0:49 note for note the 3rd solo of Angel of Salvation. Tchaikovsky genius coupled to Syu amazing guitar skills and you've got the best guitar solo of all the power metal genre.
Everyone commenting on how she's being too brutal, too wild, etc, well how do you think the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto is supposed to be played? It's not exactly meant to be a subtle piece.
kfishy If they know the historical background when where and why T composed this music . they will aware Janine Jansen is the right interpretation. Actually I show the Julia Fisher's version to my infant daughter, I listen to Janine's version by myself when daughter is not there
What I hate the most is people saying: she is no Heifetz. Really? We already had one, don't we need new violinist to remake the music instead of playing everything just the same?
@@aa-lb4je that wasn't because it was too hard. Leopard Auer edited it because it was unfit for the violin in some weird way(idk either) but not because it was too hard.
The performance was a perfect blend of the artistry of Miss Jansen and the amazing control of Maestro Poppen of the orchestra. Fantastic combination and performance, indeed!
I can listen to this performance 5 or 6 times a day and not get tired of it. Tchaikovsky seems to have the "get under the skin" creativity that makes you hum and sing the music while you're driving with the radio off.

TwoSet Violin: We challenge Davie504 to play the third movement of Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto on the Base. Me: What the hell is that?... Also me: Search on UA-cam and find this lovely piece of music. Thank You TwoSet Violin!
she adds so much to the mood of the music, and the interaction between the solo and the orchestra. I would say Perlman, then her, then Hahn, then Bell.
The only thing lacking in this video is coverage of the standing ovation she most assuredly received, which was probably comparable in length to that of the entire performance! I'm in tears...not to mention, in love :)

Such a virtuosic and sensitive performance of surely one of the greatest of the romantic violin concertos. I must confess that Tchaikovsky would be my favourite composer. How sad that he died so relatively young (a death shrouded in mystery) . But what a legacy. Such solace from this incredible music in a world gone "mad". Harry E W Smith, E.D., A.D.M. This is one of two musical performances that make life worth living. The other is Khatia Buniatishvili performing F. Liszt - "Ständchen" Piano Transcriptions After Schubert

I so agree with you!!! You have good ears. She is amazingly gifted and a mature musician..true to the music at all times. Hope she will give a concert in San Fran, CA..she's not as well known as some of the other young engenu (sp?) but I believe she tops them all. I'm a violin player.
What a fantastic performance! The face wipe at the end before offering her hand to the conductor is pure kid stuff! Naturally, the conductor wouldn't settle for that and wanted a kiss on the cheek. Can you see the passion in her playing where she brings Tchaikovsky to life? Not just notes on a page and not just another pretty face with a violin and bow.

Refreshing to hear those "superfluous phrases" included. It gives a clear understanding of how T actually builds up to the big cadences and virtuosic sections.
This is an entertaining though raw, over-the-top, and sometimes sloppy performance by a younger Janine. Two later efforts on YT, both with Paavo Järvi conducting, show how far she has come as an artist.
+Matt D I agree! As an adult beginning violinist I know I will never be able to play like her. But seeing her passion for violin gives me a great deal of inspiration. Watching and hearing her and other professional violinists makes me want to practice more and more.
I can not listen to the LARK without remembering the beautiful ballet with Alvin Ayley choreographing and the only white dancer of the company doing the solo. Miss. Jansen is lovely to look at and the music ( mistic and misteriuse) is a bliss
@shanehodd It's the German Radio Symphony orchestra, conducted by Christof Poppen. They do a great job, don't they? It's an amazing performance with such vigour (see the violin entry here), rarely played with such attack. This isn't just a youthful performance either - there's a lot of thought gone into this. Wonderful and thanks so much for posting it.
@musicman24X That is very cool! I enjoy all types of music. I play piano and am trying to learn electric guitar (at 59 yo...I just love the sound of a heavy strat or telecaster!...David Gilmour is my favorite). Janine is such a passionate player, she could probably play a washboard and bring tears to your eyes!
