@@jacques_crafford I couldn’t agree more with Jason. Meanwhile I’m over here stuck in the mud hahaha. I’m stuck on the most basic things, in beginner land over here even though I’ve been studying for over 8 months. (Only truly been picking up a camera for like 2 of those months or less) I understand composition for the most part, but that’s where it stops. I don’t understand the why behind shots and angles at all. I keep seeing other people’s stuff like this and wonder to myself, “what do I even shoot…? why are they shooting from that angle? Why did they add movement here? Is it all up to creative freedom?” But I never come up with answers to them. Dry of ideas and direction. Any advice? I can feel it, I’m just missing one puzzle piece. Once it’s there, it’s off to the races.
Bro!!! A comment like this from someone like you hits really hard, what a legend! Thank you for your amazing support, I really wish we had more time to hang out and shoot together :) Miss you!
Top work! From the whole team! Camera, directing, editing, sound, lights, actors 👏👏👏 beautifully filmed, great pace, interesting story/characters and acting. A truly great short 👏
Absolute genius! I don't know what to say, you just fired up something in me. My style of sound design and editing is going to change now. Because of you!
Really amazing content, Jacques! As someone diving into filmmaking, knowing how much hours goes into a project like this, I take my hat off to you brother. Straight from South Africa, I'm saving up for a camera now but started with smartphone filmmaking and loving it so much. Looking forward to more of your work and the BTS, keep inspiring my bru🎉❤
Thanks bro, really appreciate that! I can honestly say that this project would have been impossible without the help of an amazing team. Happy to hear about your love for filmmaking, it's such a great passion to pursue and I wish you all the best with your journey!!!
Absolutely incredible! You've done an amazing job. I wish I could master even a fraction of the skills needed to create something this brilliant. Well done!
@@jacques_crafford Indeed! The idea itself is ingenious too, though, utilizing the liminal space of imagination. Yea I imagine starting with music and letting the groove define the montage was helpful.
Your videos are so inspiring. I cannot wait for the break down. I recently switched to Sony and your videos and tutorials have made such a big impact. Thank you
Aaaah I'm so happy to hear that! Thanks for taking the time to comment. I'm busy creating Camera Guides for Sony so keep an eye out for the launch of that!
Thanks bra that means a lot! I think the success can be attributed to the fact that both the Actor and Director are true musicians. The Piano was a mission haha but luckily it was empty on the inside. We had so much fun with this :)
Wow as always, amazing work! But this time with true Blockbuster Vibes!!! Curious about a Breakdown of this Masterpiece. The quality of Morion and Sound design is unreal! 🫶🚀🎬
one can only hope for a Jacques Crafford feature film one day! (shot on FX3 of course heh). Do you still standby shooting at -7 detail? Do you add sharpening in post or just prefer the -7 look?
Hi Jac your tutorials are just amazing, learning in detail but I am quite confused about these 2 lenses "Sony Distagon T* FE 35mm f/1.4 ZA Lens" and "Sony FE 35mm F1.4 G Master". which one I should go for? please suggest, that would be highly appreciate.
@@jacques_crafford But maybe you could convince the man to come onto your channel for a sound design break down? Or at least for giving insight into his main idea and a couple of examples? :) I thought the sound design was extremely strong.
Definition of Cinematic
Gosh thank you, that's a big compliment!!!
Not cinematic. There is no fancy flashy transitions, teal and orange. (Sarcasm 😅)
Jokes aside, this is actually what cinematic is. Great job!😊
This is so powerful on many levels!!! Story line, shots, lighting, sound design, edit. So good!
Thanks Jason, that's a huge compliment. I can't take all the credit though, had an amazing team working with me on this!

Dang! It gave me chills. Definitely could be made into something feature length. I already feel massively invested in the main character.
