Darkest Mario game ever. Those toads you saw stuck to trees, captured by shroobs, etc.? They're Dead. No baby tears can bring them back from being made into fuel, or shot up by lasers. The shroobs committed mass genocide in the mushroom kingdom, and this fact is constantly covered up by the comical hijinks of the bros./baby bros., the bowsers, and the toadsworths. No Mario game has ever went this far into such a dark concept. E for everyone my ass.
I am at a loss as to how this game got a PEGI 3 rating in Europe. It should've been PEGI 7, with the Fear content descriptor (which denotes content that may frighten younger children).

Well to be fair, I consider Super Paper Mario to beat Partners in Time on the emotional side, not the dark side. Except for the Prologues at Castle Bleck, the World of Nothing, and the "Characters' death", the game overall isn't too brutal with the player. Partners in Time tho. It's basically a cramfest of "EVERYONE AND EVERYTHING IS DEAD". Also with some extreme elements like Toad's life fluids literally used as fuel for the Shroob's aircrafts and some minor and major characters "killed" on the spot by being turned into purple mushrooms. I wonder if we'll ever get anything in the Mario Series that gets even remotely as dark and daring as these games. Probably not.
DS can be played on 3DS so its also for 3DS. And the reason its 3DS is because this is to show what could have been the soundtrack for the M&Lpit DX remake that never was.
