Why do people need to snack? I’ve never needed to eat between meals. Snacks definitely weren’t a thing when I grew up.
It's not so much a need, but a benefit. There's no evidence that it speeds up your metabolism, but it certainly can be great for limiting cravings, providing a more even blood glucose level and impacts mood for some people. If you're not a snacker, then just adding the piece of fruit or nuts etc recommended to meals is good nutritionally.
