely stunning soundtracks. I actually like sitting on my back porch when it’s pouring rain with this playing through my Bluetooth speaker.

Очень сильная мелодия! Такое чувство вызывает, очень печальное. Из несчастного мальчика, превратится, в настоящего монстра. Мелодия прям так звучит. Хеви Рейн,классная игра, но сюжет со Скотом Шелби, отвратительно сделали сюжетный поворот. Вы ни когда не задумывались, почему когда Шелби мыслил, то у него не было, ни намёка на то что он злодей! Скота Шелби очень жаль, из-за травмы.
С годами к этой игре стали сильно хуже относиться, я помню как в конце нулевых ее облизывали а ля 12/10, в принципе и здесь можно почитать что писали лет 13 назад и последние лет пять.Я поиграл впервые на ps4 в 2015 и этим летом выбил платину. Заходил в комменты на видео с лучшими моментами из игры или как выбить ачивы типа камикадзе, ничего не щадят: и ужасную озвучку в оригинале, и тупые моменты помимо Оригами, и в зависимости от комментатора либо Джейден либо Пейдж абсолютно лишние персонажи и мем Шон хотя это вообще баг который ещё надо раздрочить чтобы он появился. Единственная игра, к которой с годами поменялось отношение с превознесения куда то сильно вниз. Но я лично ее люблю и нисколько не жалею о времени. Она не идеальна но и со временем не изменилась, особенно учитывая какой обосанный кал типа Конкорда сейчас в приоритете выходит. Да и у квантиков с 2018 года проблемы и суды, не знаю вообще что нибудь новое они выпустят ещё или нет

100% I was stunned.
