I'm watching this 20 years after this live show and the song is over 50 years old. Yet this sounds 1000% better than any of the 'new' music I hear today
I never knew what the song was about. Now I do!! It's about her personality. The woman you're speaking about in the song. I thought it was about her clothes that. She was wearing.❤ No it's about her grandeur her persona the way she carries herself. How confident and sure she is of Every move she makes. Like what she's doing where she's going. Just like Jacqueline Onassis. I never knew what this song meant. Now I do.!! On top of that, she's got a man admiring her for being that way because she wears it well. You spend enough time working on yourself. You'll get to look that good too!! You have to love who you are on the inside and then you can love yourself on the outside.❤ Happy Sunday!😊
Always my favorite Rod Stewart song. Beautifully written and crafted, uptempo and yet slightly bittersweet. Wonderfully performed. They just don't write them like that anymore.
“You Wear It Well” (1972) was penned as a collaboration between Rod Stewart and Martin Quittenton. The subject of this song is Stewart writing a letter to an old flame. What she is wearing well might be her current life, the years passing by, or the birthday gown he once offered her. The tune falls squarely into Stewart’s central body of work, as another folksy “blue-eyed soul” ballad. This sounds pretty similar to “Maggie May” (1971), a huge hit from his previous album “Every Picture Tells a Story” (1971). Along with “You Wear It Well,” other charting singles from the “Never a Dull Moment” LP (1972) include a cover of Jimi Hendrix’s “Angel” (1971) and a version of Glenn Sutton’s “What Made Milwaukee Famous”, released by Jerry Lee Lewis in 1968. The line “Madame Onassis got nothing on you” refers to Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis (née Bouvier) - former First Lady to and widow of President John Fitzgerald Kennedy. At the time, Jacqueline - often called “Jackie O” - was the spouse of Greek tycoon Aristotle Onassis until his death in 1975. Jackie O made quite a reputation for herself as a woman of grace, charm and style, prompting the London Evening Standard to comment as follows : “Jacqueline Kennedy has given the American people… one thing they have always lacked : Majesty.” Ronnie Wood from The Faces and later of The Rolling Stones played guitar on this track. 💙🎵💚 May you rest in peace, unforgettable Jacqueline Lee Kennedy Onassis (1929 - 1994)… 🌹
Still coming here to listen to one of ROD's best performances ever . The Lady Fiddler is great and ROD STEWART is fabulous and I hope he stays around with his music a while longer. I love to listen to him and I have been doing that since the early 70's. The lyrics of this melody are great ! Such an enthusiastic audience...would love to have been there and share the joy ! .
One of ROD's performaces I like the best. He is SUPER but I think the lady playing the fiddle does a great job backing him up. What a great song and rythm ! Unforgetable.
Es war mein erster Urlaub nach der Wende in Bulgarien auf m Markt da kaufte ich mir meine erste CD von Rod ....Ich bin heute immer noch Fan.... einfach wunderbare Musik ❤❤😂
Everything is great about this performance. Rockin Rod, the hot violinist, the blonde in the audience and the guy with the tartan jester type headwear pumping his fist to the song even though he’s been ushered away. You see him again moments later still pumping his fist in the air to the rhythm of the song. It makes me laugh every time. I can picture him still fist pumping to it today lol. Right song for it
Such a great musician!! I don't think there is anyone, no matter their age, who doesn't have one of Rod's songs stuck in their head. I have been soooo blessed, to have heard Maggie May at 12 years old, and gone along for the ride of so many of Rod's hits. He is an amazing artist, and it has truly been my good fortune to have been able to enjoy his music for over 40 years!! Thanks Rod, for keeping us rockin and rollin. Your talent is unsurpassed by any other!!
this Albert Hall show is one of his goats, its worth the guys time to go see Rod just for the babes in the audience. The only other time i've seen more is Elvis in Vegas
Como vc canta e encanta com essa voz, meu Deus como eu gostaria de ser bonita e ter dinheiro para assistir teu show ao vivo. Mais te aprecio tanto que tenho que me contentar por aqui mesmo. Simples celular do Brasil . Deus te abençoe muito muito muito.
saw Rod in person at the Hollywood Bowl. Three hours into it? Rod was still singing his hits. It's only then that ye realize. How many there were - Rod's a catalogue at this point. "Rod-Rod, Cada-Logue." (repeat 12 times)
I have loved Rod Stewart since the first time I heard him sing. Great song. One of my favorites although I like/love all of his song's. The violinist/mandolin player is the best. Love it!
Great tune by Rod! Even though this was like a b-side of Maggie May, for me You Wear It Well equals the quality and the identity of Maggie May! BTW, what is Rod singing in min 3:18?? “You don’t get no man, you know I’m …???”
I'm watching this 20 years after this live show and the song is over 50 years old. Yet this sounds 1000% better than any of the 'new' music I hear today

I've had Wear it Well stuck in my head for about a year now. Almost once a day I have to stop whatever I'm doing to listen to it again.
It's really nice to see middle-aged British people enjoying themselves.

I don't know if there was a pop artist from that era , that seemed more joyful. Rod just emanates joy! We can all learn from him.
