On the subject of location disclosure as a traveler i watch a lot of youtubers to find places to visit if they did not share the locations i would very likely not watch them i use these channels for education, research etc. Happy to share comment. Keep up the good work and good luck trying to keep everyone happy LOL

Another Great Video. I subscibed to your channel a few weeks back after having some down time from making my own content and i look forward to seeing your channel on my feed, I may not get to them straight away due to my own travel arrangements but thoroughly enjoy it when i do, the charity work you do is awesome , top job mate. I too have noticed a drop off after Xmas from the larger channels and have seen alot burn out trying to keep up with weekly uploads. The beauty of having a small channel is that i'm under no pressure , I can enjoy my trip around Australia and upload when i'm ready and i know that the subscribers I have will respond, plus it makes it easier to respond to the comments, its like having a family away from home, being a solo traveller its a good feeling. Look forward to your next Vid.

Thanks mate for your support, means a lot. I think that’s the best way to do it, don’t get bogged down and try to commit on a weekly schedule. The main reason we are all travelling is to get out and see the beauty of Aus as it is for our own eyes.

Dylan you take the content where ever you are happy, you will settle on format eventually but to be honest.
My original attraction to this channel was and still is, you being brutally honest with what is happening in the 4x4 & travel world on UA-cam, with both the good and the bad.
    Free to use.

I'm happy changing up the format as the community grows, shows I'm listening.
The calling out is a tough one as the group is so divided on it. I think if it's a very bad mistake it will get highlighted and I'll just warn people of that and not to watch that video if it doesn't interest them.
Same with if someone does somthing really good it deserves to be highlighted.
Cheers again for watching mate, have a great Sunday night.

Hey Dylan, I'm new to your Yarns podcasts. I really enjoy your take on promoting smaller UA-cam channels. The larger ones tend to forget about why they started once they've become popular. Keep the raw, honest, and transparent content coming. Keep calling out those minorities that spoil it for the majority.

      @Off.TrackPods  17 днів тому +1

Oh wow 😃thanks so much Dylan for giving our website a shout out. That’s so very kind of you and it was very unexpected 😀 I almost jumped through the tv when I saw it 🤣
Continue calling out the things people are doing. I can’t see any harm in having an opinion on something especially if it helps others travelling so they do the right thing. When we first found your channel it was like a breathe of fresh air. Finally someone who has the balls to call out people and their wrong doings. Do whatever it takes to make people comply to the rules so we can all enjoy this beautiful country.

As far as location sharing goes, im torn hey and so are my followers. I normally share a location if its a well known spot but if it a quiet spot that i have gone to some effort to find i dont share. This has divided my followers, ive had people commenting that i have now wrecked their spot by doing a video there and i have also had people tell me i need to share the location aka coordinates every video 😬. Also been approached at 4wd shows and people are quite adamant that i should be doing this.
I don’t mind sharing or helping someone find a spot if they send me a message privately. Its nearly to the point where its not worth it anymore, im not a massive channel and still work fulltime so sometimes i question why i do this. So yeah its a hard one with location sharing.
Keep up the great work mate
    Youll be monetised soon 👍

    • @Off.TrackPods
      @Off.TrackPods  14 днів тому +2

Hey mate, thank you for the taking the time to share your thoughts. I don't think your alone in questioning if youtube is still worth the energy put into it. I have a feeling 2025 we will see alot of people give up. The views / subscribers have become very hard to come by, not due to the amount of channels, just lack of intrust from the public. I feel it's due to the algorithm not letting people see new channels so they get bored with youtube.
As far as sharing spots, I'd say remember it's your channel and your want your subscribers to share your values, if people are going to get shitty for you trying to prevent spot burning and Closures I'd just ask them to kindly unfollow 😁
People will get used to not knowing locations the more people get on board 😉

We like not knowing exact locations in episodes on UA-cam and watch for the content not location. It leaves a little something to enjoy while exploring ourselves. I also think everyone to some extent is sick of seeing people do the wrong thing and willingly post it for likes/comments/subscribers. If they are going to put it out there in the universe, it's open for discussion good or bad. Another great episode Dylan, fan of this channel and content.

Hello Sharyn, this is so well said! I also feel the moment people feel challenged they play the mental health card. Which is really rude for people with a real mental health battle. 3 channel have told me I'm affecting their mental health, I told them there is alot harder things to deal with in life then some constructive criticism from people, suggests you seek help 🤣😂🤣

Lil & Jake have also said on a previous episode that they were over people talking to them and need a quite spot to camp, not sure if that was there exact words or not but pretty much what they ment. God man if you want to become UA-camrs expect people to recognise you, they are the ones making you money. (Use this comment if you wish).

Hi regarding lil and Jake hammering them every video you are going to get 1 or 2 of your followers that will go after them on all media outlets with hurtful hate and abusive comments. I can see how they would feel stressed and upset you have to remember there mental health, example there was a couple max and lee Chanel travelling same kind of situation. A bloke had a Chanel that kept going after her and his troll subscribers joined in with hateful abusive comments until they broke her and she committed suicide , something for you to think about. Yes pull people up on doing the wrong thing but don't just keep hammering the same couple remember there mental health

I see your point and trust me I'm sick of talking about them, but they just keep putting up videos making the situation worse. Lil and Jake controle what is said said about them, no one else bar them can controle the narrative. If they want people to stop trying to get it spoken about on here it's easy. Just travel like normally people out there.
And trust me they are not really struggling their views and subscribers have gone through the roof, they now making some really good coin off youtube.

Everyone wants to share their location because they know locations get the clicks. I myself don't share locations the majority of the time but I'll tell people if the message me. UA-cam is to blame for popular beaches and destinations being overrun since covid. Locals can no longer use their local beach they've been using for years as now they have to find room between hundreds of caravan's on the beach. I agree that popular free camps that have been made popular by social media should be changed to paid campsites rather than closing them off to everyone.
It will allow them to control how many vehicles access the beach or campsites at any one time allowing locals to still use the beaches. It also allows them to track who disrespects campsites & they are able to fine them as they have their details. The money can also be spent on improving the beach or campsite by installing more toilets & bins. There are plans now to ban all 4wds from the Yorke peninsula area not just wauraltee beach. People want to share locations because they know that's how they get search result views by travellers. But it's killing our beautiful hidden gem's & we're losing them

The hate is an interesting one, I feel alot of people see a group of people sharing their thoughts and options as hate, where really to me hate has to have insults or person attacks in them. I think everyone has been respectful so far with their feed back on the channels. People negative comments to me.... hahah definitely not constructive and have person insults in them. Thanks Dylan and Ash. Just a few points
22.58 is too short; there's not many 40 minute VLOGs that I watch, but I viewed all of your long form work easily. Probably 25 minutes is a sweet spot but up to 30 minutes is OK, IMHO.
You may have to ask Ash to read this to you 😉
Have a think about modified segments named "shout out and "call out".
Call Out one channel where they do the wrong thing and explain, as you did, what is wrong and why. Driving on vegetated sand is, of course, a no-no and if everyone did it then those dune banks would eventually collapse, perhaps catastrophically ... contact the channel and let them know that you propose to Call them out and ask for their comment before upload - provides a great opportunity for 'balance'.
Shout Out a channel or two who do the 'right thing'. That's subjective for choice but is objective as to the reason why it's a Shout Out. It may not be a hit with viewers but, I suspect, it could be if you choose an interesting angle which your brain is capable of doing.
Spot Reveal - if it's small and pristine then don't reveal; if it's well known, well, may as well say "we're at X marks the spot". There is one campsite on a certain island where a camp fire is allowed. You have to know which site it is and make a phone call; the rangers will provide a fire ring and remove it on your departure; this is up to date to Winter 2022 AFAIK. I know the island but not the site.
Spot Reveal - Perlubie Beach. Maybe four - five years ago, about a dozen or so mainstream YTs spent either side of NY eve on the beach and they had a blast. Unfortunately, the aftermath was a crowded, family-friendly spot inundated by 'travellers' seeking the same experience, well, all they did was create chaos and havoc, with rubbish, bad park-ups, loud early morning music, dog crap and inebriation; ruining it for the 'regulars'. He who must not be named didn't attend.
Spot reveal - 80 Mile Beach. I stay there for Winter every two years and fly my son in for Salmon fishing for a few weeks. How do I get my favourite site when you can't book? Well that's a secret. How do I get food for three months? Also a secret. There's no rain, sunny every day (don't necessarily need a powered site) and there's an overflow area. 80 Mile Beach is easy to find on a map but not 'easy' to get to. It's not a destination spot for most but it is located in a spot on the way to somewhere.
I'm ambivalent about the clip summary. In the old format, I could pause the video and write down the channel names or take a photo. Dunno really, it seems a little more difficult but the clips are informative.
I really like Ash as she is very supportive of your efforts. She appears to be like my wife when she was in her mid-twenties - appears surly (probably a bit harsh) on the outside but very engaging when you got to know her. I wouldn't have half the friends that I do now, without my Mrs Engaging.
Normally I'd split this post into individual paragraph posts, but I think that I'll leave it as-is in the interim.

As far as depression goes, I took my own life at 25 and was revived, definitely know to well about depression. How ever if someone doing somthing dangerous for views trys to kill themselves because a community trying to highlight the mistake, they should not be on youtube.
