I never saw that episode, sadly it does sound like them. In my opinion as an ex tour guide a caravan should only be brought on from Inskip and go as far as Indian head. Dylan I agree with what you are saying about being smart about what you film. Fact remains that if you have to sensor your filming you are doing the wrong thing and that's a problem in itself. I also see people both with and without vans tearing tracks apart due to having no idea how to drive off road. We will always take a track over a bitumen route but we also have significant experience to ensure we don't rip tracks up. There are some channels that should be ashamed of the way they rip up tracks. Can't sign petition but will keep trying. Happy New Year.

Rightly tracks will continue to be closed if people behave this way regardless of whether they post videos. For tracks to remain open in national parks and conservation areas a change in the culture and behaviour of those who use them is required.

They are selfish people who only are out to make a buck to keep their own interests alive without a second thought on how their actions will effect those who follow. Lil and Jake should be embarrassed and ashamed of themselves. Suggest they make a public apology fortheir actions. UA-camrs are killing what they are out there showcasing. They all go tò samearea at same time and flood content, making it boring to watch. I have been working for years to get out to travel our great country but am worried that i wont get to experience half the things i have watched others due the explosion of influencers on youtube inadvertently harming the whole travel experience for others. Well said. Back in the old tent days we used to laugh when someone towed there old 16 foot caravan into some remote camp spots. Thought they were mad. Now the same spots are full of massive vans. Some getting crazy bogged and tearing the shit out of the tracks ending up with sometimes multiple vehicles and winches getting them out.

Dylan you are 100% right about track closures and after seeing that clip of lil and jake that is an example of why National Parks want to close off tracks to 4wds. We are quick to blame national parks, but people are doing the wrong thing and rubbing their faces in it by broadcasting it to 25-100k people. No wonder they are doing what they are doing. Talking about government overreach, a video currently on UA-cam claims that a Melb city council has or is introducing a permit to store unregistered motor vehicles and or repair and service vehicles on your own property. As far as off road tracks being damaged look no further than people towing larger trailers and heavier vehicles across the Simpson Desert This will close if the damage continues

Great point mate..! To add to your comment about UA-camrs running a business and needing to make exciting content for income. The tax man is jealous and hates UA-camrs because we right everything off as “business”… So of course the government will react by closing tracks because there’s an episode of it… The word influencer is a title we all hate, but that is exactly what we are… influencing the public to do what we do… it should be the nut the holds the steering wheel that gets penalised not the public, the proof is there in their episodes…! There are a significant number of greenies working in NPWS. They are attracted to it obviously, but they exert their influence within the NPWS and are slowly working their way up where they have even more influence.

In WA, people have towed big vans out to Steep Point when they''re asked not to by the Ranger and on the web site. I'd hate to see that iconic track shut down. Quite frankly, WA is being loved to death and with that comes a percentage of travellers who don't respect country. My pet peeve is the stealth campers who really aren't that stealthy and ruin it for everyone. I recently saw a young couple bragging on camera how they snuck into a caravan park for a "free' shower. By the way, I saw that Lil and Jake broke the suspension in their new Prado. That'll be the next episode I suppose. When I saw the episode you quoted, I asked them (politely) not to "prune" the native vegetation. The axe chopping is right there on camera.

Well said Dylan, its going to get to a point in 5-10 years that youtubers and offroad caravan builders are going to be a victim of their own success,the only places to take a van will be caravan parks, hipcamps and farmstays,so no one will need an expensive off road van and all go back to a on road van,i wouldn't be wasting 200grand on an Urban anytime soon,happy new year🎉

I understand your concern over tracks getting locked up, but in defense of Lil & Jake that was pretty minor didn't All 4 Adventure start the trend of towing super heavy, impractical things on Tracks on National TV as well as some big You Tubers. Hahahah I thought the same thing when they said 3 ton! I would have thought premium vans would be lighter. It's not just about the damage it's about national parks seeing the videos then reacting by closing the track. That was not a track to get to a camp sit, it's a track for taking your 4wd and having fun day trip. No reason to have a caravan on it. I understand they wanted to test the car towing and 4wding but go to private property like a 4x4 park. We are fighting a loosing battle and these videos do not help. I stopped watching and supporting All4Adventure because they went from being informative to just dragging the biggest heaviest trailers through tracks they shouldn't. Reckless and money hungry they have become. These youtubers and influencers are 100% ruining theoffroad travelling venture for all to follow. I strongly believe, tracks in National parks need to impose weight limits(trucks) and no towing, instead of shutting down completely. Put the gates in but allow users to sign a key out. This way they know who is there and when and it will control the selfishness that another of people portray.
A very good piece Dylan 👏👏 Part 1 - Tony Crooke is the face of GME and is featured in many tagalong trips with the big YTs. He is a knowledgeable and responsible 4WD pilot as well as being a great bloke. Part 2 - What most people don't know is that National Parks are State Parks of national significance. Not many NPs are funded to the degree of, say, Kosciuszko NP. Many, many NPs receive no targeted Federal Government funding. Off the top of my head, tracks are closed because of neglect (overgrown and much deadfall), weed infestation (lack of biosecurity and control) and, damage to tracks and vegetation by dumb or ignorant 4WD pilots. In my travels I have had cause to work from an office at the ADF Rockhampton Depot and Staging area (8,000 transit beds, mainly for the Army). My Army job is unrelated to the dozen or so APS employees there but they are all, bar one, very well qualified 'Conservos' that monitor the Shoal Water Bay Training Area. They too close tracks/roads and areas that are subject to storm damage, weed infestation and,, dumb/inexperienced Army drivers making new tracks or bogging and making things worse. Again, a very good piece 👍👍

I agree with you 100% It’s all about the views, & kicking up as much dust or mud as possible. I’m 56, & lived out bush in SA for most of my life, & there are now way to many young people who watch videos of people going flat out on a beach, & tearing it up. Beach driving in Australia will be banned one day. Just don’t post it on Social Media.
To be honest i think we are all looking at it the wrong way ... 4wd tracks should remain 4wd tracks but when they get to say "50% hard" the govt dozes them into 2wd tracks or closes them ... if we allow the govt to do this they just change the threshold to 40% ... then it becomes 30% .... etc etc etc ... I think its time we stop blaming 4wdrivers for 4wdriving but start blaming the govt for overreacting to any perceived damage ... after all the damage is self regulating ... 4wdrivers either fix the damage to keep the tracks open or stop using them! Lets stop the government changing the perceived threshold all the time to keep themselves in a job... try naming a 4wd track in a govt controlled area then you cannot get through in a stock 4wd. .. They have been regulated out of existence . ok to use comment.
Hey mate, thank you for your comment and thoughts, everyone's opinion is welcome here 😀 I would say big red at glass house was 100% hard, it stayed around until someone almost died then decided to put the video up on social media. That pushed the government's hand to act. So that was our fault. Dragging a 3T caravan up a for wheel drive track is something the government would not like as again its dangerous and unnecessary. I think if we all do the right thing and stop publishing doing the wrong thing then they would remain open. Remember alot of the tracks we use for 4wding are actually fire access track, if we stuff then up how do fire trucks get through? I'm a big believe tracks should be maintained by a local 4wd club to the area. If they are not looked after then close them. But give us a chance first. Also I'd be interested to know if you die or seriously injured yourself on a track in a national park management area, can your family sue because the national park failed to maintain the track to a safe level?

Travel vlog market is so saturated now, so content creators need to do something different from all the rest to get clicks. It's going to get worse, more and more tracks will be closed. I live in WA, and so many places I have been going to for years are being closed down. Open for years, looked after, and respected. Then these UA-camrs come over after the borders opened and have swarmed the place, and now they're closed. So many UA-camrs all up Exmouth or the Gibb, pumping out videos doing the same thing. I loved the borders being closed, could actually get a spot up north, and shit wasn't closed

I do like Lil and Jake. But they have just made South Australia's major newspaper "The Advertiser" Claiming they are falsely calling out Toyota Faults. When Toyota are claiming there modifications are causing the problem. Turns out it was only a very minor issue(loose nut). Hopefully they can get back to the videos that made them popular to begin with.

Your comments about UA-camrs having to self sensor seems like one of the more important things we all have to think about if we want to continue enjoying online content and having access to the great outdoors. The number of rules and regulations imposed, mostly, by unelected bureaucrats is an ever growing problem for all of us. It's almost impossible to do anything now without worrying about the Karen's and Kevin's" who are ging to be outraged over some minor technical breach of an unclear regulation. And they love the self importance that they get out of telling you and reporting you. I'm no fan of trying to legislate and fine people doing the right thing as that just empowers the "Karen's and Kevin's", but I really like that you are sharing the message and encouraging travellers and creators to just be better. And to the UA-camers wake up to yourself travelling Australia 4wd driving and camping has always been here it just didn't happen in the last 10 years since social media started. Suggest they make a public apology fortheir actions. UA-camrs are killing what they are out there showcasing. They all go tò samearea at same time and flood content, making it boring to watch. I have been working for years to get out to travel our great country but am worried that i wont get to experience half the things i have watched others due the explosion of influencers on youtube inadvertently harming the whole travel experience for others.

Well said. Back in the old tent days we used to laugh when someone towed there old 16 foot caravan into some remote camp spots. Thought they were mad. Now the same spots are full of massive vans. Some getting crazy bogged and tearing the shit out of the tracks ending up with sometimes multiple vehicles and winches getting them out.

Dylan you are 100% right about track closures and after seeing that clip of lil and jake that is an example of why National Parks want to close off tracks to 4wds.

We are quick to blame national parks, but people are doing the wrong thing and rubbing their faces in it by broadcasting it to 25-100k people. No wonder they are doing what they are doing. Talking about government overreach, a video currently on UA-cam claims that a Melb city council has or is introducing a permit to store unregistered motor vehicles and or repair and service vehicles on your own property. As far as off road tracks being damaged look no further than people towing larger trailers and heavier vehicles across the Simpson Desert

The tax man is jealous and hates UA-camrs because we right everything off as “business”… So of course the government will react by closing tracks because there’s an episode of it…

In WA, people have towed big vans out to Steep Point when they''re asked not to by the Ranger and on the web site. I'd hate to see that iconic track shut down. Quite frankly, WA is being loved to death and with that comes a percentage of travellers who don't respect country.
My pet peeve is the stealth campers who really aren't that stealthy and ruin it for everyone. I recently saw a young couple bragging on camera how they snuck into a caravan park for a "free' shower.
By the way, I saw that Lil and Jake broke the suspension in their new Prado. That'll be the next episode I suppose.
When I saw the episode you quoted, I asked them (politely) not to "prune" the native vegetation. The axe chopping is right there on camera.

By the way I've got know idea how that little van could weigh 3 ton

It's not just about the damage it's about national parks seeing the videos then reacting by closing the track. That was not a track to get to a camp sit, it's a track for taking your 4wd and having fun day trip. No reason to have a caravan on it. I understand they wanted to test the car towing and 4wding but go to private property like a 4x4 park. We are fighting a loosing battle and these videos do not help.

I stopped watching and supporting All4Adventure because they went from being informative to just dragging the biggest heaviest trailers through tracks they shouldn't. Reckless and money hungry they have become.
These youtubers and influencers are 100% ruining theoffroad travelling venture for all to follow.
I strongly believe, tracks in National parks need to impose weight limits(trucks) and no towing, instead of shutting down completely. Put the gates in but allow users to sign a key out. This way they know who is there and when and it will control the selfishness that another of people portray.

Part 1 - Tony Crooke is the face of GME and is featured in many tagalong trips with the big YTs. He is a knowledgeable and responsible 4WD pilot as well as being a great bloke.
Part 2 -
What most people don't know is that National Parks are State Parks of national significance. Not many NPs are funded to the degree of, say, Kosciuszko NP. Many, many NPs receive no targeted Federal Government funding.
Off the top of my head, tracks are closed because of neglect (overgrown and much deadfall), weed infestation (lack of biosecurity and control) and, damage to tracks and vegetation by dumb or ignorant 4WD pilots.
In my travels I have had cause to work from an office at the ADF Rockhampton Depot and Staging area (8,000 transit beds, mainly for the Army). My Army job is unrelated to the dozen or so APS employees there but they are all, bar one, very well qualified 'Conservos' that monitor the Shoal Water Bay Training Area. They too close tracks/roads and areas that are subject to storm damage, weed infestation and,, dumb/inexperienced Army drivers making new tracks or bogging and making things worse.

I’m 56, & lived out bush in SA for most of my life, & there are now way to many young people who watch videos of people going flat out on a beach, & tearing it up.
Beach driving in Australia will be banned one day.
Just don’t post it on Social Media.

To be honest i think we are all looking at it the wrong way ... 4wd tracks should remain 4wd tracks but when they get to say "50% hard" the govt dozes them into 2wd tracks or closes them ... if we allow the govt to do this they just change the threshold to 40% ... then it becomes 30% .... etc etc etc ... I think its time we stop blaming 4wdrivers for 4wdriving but start blaming the govt for overreacting to any perceived damage ... after all the damage is self regulating ... 4wdrivers either fix the damage to keep the tracks open or stop using them! Lets stop the government changing the perceived threshold all the time to keep themselves in a job... try naming a 4wd track in a govt controlled area then you cannot get through in a stock 4wd. .. They have been regulated out of existence . ok to use comment.

I would say big red at glass house was 100% hard, it stayed around until someone almost died then decided to put the video up on social media. That pushed the government's hand to act.
So that was our fault.
Dragging a 3T caravan up a for wheel drive track is something the government would not like as again its dangerous and unnecessary.
I think if we all do the right thing and stop publishing doing the wrong thing then they would remain open.
Remember alot of the tracks we use for 4wding are actually fire access track, if we stuff then up how do fire trucks get through?
I'm a big believe tracks should be maintained by a local 4wd club to the area. If they are not looked after then close them. But give us a chance first.
Also I'd be interested to know if you die or seriously injured yourself on a track in a national park management area, can your family sue because the national park failed to maintain the track to a safe level?

Travel vlog market is so saturated now, so content creators need to do something different from all the rest to get clicks. It's going to get worse, more and more tracks will be closed.
I live in WA, and so many places I have been going to for years are being closed down. Open for years, looked after, and respected. Then these UA-camrs come over after the borders opened and have swarmed the place, and now they're closed. So many UA-camrs all up Exmouth or the Gibb, pumping out videos doing the same thing. I loved the borders being closed, could actually get a spot up north, and shit wasn't closed

Your comments about UA-camrs having to self sensor seems like one of the more important things we all have to think about if we want to continue enjoying online content and having access to the great outdoors.
The number of rules and regulations imposed, mostly, by unelected bureaucrats is an ever growing problem for all of us. It's almost impossible to do anything now without worrying about the Karen's and Kevin's" who are ging to be outraged over some minor technical breach of an unclear regulation. And they love the self importance that they get out of telling you and reporting you.
I'm no fan of trying to legislate and fine people doing the right thing as that just empowers the "Karen's and Kevin's", but I really like that you are sharing the message and encouraging travellers and creators to just be better. It seems to me that a culture of "do no harm and leave no trace" will be far better than the threat of fines and punishment.

And to the UA-camers wake up to yourself travelling Australia 4wd driving and camping has always been here it just didn't happen in the last 10 years since social media started. As for your mention of L&J, they are a couple of twerps who thrive because of their too stupid to be true persona. It's a common practice for L&J (and many other content provides) to deliberately take the worst path to hype the drama of their content for a better view count, this can be clearly seen in most of their videos.
