I met a swedish gent and i presume his daughter and her husband. The elderly gent was telling me he had lost his wife six months ago and met her on Dykelands Road when they were young and they went to the Seaburn Dances. He asked if Notreannies were still open told him no. I informed him if he went to Minchellas and asked for Sandra she used to be one of the notreannies. He had come back for a visit. It would have been a wonderful story for the Echo but alas it never happened and they are probably back home in Sweden by now. Lovely people to meet. And lovely to hear about the past history of Sunderland.
Thank you, I’ve just been back for a visit this week bit of a trip down memory lane the is still a good place we were very lucky to grow up in such a great place again thank you
@@TheStobb50 yep we used to kick a ball about all day and night you could play on the beach at night when the tide was out with the help of the street lights…just about
I was a teen in the 1970's and had great times at Seaburn fair, the ghost train, hoop la, air rifles, coconut stall, amusement arcade, candy floss, the boating lake, the minature train fish and chips to finish !, wish i had a time machine.
