Speaking of underrated gems to watch please can you both react to “The Grey” starring Liam Neeson Ironically from the same year (2011) and Dog Soldiers (2002) both are so engaging and have great story lines and competent characters. Highly recommend both if you’re able to react to them.
I was never pro UFC but I did amateur MMA fights when I fought for American top team. And one thing I have learned is you gain a great amount of respect for the person you fight. Sometimes letting out all that pent-up aggression towards each other allows you to become closer and put all the BS behind you. Tommy was not a little boy who wanted to be hugged he was a fighter, a marine, a warrior And he felt the love When his brother is screaming I love you knowing he doesn't want to do it but he has to
I think Nick Nolte was absolutely oscar worthy in this movie. The hotel room scene is some of the most real acting I've ever seen. Not sure who he was up against, but i wish he would've won.
Every time I watch this movie, i think of my late younger brother. We fought viciously a lot in our teens. My dad and I were close, but my brother wasnt, always mad at him for not being there when it counted. My dad and i always go to the movies on the weekend and we saw this in theaters. All those memories came back and i still get emotional about how i treated my brother. Fast forward 2022 and my dad is dying, been in the hospital for a week with him and my brother shows up and i hadnt seen in probably 10 years. I was in awe that he was there. Our dad passed the following week after, we grew closer and just wanted to spend time with and make up for it. 3 months later, he passes. I never had that conversation I wanted to say sorry for hurting him. Love your brothers and sisters, they are your best friends for life. This is a great reaction to a great movie.
Just being his brother, still a part of the family that you wanted to hang out and spend moments of life with means more than you know to someone "estranged" from the usual family gatherings. Just knowing you were open to it said more to him than words probably could have. Just my take on this, I hope you dont mind.
@@Monicalake1that's crazy to think about, I saw the fighter once and never thought about it again. Seen Warrior multiple times and think about it all the time
GREAT movie indeed, but definitely not underrated as it was rated very well overall by critics and consumers while Nolte was nominated for best supporting actor.
Joel Edgerton was actually a professional Kickboxer in his youth, but he hadn't trained in 15 years before doing this movie. Tom Hardy had never trained in any kind of fighting before this movie, but it did introduce him to BJJ, which he does continue to train in to this day.
37:36 I grew up with an alcoholic parent, and that scene really made me break down. Most people it hit because he was trying to be sober and relapsed. For me, it's the kid who used to fear the abusive, scary monster now see the fragile, old human that can't hurt you just only themselves. That will always stay with me.
This is also one of my favorite movies, so I will offer a few of my thoughts on it. 1) The difference in fighting styles between the brothers and their occupations: Tommy a soldier using brute force to walk through any object in his path vs. Brendan a physics teacher using technique and tenacity to work through each "problem" in a much more cerebral way. 2) In their lives after their separation each brother sought out and found the thing they were missing, a brother. For Tommy it was his friend Manny that he served with and for Brendan it was Frank, who not only acted as a trainer, but a friend and brother. 3) As much as Paddy wanted to reconnect with his sons and be a part of their lives and make amends(AA 9th step) in the end he takes solace in seeing them reconcile their differences and begin to take care of each other. He seems to finally accept that he's not going to be able to make direct amends but can finally let it go now that they are reunited. When I was a truck driver I spent a few months falling asleep to this movie. I would always be woken up as "About Today" started playing in the final match. I'd wake up, watch the end, cry like a baby, then go back to sleep. This movie is the ultimate treatise on Brotherhood and why it is so important in a man's life.
No words 😪😪 This film continues to grace new fans and it simply.. changes you and stays with you. There is nothing else to say.. just thank you for sharing! 💙
I love how they keep Nick Nolte's past actions vague. There's no flashbacks, nothing specific, which masterfully lets our imaginations roam. We can't help but think, "Damn, what did he do?" And it's all from his sons' reactions to him. It's just brilliant writing supported by top-tier acting.
I think the way this movie portrays the realistic approach of MMA and forgiveness , it wasn't too "Commercial" and the editing also was damn perfect , no extra scenes , no unnecessary slow mo closeups . Maybe that's why it didn't appeal to a LARGER audience.
The way this film broke me as a teenager, only to build me back up with that rendition of The National's About Today at the end. Y'all had me weeping with this revisit.
Fun fact when this movie was film Tom Hardy had 0 fight experience. Joel was actually the one with the Taekwondo background. That's why Tom's fights are so short and Joel's fight scenes were extended and choreograph. They just made the fight scene and the story work for the actors' skill levels. Now of course everyone knows Hardy does BJJ and all that.
Yeah. I also feel like it kind of fits their characters. One goes for submission wins, and the other goes for knockouts. But I have to say, I actually wouldn’t have minded if Tommy had fought Koba, and Brandon had fought Mad Dog. It would be like having the brothers fight a precursor to each other. Imo.
This is movie is so great, everyone brings their A game and that scene in the casino where Tom Harry’s character Dad is REALLY REALLY trying to be a part of his life and Hardy just throws the coins at him, just gets me for some reason A+ movie
I think this movie hits hard when you have brother younger brother or older brother like Kristian did. I love my brother and I’m sure Kristian loved his. Great movie about brothers/family coming together. This was great! Love when he beats on mad dog lol 😂
Overlooked, not underrated. It was rated really well overall by the majority of critics and consumers. Nolte was even nominated for best supporting actor.
Man... I cried watching this and still typing this with watery ass eyes but I just wanna vent. I was in High School in a class called Elements of Film and I wrote a paper on this movie and I got highest grade. This movie moved me so damn much. SO MANY THINGS about it got me as it would any human being. This is my number 1 I love everything about it. I learned the ending song on Guitar and just... I struggled if I related to Tommy or Brendan more. For years even when was bigger into MMA and trained when i was young, im 29 now, i was just so angry and had family drama and just I felt like Tommy the weight of everything just blinded by hate but didnt have to heart to be that cold and put others first because I treated friends that were like family more than my family treated me and just idk I'm venting this out to random people but man this dang movie gets me everytime it puts me right back into those places and seeing others watch it and be moved. I wish I can just sit the world down and watch this together and give this movie the credit it deserves. Thank you guys so much. Have my follow, god bless you and everything just thank you. Ima go wash my eyeballs now and sleep its like 3am
This is the movie that introduced me to Tom Hardy. I knew it would be Brandon who ended up winning because he was doing it for his family. I was always going for Tommy though. I felt so bad for Tommy. He ran away with his mother, then she died. Experienced the abuse his mother went through with his father. His brother choosing Dad over them then Brandon having the balls to blame him for not letting him know about their mother’s passing. Brandon said I forgave you but didn’t apologize for abandoning his family until that last scene. I like how that’s all Tommy really needed. Tommy basically says this when they are at the beach. YOU stood here for your Girlfriend, YOU stayed here with dad. YOU made the choice to not leave with your Mom and me. That’s all fine for Brandon. The thing is as far as we know the Mom and Tommy didn’t need forgiveness. The mom was in a bad situation and she got her son out of it. Brandon was most likely 17/18 & likely an adult. Brandon made his own choice to stay unlike Tommy who was probably 1-4 years younger. If anyone needed to forgive it was Tommy. Brandon’s issues stood mostly with his parents. Tommy’s issues stood from his parents and his brother.
What you are forgetting is Brandon being 4 years old, had 4 years extra of being abused. He was rescued by his girlfriend/wife. If the mom isn't protecting either kid from an abusive alcoholic, it then becomes self preservation for Brandon. All very well for Tommy to feel abandoned and not be protected by Brandon, but who was protecting Brandon? He was offered an escape route to make a life with his GF, or stay in a shit situation.
Agree 100%. This movie gets me every single time…many different scenes. The conversation on the beach …the drunk breakdown in the hotel room….and of course the “I love you / tap out” …etc. So emotional…so powerful. Incredible movie.
This is one of the greatest "sports" films ever. This is above rocky for me. I love this movie so much. It's the most underrated film in cinema history.
It's not just the ending that gets me in general (About Today, Tommy tapping, etc), but it's the fact Brendan is the real big brother at the end. Once it's all done, he's waving the doctors and anyone else away and holding Tommy cuz he's protecting his little brother. This movie gets tears out of me EVERY damn time but it's so good
Frank Grillo, Brendan's manager stars in a three season tv series. "Kingdom" (2014) in which he plays an MMA legend who owns a gym where he trains potential future champions including his son. Nick Jonas also stars. Worth a few nights binging!
Great reaction K & Sam 👊🏾!! Warrior is one of my favourite films!!! Just a raw emotional rollorcoster 🥹.. criminally underrated film and Tom Hardy is absolutely perfect in the role. And Nick Nolte's performance is sublime.. When he fell off the wagon, that scene is so powerful 🥹 Tommy actually cared in that moment.
i love the direction of the audio design at the end where everything bleeds out, all the cheers and crowd roars, to emphasize how important this relationship is. and nick noltes face when he realized his sons are back to being brothers. jesus christ this movie was such a masterpiece
This movie did such a good job in showing a family dynamic, the loss and struggles that 3 people can go through, the realities of an alcohol fuelled abuse and death of a parent and estranged brothers. Two people who went on very different paths both having their own reasons for needing the money. I think a lot of people don't really understand Brendan's story though. He's someone who didn't receive the love from his family growing up and then felt betrayed when Tommy and the mother left. He ended up being a good father and husband raising a family that never need to go through the things he went through, and then when he had money troubles he felt like he failed his family and so resorted back to the fighting.
Every time I rewatch this movie, which ive watched nearly 20 times, and the song kicks in at the finale...there's no way to pull that knot out of my throat. It's not just a movie it's art.
Saw this movie when it came out and have rewatched it probably 20 times since. So great, so damn great. All actors involved are flat out incredible, and the writing is just perfection. Still hits me in the heart every time I watch it.
I've probably recommended this movie more than any other. It's one of the best movies that many people are totally unaware of. Joel, Tom, and Nick are all brilliant. The falling off the wagon scene in the hotel room, between Tom and Nick, is one of the best scenes ever filmed. F*cking brilliant.
ive watched it maybe 5-6 times, its a movie that just hits home, amazingly good. I just get it when He tapped but only after he knows hes loved finally letting go. i did cry tbh as i was going through stuff with my brother, and yes we got back after 8yrs apart, i get this fight 100% and the movie. Will always hold a place.
My absolute favorite movie of all time. This mirrors the relationship I have with my brother. Who coincidentally wanted to box and inspired me lol. This movie gets tears from me every single time. Hardy was a beast, Edgerton was a beast
all the feels here. this is why i love these types of things . i get to grow through that emotion again, shares others rides with them . this is why i love movies . what a way to share theselittle moments of life
Agree with it all...one of my favorite movies of all time regardless of genre. It is so incredibly well done and the story is told so well as far as when they reveal more details...unreal and I can rewatch it and still feel it the same.
This is in my top ten favorite movies. I just think they really grasp all the hurt and trauma the whole family went through. This movie and Interstellar gets me everytime.
This is, and always be, one of my top ten movies of all time. The acting, the dialog, the character development, the music, the old-school use of split screen shots, the way the plot unfolds... is just simply amazing. Pure anger vs. pure desperation. Who will win. What could we, as an audience, ask for more?
Saw one reactor say, through sobs, “that’s a long way to go to get your brother back” and it’s a perfect distillation of the movie. It’s also a perfect period piece of the late 2000s with so many regular people affected by the recession and people upside in mortgages and/or broken lives from our forever wars. And on top of that it’s such a perfect Pennsylvania movie.
Can’t count how many times I’ve rewatched this and always wanted a different resolution for the father. But I think it works so well with how he was fighting so hard to be in their lives all movie and then allowing them to be together and letting that be. This movie is long but every scene is its own story. Great reaction guys😁
I teared up watching this review because I almost forgot how much I teared up at the movie. For the longest time I felt like a Tommy! This movie is a masterpiece!
Warrior is amazing, but Gavin O’Conner’s most underrated film is Pride and Glory! Great performances, amazing cast, and has the feel of a classic New York cop movie from the 70’s. And…no one has ever reacted to it on this platform! 🤷♂️
Man this movie, it's a real gem , a brothers love is a brothers love if you have a brother this movie hits harder especially if you have dealings and trouble at times if you have a brother call him .and that song " today " at the end is perfect the hat gesture from there dad . Shit that hit when I said that lost my dad last February.
Damnit now you have me wanting to watch this again. I’ll never understand why this movie didn’t get more love from the media or accolades. The acting from Grillo, Hardy, Nolte and Edgerton was impeccable
This is a great movie! Warrior made me more aware of MMA! There's a TV series called Kingdom starring Frank Grillo who plays a former MMA fighter and trainer of his two sons who are MMA prospects!
I watch this movie every now and again, makes me tear up every time, and I've come to the conclusion that the theme of this movie is that sometimes you just have to fight shit out in order to move forward.
My little brother name is Tommy, got me very emotional watching this with y’all, damn this movie gets me every time, probably my 20th time watching this
So glad to see other people also think this is one of the best, most underrated movies of all time. I still get excited to watch it with people who haven’t seen it
37:07 timestamp hit me so hard. Reminded me of my relationship with my father. Needing the man he is now when I was younger. Beautifully made film. One of my all time favorites.
Hey I remember I sent in an email back in the day when you worked at AMC, it was about the most emotional moment in sports, and I talked about this movie, I believe You, Campea and Schnepp were on that episode
Frank Grillo also stars in the MMA series "Kingdom", also starring Nick Jonas and Jonathan Tucker. a very underrated series that lasted 3 seasons, it had that emotion and grit of an underdog story about a struggling gym, a family of fighters, comebacks, redemptions, etc.
I love small details in movies, so I was able to spot something awesome. When Tommy taps out, he does so on the tattoo on Brendan's shoulder, which appears to be a family crest
one of my favourite. all time. if i look in sports category.. there is not better drama. all that acting.. the script.. the fights. and Tom Hardy of course..❤
I.m.o this is the greatest sports movie and Tom Hardy's best ever performance, he barely had line he sold it all just from his facial expressions and the way he carries himself.
This might be my new favorite reaction channel. Loved this reaction, I love this movie. It always makes me cry. You’re also hilarious Kristian. Love the funny comment between scenes, “nice sweater” 😂😂
When you asked if Tommy was looking for his father when he was looking at his Marines at the final fight… he was reminded of his brother Manny, by his brother Marines, and that’s when he realized he was about to fail them in his eyes…. And I’m sure that shattered his heart. I know that feeling. 😢😭
Hey all, thanks for watching! Make sure you please comment, like, help us out!
Speaking of underrated gems to watch please can you both react to “The Grey” starring Liam Neeson Ironically from the same year (2011) and Dog Soldiers (2002) both are so engaging and have great story lines and competent characters.
Highly recommend both if you’re able to react to them.
Now you have to watch Southpaw starring Jake Gyllenhaal
Brendan’s trainer was the main character in a 3 series MMA series called kingdom which was brilliant.
Has she seen the Rocky/Creed films?
How have you never seen this?!
It's a crime that this movie gets so forgotten. It's amazing
Agreed!!
Yep, most underrated movie ever
100% agree.
This is my no.1 favourite film from last decade. Unmissable masterpiece.
Never forgotten.
I turn as many people as I can to this great movie. Hats off to every actor but Nolte killed it!!
What gets me every time. Is Tommy doesn’t tap until his brother says “I love You”. He didn’t care about sorry’s. He wanted to feel loved.
And then the big brother protecting him and not letting anyone near him as they walk out, gets me every time
Yeah some people miss the significance of this but a lot have heard it enough to pretend they understand it if you know what I mean.
This...100%
I’m so annoyed by the people who say Tommy should’ve won because they don’t realize: He did!

I always say that this is one of the most underrated movies of all time, not just sports, but movies in general.
ive watched it maybe 5-6 times, its a movie that just hits home, amazingly good. I just get it when He tapped but only after he knows hes loved finally letting go. i did cry tbh as i was going through stuff with my brother, and yes we got back after 8yrs apart, i get this fight 100% and the movie. Will always hold a place.
Amazing movie, seen it countless times. I even teared at the hotel scene with drunk nick nolte being consoled by Tom hardy character. Beautiful movie.
My absolute favorite movie of all time. This mirrors the relationship I have with my brother. Who coincidentally wanted to box and inspired me lol. This movie gets tears from me every single time. Hardy was a beast, Edgerton was a beast
Kristian, I really loved this film. I’m glad that you all reacted to it! 🙌🏾
all the feels here. this is why i love these types of things . i get to grow through that emotion again, shares others rides with them . this is why i love movies . what a way to share theselittle moments of life
One of the greatest of all time. I have bought this movie 3 times on 3 formats. Worth it every time
Agree with it all...one of my favorite movies of all time regardless of genre. It is so incredibly well done and the story is told so well as far as when they reveal more details...unreal and I can rewatch it and still feel it the same.
Warrior and Fight Club. Every man must know these movies by heart.
Hands down one of the most underrated movies ever. Ending gets me everytime.
This movie and Shot Caller are 2 of most underated even unknown in many cases , masterpieces. Shot Caller is j7st on another level
This is in my top ten favorite movies. I just think they really grasp all the hurt and trauma the whole family went through. This movie and Interstellar gets me everytime.
I always assumed that the Oscars were rigged. Nick Nolte not winning best supporting actor for this role was the final proof for me.
This is, and always be, one of my top ten movies of all time. The acting, the dialog, the character development, the music, the old-school use of split screen shots, the way the plot unfolds... is just simply amazing. Pure anger vs. pure desperation. Who will win. What could we, as an audience, ask for more?
Been one of my favourites since the first. So unexpectedly emotional movie
'SOUTHPAW' (2015) is another excellent sports/drama.
This is one of my favorite movies too. I cried like a little baby at the end and it touches me every time I watch it.
I can't watch this film without crying every single time. It's one of the best film's ever made.
Such an underrated movie. Its shocking how many people have never heard of it, such a shame. Great reaction video!
This movie is so underrated. Insane cast and great performances.
Can’t count how many times I’ve rewatched this and always wanted a different resolution for the father. But I think it works so well with how he was fighting so hard to be in their lives all movie and then allowing them to be together and letting that be. This movie is long but every scene is its own story. Great reaction guys😁
One of my favorite reactions ever. May not be the most SEO friendly but so glad you guys did it. Sam is a gem!! Watched the reaction twice
Agree Kristian, whenever someone asks what's the most underrated movie? this is the first one that comes to mind. So glad you had Sam watch it
Same writer/director that did this movie, also did The Accountant.
You'll notice a theme in both movies.
Great reaction!
Really? I love the accountant. Second one is in the works
Yes this right here! Kingdom is phenomenal
I remember seeing it in the theatre and loving it so much.
The last shot when they are walking out. They have their arms around the tattoo of their mother.
Great symbolism.
Same as you Kristian I've seen this film multiple times. I got emotional and teared up with this watch along. Great choice and great videos 👍.
I watch this movie every now and again, makes me tear up every time, and I've come to the conclusion that the theme of this movie is that sometimes you just have to fight shit out in order to move forward.
This movie breaks and heals you at the same time. Also, because it bears repeating, Sam is just the best. What a cool human being.
I used to watch this one back to back, it's truly cinema art
Frank Grillo also stars in the MMA series "Kingdom", also starring Nick Jonas and Jonathan Tucker. a very underrated series that lasted 3 seasons, it had that emotion and grit of an underdog story about a struggling gym, a family of fighters, comebacks, redemptions, etc.
This movie will always be my undisputed #1 favorite movie.
I love small details in movies, so I was able to spot something awesome. When Tommy taps out, he does so on the tattoo on Brendan's shoulder, which appears to be a family crest
seeing the tears come so early I knew that one scene would hit yall super hard...
one of my favourite. all time. if i look in sports category.. there is not better drama. all that acting.. the script.. the fights. and Tom Hardy of course..❤
I don’t know why I thought these 2 were a couple until, 22:43 😅😅😅
Warrior is one of my favorites also! I couldn't tell you how many times I've seen it.
I love her reactions, so genuine. I love her in general!
One of THE best movies of all time - agree Kristian criminally underrated
I.m.o this is the greatest sports movie and Tom Hardy's best ever performance, he barely had line he sold it all just from his facial expressions and the way he carries himself.
This movie will and forever will be my favorite movie.
The best character building between 3 people in such a short time
Excellent flick, super underrated
This might be my new favorite reaction channel. Loved this reaction, I love this movie. It always makes me cry. You’re also hilarious Kristian. Love the funny comment between scenes, “nice sweater” 😂😂
When you asked if Tommy was looking for his father when he was looking at his Marines at the final fight… he was reminded of his brother Manny, by his brother Marines, and that’s when he realized he was about to fail them in his eyes…. And I’m sure that shattered his heart. I know that feeling. 😢😭
