- We visit the Elden Pueblo in the Coconino National Forest near Flagstaff, Arizona, famous for its 800-year-old pueblo ruin archaeological site.
On this episode of Searching for History, Erin and I visit the Coconino National Forest, located in north-central Arizona, near Flagstaff and explore the Elden Pueblo. The pueblo is the site of an Sinagua village that was inhabited around 1070 to 1275 A.D. Elden Pueblo is a 60-70 room pueblo containing mounds, pit houses and smaller pueblos. If you are on your way to the Grand Canyon but you do not have time to stop at Wupatki National Monument, then take the time to visit the Elden Pueblo so that you can learn about Sinagua village life and culture.
