  • I spent less than $10 many years ago and this supply of antenna insulators will probably last my entire life.

    Excellent idea. You could use 3 in a row to make it look like high voltage and impress your ham friends! Spent 36 years in electric utility industry, we often added porcelain insulators to increase voltage insulation service.

    I've used short pieces of 3/4 inch pvc pipe with a hole drilled through one end then turn the pipe 90 degrees and drill through the other end. Recently I found a cheaper insulator. For $3.50 I purchased a bag of 50 electric fence egg insulators. Great stuff.

    1:50 - 'a lifetime's supply of antenna insulators'... ...Now let me see; 15 ft of chain, 2 inch links, that's 90 links, more than 10 years per link, that's about 1000 years. I'm off to the store to buy a box! :-))

    have you tried to fuse the ones you cut back together. possibly found a secondary use.

      Actually, they're strong enough that I've used them as is for simple dipoles.
