    You don't know how helpful this video is. I bought this filter yesterday and haven't set it up, because I was too confused. I need to transfer the mídia from my awful Space Eko Pro to this filter. Seriously, you helped a lot. I'll be setting up the filter while watching this tutorial. Thank you and best regards from Portugal!

    I have been using the 303B and 304B. They are in my experience quite a reliable filters. Currently B
    both are still running, 303B 4 yrs and 304 going 3 yrs. Just a tip to prolong it's use: always do regular maintenance (i do once a month or every 2 months), do not put too much filter foam and medias and lastly make sure you clean the propeller and attached it properly. I have beeng using the UV light ( intermittent on and off) for longer than a week and i don't have any problems with it infact it does help achieve crystal clear water. Nice vid very detailed!

      I have been doing cleaning every 2-2.5 months so far. UV light i haven’t touched it. It’s been fine as is without the UV light, crystal clear water even with heavy waste makers like Tilapias lol.
      I might be removing the canister filter for now since I am almost done with the Tilapias. Going for smaller fish this time with low maintenance.

    Just picked up the Marine Color 370 w/UV 9w.... haven't set it up as of yet because I'm waiting for the silicone hose that'll replace the green that came with the filter. I.o the SunSun and marine color are All basically the same filter
    But hey, who's watching??
    Apparently by switching out the original green hose with an aftermarket silicone tubing type hose, there's a way better out (and in) come with the filter. Im just a bit leery of using the supplied hose clamps... I think I'll switch them out for a few good grade tie straps as metal hose clamps could possibly crack or break the ridgid plastic tubes inserts of both the intake and return lines.

    Placing tip of hose in hot water for a couple minutes will soften hose and allow you to really get the hose on the fitting perfectly, when it cools it will shrink back to size making a very tight seal . Only issue with this is you pretty much have to cut the hose to get it off.

      Hey man,
      a few things to consider:
      1) First would need to know your tank size in gallons.
      2) Knowing your fish. How many fish do you have and how much waste do you think they produce? Low/Medium/High. (example my tilapias were fed twice a day and they would produce a lot of waste)
      3) Whats your budget?
      4) Not sure what products are available in India and what stores sell canister filters.

    Ain't gonna lie that IS a ton of big @$$ fish for a tank that size what is that a 55 or 75 gl tank?! But I'm glad you got them a heavy duty filter cuz I actually have this same filter I bought about a month ago & it is an incredible filter & I've been a fish owner for over a decade so I've had dozens of different HOB filters & canister filters over the years & this 200Gl filter is by far the most impressive of any brand I have owned. If I'm being honest though I actually came to your video in hopes I could figure out the UV light. It just doesn't say really anything about it in the instructions other than that I believe that it said a small light on the outside on the switch or near it would illuminate when the UV light is on. Mine does not have any light that illuminates & I can't figure out how to gain access to the UV light switch on the outside of the filter. It has a clear plastic cover over it & I assumed that I could just twist it off to gain access but I tried pretty dang hard & it wasn't moving at all & I didn't want to break it so I was hoping I could find a video showing how others gain access to that switch but yours unfortunately doesn't. If you happen to read this or if anyone else who has this filter reads this & knows how to access that switch please enlighten me as I really like this filter so I don't want to break it at all trying to get to that switch. Thanks

    • @MTFISHER

      You can if you think your fish tank requires the extra filtration/water flow. Most people would switch to a proper size canister filter that fits their tank and only use that. But the options are there and it’s on you and what you think is the best fit for your tank!

      @@MTFISHERokay, I’ll plan on getting a 206 or 207 for my 40 gallon then. I have a sorta small sponge filter I might as well leave in right? Do I need to order any more mesh besides rings and bio balls? Or does it come with it? I’m looking at the fluval 207 performance. Sorry for all the questions

    • @MTFISHER
      @MTFISHER  Місяць тому

      Is your tank heavily stocked? A lot of waste? Do you have plants? A lot of things come in factor when choosing the right filter.
      With canister filters, companies will market it a certain way to grab peoples attention, for instance the fluval 207 says it filters 206 gallons of water per hour, but they usually test this without any filter media. With filter media + fish waste + food debris, the flow rate will decrease a lot.
      One thing people do is cut the flow rate in half (206/2 =103) since in the real world you will have filter media lol and see if your aquarium would get filtered 4-6 times an hour.
      Are you able to bump up to the 307?
      Also I was looking at the filter on amazon canada, and yes they do come with an initial setup of filter media.

      Sunsun primary sealing o-ring relies on the clamps pulling the o-ring down into the tapered main body. IMHO,but wilth considerable experience as an engineer, this is far less effective than an o-ring being compressed against a flat surface. ❤ If the plastic used to mould the main body is too pliable, it yields to the outward pressure of the o-ring and reduces the sealing pressure thus water gets past it. This problem is not unknown .. more than one UA-cam post suggests wrapping ptfe tape inside the anular oring groove. Basically, this is intended to restore the original sealing pressure .... but highlights the flaw design and materials.

    • @MTFISHER
      @MTFISHER  4 місяці тому +1

      @petenewell5377 I haven’t had any issues with my canister filter so far. I did add a few extra things to prevent/slowdown a leak. I put the canister in a large tote and have the canister filter attached to a smart plug that can be controlled from my phone. That way, I can stop the filter right away if I see water spilling. Been planning to add a water sensor in the tote, so i can be alerted if water does start spilling in the tote, didn’t get to it yet lol.
