My post QC ikuchi runs on bicycle chain paraffin oil once a year whether it needs it or not. Same cleaning schedule. Thie ikuchi has replaced my small Sabenza as my town and office EDC.
My ikuchi came stiff as hell, wouldn’t flip! Opened it up and bent the compression bar back just a little. The ceramic ball on it with the added tension in it’s original form, wouldn’t flip. But a quick bend and it’s good to go, love it. Just ordered a smock
Just a small point: The CQI Ikuchi runs on bearings. Great video, as usual. Definitely two of Spyderco's better pure slicers. As another commenter said, two knives that look so different at a glance, but actually have a lot in common. I've always grouped them together (along with the sliverax) but never really knew why. Thankfully I won a set of solid CF smock scales in a contest from a super generous UA-camr and once those chintzy peel ply scales were gone the knife was totally transformed!
I got the smock in 20cv with smooth black G10. It would be cool if Spyderco had done a similar treatment to the ikuchi in a sprint run. I really dislike that peel ply. Great video as always!

Nice to hear you fixed it, but this shouldn’t be happening, it should be perfect if bought new
The Ikuchi would have been a perfect knife for the button lock just like the Smock.
Great review thx 👍🏼
Thanks for watching 😎 👊

Thanks for the clarification!! Indeed so different but so similar..I liked them both! Thanks for watching 😊
Crazy how two knives can be completely different yet seem so similar
Same same but different 😉
Have the smock but not the ikuchi which I’m hoping to add to the `collection‘ briefly. Great video Fab, thanks 😄👍😎
Can’t make up my mind wich one to get both nice nice review thanks
Yes it’s a tough one eh!

Oh cool!! Thank you sir😊
I have had these in my wish list for quite a while, but I keep passing them up. Not really sure why.
They come up quite often in the secondary market, so not all hopes are lost 😉
I prefer the Ikuchi. I wish they didn’t use that cheapo peel-ply CF.
💯 agree
The liners aren't nested. Super easy to make a set of scales using your material of choice!
I made a set from solid CF using only a dremel.
