  • This is the most common fault with any Bentley Continental GTC.
The sensor is on the frame rails on the driver side. This sensor is easily removed with one screw. The cover clicks on. Inside are two gears. One gear has a small embossed dot on a gear tooth. One gear has a small embossed dot in between two teeth. These two gears often skip a tooth. You can remove, realign, reinstall, close the top (manually if necessary, see my other video on reseting rollover bars/ manual top operation), turn the car off, start the car. If this was the only fault, top should work as normal.
To prevent this from repeating, after installing the sensor, wrap fabric tape, or electrical tape if you want to be lazy, around the sensor and rail, ensuring it is tight enough to keep the case pressed against the gears. Do not let it build up too thick as to come into contact with other rails.
If you want to replace the sensor, part number is 3W7959613B

The dots are little popped up dots. If you take the cover off of the sensor, you should see one dot on one gear in between two teeth. One dot on the other gear lined up with a tooth. Take the removable gear off of the axis and then align the two gears so that the one on the tooth goes between the two teeth that the other dot is between. When the teeth are meshed together, the two dots should line up perfectly with each other when the sensor moves such that the teeth where the dots are, mesh together

@@1ayahaday make sure you put the cover back on and wrap electrical tape around it and the frame to hold it together or it will come apart and skip the gear again

The top can be in any position. You remove the sensor from the frame, take the cover off, make sure the dots align, put the cover back on and wrap in tape not to interfere with the top and reinstall on the top. Then manually close and lock both the rear cover and the top bar with the special key that came with the car. Clear codes. Turn key off for 20 sec. Then everything should work unless you have other problems like the flaps or low oil or pressure loss.

The gears should not allow the dot to move teeth. So if you align the gears and install, they should not move again. Unless the cover is coming off.
