Cycling tour Norway Myrkdalen Sogndal 1 09 2023

We are taking a bike tour through Norway. It was a cold night, about 5 degrees at night. From the campsite in Myrkdalen the route goes north, we immediately start climbing to the approximately 1000m high Vikafjell.
We pass some ski villages and a beautiful waterfall at a series of hairpin bends near Hólesvingane. The road climbs a little further over the plateau. The plateau is slightly less rugged and the peaks are slightly less high. At the Storehaug tunnel we cannot take the old road, because there is only a footpath. Fortunately, the tunnel is wide and illuminated, but at 1.1 km it is quite long.
We have lunch on the other side of the tunnel and have beautiful views of the clouds and the mountain landscape.
This is followed by a long, fast descent to Viksøyri with beautiful views of the Sognefjord. We cross the fjord at Vangsnes to Hella. We don't have to wait too long for the ferry and the crossing is free again. From Hella we follow a busier road along the banks of the Sognefjord until we find a nice campsite 3 km beyond Sognedal. This is a luxury campsite with all amenities.
