I actually have never used the calibration tool! I didn't know it could fix extreme color casts! I always used the temperature and tint bar but some times it wasn't enough, I had to rely on Photoshop's neural filter. Thank you for this tutorial, I'll try it later with my own photos :)
With extremes you are talking about a color shift that is outside the spectrum of temperature and tint. So you have to take a different approach. I'll be uploading details color cast solution for all the colors in the upcoming weeks.
I have the same issue with a concert shoot that I did and the images are messed up due to magenta, red, blue lights (similar to your first shot). So far I tried multiple times processing them but I wasn't happy with any of them. Will try your techniques and see if I could produce better results. Thanks a lot. BTW, please consider not having background music because it makes concentration difficult. :)
In the upcoming weeks I am posting a fix for every individual color that may produce an unwanted color cast. I just released the blue/ cyan one only channel. I also use masks, which is very important for your use with concerts. Thanks for your music advice! The music was so loud so you couldn't hear me breath since I was sick and only could breath in the mic like I was a fire breathing dragon 🐉😂
Thanks - for the wedding dress photo wouldn’t it have been easier to use the white balance picker and put on the dress as a starting point? Also to mention for others - when you increase darkness by 2 stops like in previous dark red photo you will bring up noise so good to run the denoise on that.
Normally you would use a WB picker as you point out, but in none of the pictures in the examples does that work. Because the color cast is too much outside the WB spectrum. This video really focuses on that small percentage of photos where the color balance is so off that you have to fix it in other ways. If you look in my color grading playlist I have made a separate video of many colors where I show that the WB picker can't solve it.
@@royvanderwens thanks. I was really meaning just to use the WB picker as the starting point and then do the rest of your suggestions (not using the WB as the total fix). But I sure appreciate you taking time to reply. I’ve got some ghastly color cast shots from relative’s wedding and will try it out

If you want to use a Preset, you should apply it first. But it is depending on your Preset of it works with your color cast. Because the color is outside the normal spectrum. So the best thing to do is a full manual color grade for the best result.
@@royvanderwens great man thank you so much and when you full manual color grade that’s pretty much starting from scratch after fixing the white bal and see what looks best depending on the preset
In these cases you always do a manual grade. Because the basic photo is already so different from the rest because of the color cast. Clients don't mind it being different. Just make sure there skincolor and clothing color match.
This is just my humble, respectful, opinion. Making your commentary and instruction family friendly would make your views and channel go even further. I would like to show your videos to my class but because of the colorful language, I wouldn't be able to. You never know who's watching your videos. Keep up the good content!
Thanks for your hard work BUT I have often found keeping the color cast (especially your first example) is a memory of what the event actually looked like, unless it was a complete fuck up by the photographers. Then they hired the wrong photographer!
My mother taught me that anything said before the "BUT" doesn't count. So I'm going to focus on that 😜 Any photo taken is an interpretation of what the creator of the photo sees, not what it really is. The client knew beforehand (because I know the location) that the light was terrible and asked if I could fix that later and interpret it my way, so I did. So in this case and also of the other photos, it was an unwanted color cast. Cheers!
That could be done much easier in body. With ISO 1600-6400 (depending on environment) utilise an on camera TTL flash, direct it to a white wall or ceiling to avoid any hard shadows, with that dark background set exposure competition at least set to -1.3 to -1.7 (99% needed like so having similar light conditions) and click, perfect image straight out of camera. Of course only if you want to kill the moody spot lights instead of keeping them 😇

Hello Mr.Roy,
Why this channel isn't going viral 🥺 this is so helpfull channel❤️
That's very kind of you ❤️ I just want to help fellow photographers by giving back what I've learned over the years, that's the most important part 🙏🏽
I think your videos would appeal to a broader audience if you have your LightRoom language set to English.
Fully agreed! Problem is that I can't change the language because Adobe adapts to your operating system language.

How do I learn how to put the right numbers in the colors calibration?
It's alle in the nuances. So taking it step Bij step. So you could fill in my numbers and work and learn from that point.
Only channel mixer works in this type condition for fast results
If you had watched the video you'd know that the channel mixer is literally the tool you don't use.
