Sure you might of known this, but the Holes are for JDM plates - you can buy a JDM to USDM license plate bracket on Amazon, had to do this for my JDM sti trunk ....

Ya the stock holes on the front bumper for a WRX are for JDM also. I did not want to drill my front bumper so just made a little bracket. Also if you do that it will be centred as it seems to be of to the right as you are using 1 JDM hole.
I feel your pain with expensive carbon. Just fit my hood this weekend. So annoying how much work such expensive pieces can take to fit.
Just got this trunk myself to match the hood and I'm having a fair amount of fitment "issues"; which is surprising because the hood was a perfect match to OEM!

That sucks you had so many issues with the install. I got the Seibon OEM style CF trunk for my 16. Literally no issues, everything went back on and in perfect.

Beautiful. welcome to the carbon trunk gang! sadly mine had to have adjustments made and came with a crack :/ but has been fixed and re cleared. wax as much as you can. re clear if you can but it will probably eventually fade. looks awesome brother.

Just a heads up for anyone else interested in VIS products. They are known to have a lot of fitment issues. My V2 heat extractor hood actually sits higher on one side, at first I thought it needed adjustment but further looking into it I actually received a bad mold. Understandable for mass produced products but as also mentioned in this vid when you are paying close to 2K for these items we shouldn’t have to deal with these minor issues.
ill suggest either smoking your f1 light or picking up the olm nb+r smoked light to match your taillights
I had the EXACT same issue with my VIS carbon fiber trunk. I had to sand down the left side of the licenses plate light in order for it to fit. Also, had to predrill my own holes to get the licenses plate to fit
Is it me or the gaps to the trunk are significantly larger than the oem ones? Ik carbon will never be perfect but I feel you have alot of gap from the trunk to rear quarter panels

That's pretty unacceptable how those mounting points are off base from OEM.
Although one thing in their defence, the license plate mounting holes are actually correct. You're not meant to mount the plate directly to the trunk. The holes don't line up because it's meant for a plate bracket be in place before the mounting the plate / plate cover itself. The holes I believe are Japanese plate bracket spec. You can use a universal bracket to mount US plates to it.
For an aftermarket part it's to be expected. I got a new OEM trunk and the fitment is off; one side sticks out more than the other around the tail light area and is not flush with the small groove of the rear bumper. I tried adjusting it as much as I could but no cigar. Pretty disappointed.

If anyone is watching and reading this. Be sure to get the trunk from Vis directly so you don't accidentally get a foreign trunk with holes in the wrong spot like he did.

Nice man your car has gone through some nice changes and for the carbon fibre thing i had the same thing happen to me when i bought carbon fibre grills for my 07 the holes didnt fit right so had to improvise. Anyways again nice car and its good to see you making videos again keep up the good work.
yeah that trunk wasnt made for usdm its made for jdm. i wouldnt have drilled a hole in the plate but rather on the trunk. now if you get the bracket youll see the hole in your plate lol well i guess new plates as well.

I had that VIS trunk on my CWP WRX took it off got tired of it. Went with stock trunk and CF duckbill instead.

I had the vortex generator as well but I took it off last week to wrap my roof. And hood will be in the future

I had the same exact problem on my trunk for my 16 sti. what did you do to get the tag lights to fit? Can i just dremel the tag light section? i dont want to mess up the carbon

You can remove the bars inside the trunk. That's what springs the trunk up. Remove it then the trunk will just pop up not flip all the way
Really don't want to be negative cause I've been following this build for years but why is this exhaust on here? It sounds and looks terrible. It can't even make up all that trash in perfor.ance. have an Ark exhaust and it sounds awesome! Plus no drone! If you want to build the channel a bit make sure you don't cut corners. I will continue to follow and show support, just want to give my feedback for what it's worth. Keep grinding!! 👍💯
