They keep saying it's positive, but in the same article... pretty sure the devs mentioned sony wanted nothing to do with it anymore. These youtubers have an infectious type of optimism.
Wasn't the game fully cancelled though? Or were they just rumors still? I remember hearing while ago that the dev team that was working on it saying it was fully cancelled, or at least shelved and was no longer being worked on. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be wrong about that! A KOTOR game with a modern touch, like changing the combat to be more action and dynamic (the original style was fine of course, but I feel that a change like that would do the game some serious good, so long as the depth in the story was at least kept the same), would be amazing. Like... a game where we can fully create our own force user and take full advantage of what the Force can do with abilities and amazing feats that makes you truly feel powerful. I think it's safe to say everyone would love a Star Wars game like that!
I mean this all sounds great n all but I'm concerned about the people remaking it. I kept hearing about some woman who hated Star Wars re writing the KOTOR story which DOES NOT need to be re written.
The only thing that would make me excited for this remake at this point is watching it in action, this gets the same treatment as BioWare and Dragon age 4 imo.
I'd rather it just be a remaster. Keep the core gameplay and story. Add nothing, just spruce up the graphics, fix the bugs. Maybe make the Kotor 2 ending mod canon, and add the gameplay improvements from Kotor 2 to Kotor 1 (such as two weapon loadout slots). We can't get Canderous/Mandalore back for fresh line recordings since his voice actor died. So just take the existing audio, clean it up as you can. Maybe rerecord the music for some higher-def and orchestral versions of the scores. But most of all, add nothing to the story or dialogue that wasn't already there (exception for the Kotor 2 ending mod). Similarly, don't remove anything that is there already in terms of dialogue or story. Do not censor anything like, say, Mira's outfit, the dancer's outfit, the fact that Brianna/Handmaiden trains in her undies. Basically, don't "update the game for modern audiences." Don't bring in groups like Sweet Baby Inc to "Consult" (aka ruin) the game. All we want is a remaster with improved graphics, cleaned up audio and music (quality wise), fixed bugs, the same classic gameplay, story, and dialogue, and the Kotor 2 Ending Mod (but that last one is optional). Do that, and the game will sell amazingly well. But bring in "consultants" like Sweet Baby Inc. or do anything to censor, alter, or change anything to the game for the sake of "Modern Audiences" and the game will be the next "Suicide Squad." Ball is in your court, game devs. Choose wisely. Choose to honor the original and respect the fans. We are watching.
I'm not convinced that the game is 100% saved from 'modernization' but being freed from corporate oversight is definitely and improvement. Especially from the clutches of Embracer. That would have definitely killed the game just like Saint's Row.
It might be more complicated legally than this. Can anyone confirm that it was the developers that held the license or the publishers? Jason’s comment doesn’t guarantee anything. It’s entirely possible that they are still continuing work since they were already far along, and they will continue to do this until a lawyer tells them they can’t. If they were the ones that held the license, then perhaps this is a good sign. But if Embracer held the license, the game is the walking dead.
Devs: “We’re never remaking this game” *20 years later* Indie team: “We remade this game” Devs: “No, stop. We remade the game; now take this money.” Why are devs always like this?
I just hope that the game isn’t exclusive to ps5 or a timed exclusive but rather releases on Xbox and pc as well ps5 (switch As well if it can run it not sure maybe the switch 2)
Where's Star Wars Eclipse ? That game's trailer feels like a force hallucination on Dagobah !! LoL don't know if it's really going to happen in the future or not ?
Saber has an…iffy history with remastering classics. They botched Halo CEA but did better with H2A. I’m cautious about them taking on a whole remake. Honestly though I just want KOTOR to be on Steam Workshop like its sequel already is
I never really saw the point of that remake. Like you can play on pc and mobile, that'd cover 99% of the market of people who might be interested in an old school SW rpg. I'd be more interested in seeing new rpgs
how long has it been going on for now? Longer than my active playthrough of kotor u can see on my channel, reaching 157 episodes? Im not hearing "release date; progress" - im hearing "company bought company; company fired"
I handle a remake if it had more story content or addtional connections between Kotor 1/2. If its going to be the same old story i’d much prefer they move onto a sequel ss well
I still don't know that I _want_ this thing. I've spent more than 100 hours playing KOTOR, and the last thing the beloved classic needs is a developer "re-making" it if they care more for what the platform of a beloved game might do for their reputation than for faithfulness to the original and the fans it rightfully earned. Make it beautiful, re-master the audio, tighten up the combat, re-engineer the swoop racing? Be my guest. Alter the plot and characters? Better to leave it in peace.
Because BioWare doesn’t exist, they are a skin suit that if EA wouldn’t get backlash they would of closed their studio by now. They can’t even get the next dragon age out.
To do the remake right they simply have to get 4 things right. 1. Keep the original story intact, no adapting it to "modern" audiences. The story is perfect as it is now. 2. No changes of race, gender or personality. The characters have their own charisma which is what makes KOTOR such a great and wonderful game. 3. MODs, that you can modify the game with relative ease, one of the things that has kept KOTOR alive for me even today. 4. Don't make the remake worse than the original.
I'm sorry but I will only believe it when I see it. People citing BG3 as reference to a successful large scale RPG developed by an independent studio. They seem to forget that Larian Studios (1996) is just as old as BioWare (1995) and they had 3 decades to build the expertise, tech and stable financing that cumulated in BG3. As far as I can tell Saber Interactive has none of that going for them. They done mostly ports of video games from one platform to another. Yes they accumulated quite a few studios over time but when you look at it it is mostly shooters, retro-games, mobile games and smaller strategy games. A KotOR remake as people envisioned it is an entirely new game and a large scale RPG on top of it. As far as I can tell they have done nothing like this before. Yea sure there is always a chance they hit the ball on the first swing... but chances are higher they miss if they ever enter the field. Because after all maybe it just kept around to keep the company value higher...
Remaking a game that is so treasured and loved by true Star Wars fans, in these turbulent years where everything is controlled by special interests who want to shift the world in the more messed up direction....I dunno. Simply doesn´t look like its gonna be a good idea. None of the original devs are involved. You have to know and understand the lore REALLY REALLY well in order to bring this to life, and have a well thought out, well made game. Most remakes today suck. Not gonna hold my breath for this one.
this will simply get blocked again. like the last one we should of been playing more than 5 years ago. those wankstains waited until those guys had almost finished making it before they set the dogs on them and put an end to it. this remake will also never see the light of day. not unless the makers release it for free.
I'm kind of scared by this, not for KOTOR but for Saber's other games. Notably Jurassic Park Survival. I'm an even bigger JP fan then Star Wars fan so it has me just a bit worried.

@@jibril2473do they at least use lube on you?
@@jibril2473he has a right (and moreso a reason) to complain, doesn't he? It's not like we all should be positive just for the sake of positivity, or because things seem to not change over time. But if everyone will just keep their mouth close and not pay any attention to what's going on with their beloved franchise - then yeah, surely there will be not even sligthest chance for a change left.
HMMM could be promising. Can we use West End Star Wars as the RPG system? Lol. Maybe wouldnt work as a video game...
"Can't say it'll ever come out, it's alive though"
UA-camrs: "KOTOR DEVS CONFIRM GAME IS STILL COMING".
Bruh, haven't we been through this like 7 times already lmao. Just stop talking about it until a trailer comes out.
They keep saying it's positive, but in the same article... pretty sure the devs mentioned sony wanted nothing to do with it anymore. These youtubers have an infectious type of optimism.
Don't trust to hope, it has forsaken these lands.
Thanks for the update.
It’s already works on Xbox one if you have the disc or digital download. Graphics are ok. We don’t need everything remade.
I mean this all sounds great n all but I'm concerned about the people remaking it. I kept hearing about some woman who hated Star Wars re writing the KOTOR story which DOES NOT need to be re written.
This is some good news
just saying if Obsidian isn't the ones to remake Kotor 2 then I don't want it.
Avellone isn't with Obsidian anymore, pretty much only like 3 programmers remain there.
The only thing that would make me excited for this remake at this point is watching it in action, this gets the same treatment as BioWare and Dragon age 4 imo.
this is the way
Don't make me hope again, I can't handle the disappointment anymore.
It's only a good thing IF the people already employed there are driven by integrity and not agenda's and messaging.
Ugh, I literally just got the Switch port of KotOR
Anyone got the glitch where ground grass textures on Voss look awful? They look like mipmapping was disabled for those textures.
Does this mean anything for Space Marine II?
But bring in "consultants" like Sweet Baby Inc. or do anything to censor, alter, or change anything to the game for the sake of "Modern Audiences" and the game will be the next "Suicide Squad."
Ball is in your court, game devs. Choose wisely. Choose to honor the original and respect the fans. We are watching.
Canderous can be recast, Persona 3 Reload showcased that you can recast an entire cast and it'll work.
Just never include sweet baby inc into the mix, I’m fine with the delay
But if Embracer held the license, the game is the walking dead.
hopefully this gets made....
Devs: “We’re never remaking this game”
*20 years later*
Indie team: “We remade this game”
Devs: “No, stop. We remade the game; now take this money.”
Why are devs always like this?
I just hope that the game isn’t exclusive to ps5 or a timed exclusive but rather releases on Xbox and pc as well ps5 (switch As well if it can run it not sure maybe the switch 2)
Neh, better play the original, higher chances it will be better than anything new.
Told y'all it wasn't cancelled 😊
Guaranteed at least one of their games is getting cancelled so they can afford to go private. Likely either Kotor or Jurassic Park.
Where's Star Wars Eclipse ? That game's trailer feels like a force hallucination on Dagobah !! LoL don't know if it's really going to happen in the future or not ?
Isn't this a clip from 110% Star Wars? I don't see any credits to his video
KOTOR remake is still 3+ years away imo
Is it still gonna be ps5 only?
Saber has an…iffy history with remastering classics. They botched Halo CEA but did better with H2A. I’m cautious about them taking on a whole remake.
Honestly though I just want KOTOR to be on Steam Workshop like its sequel already is
Until we hear we going to get a Kotor 3 is coming then will be AWESOME!!!! Not a remake that’s Disney BS version.
I never really saw the point of that remake. Like you can play on pc and mobile, that'd cover 99% of the market of people who might be interested in an old school SW rpg.
I'd be more interested in seeing new rpgs
What is the best KOTOR news to hear?
That Jennifer Hale wants to come drink with me and she’s bringing Gillian Andersen.
Is it coming to Xbox series S.X because it was originally on Xbox
Probably not. By the time it comes out (if ever) Series X will be at least a generation too old. It would be like PS2 when PS4 came out.
I think it's a PS5 exclusive
Until they say anything else, the game is PS5 exclusive
Did you really pronounce Jason Schreier’s name as “Shereer”? 😆
Surnames like this are of German origin. It should probably be Shry-yer. You know, like Ine-shtine, Shni-der and so on (Volfen-shtine)
how long has it been going on for now? Longer than my active playthrough of kotor u can see on my channel, reaching 157 episodes? Im not hearing "release date; progress" - im hearing "company bought company; company fired"
I don't want a remake, I want a sequel or something like it. Kotor 1 & 2, while aged, are perfectly good games to go back and play today.
It's called "The Old Republic."
I handle a remake if it had more story content or addtional connections between Kotor 1/2. If its going to be the same old story i’d much prefer they move onto a sequel ss well
@@Azure_Fire A lot of people say this but in my opinion SWTOR doesnt come close to how good the original Kotor 1 & 2 are.
They no longer have the license to make the game after becoming independent. Its never happening or at least not with them.
Why not let Bioware just upgrade and polish the remake?
Because BioWare doesn’t exist, they are a skin suit that if EA wouldn’t get backlash they would of closed their studio by now. They can’t even get the next dragon age out.
Neither of these games need a remake.
Jedi academy and Battlefront need remakes. Revenge of the sith gets honorable mention
New game would be good news.
"their publisher"
You meant parent company?
Because after all maybe it just kept around to keep the company value higher...
is it still a PS5 exclusive??
Remaking a game that is so treasured and loved by true Star Wars fans, in these turbulent years where everything is controlled by special interests who want to shift the world in the more messed up direction....I dunno. Simply doesn´t look like its gonna be a good idea.
None of the original devs are involved. You have to know and understand the lore REALLY REALLY well in order to bring this to life, and have a well thought out, well made game. Most remakes today suck.
Not gonna hold my breath for this one.
Dude as soon as you started talking about special interests you lost me.
@@Azure_Fire What is messing with you exactly? Do you not see the agenda of disney, marvel, etc? Their garbage should never EVER touch KOTOR.
@@novemberzed9163 no I don’t see their agenda. I only see a company trying to make money, like all companies do.
@@Azure_Firethey don't make money, they burn it for their regressive message.

Oh, I'm afraid we'll be waiting longer than that
@@Azure_Fire fuck you. Don’t say that.
I'll happily wait 10 years of it means they erase the work their toxic feminist lead writer had done before she was fired.

@@Azure_Fire Oh wait.. was she not fired?
Oh please don't tell me she isn't.
this will simply get blocked again. like the last one we should of been playing more than 5 years ago. those wankstains waited until those guys had almost finished making it before they set the dogs on them and put an end to it. this remake will also never see the light of day. not unless the makers release it for free.
At this point I don't really care anymore. 🤷♂️
What do you know, I might actually be wrong with this one.
Just don't let Disney buy it
Unless they confirm that they won't use the trash the writers they brought on then it's still going to flop
I'm kind of scared by this, not for KOTOR but for Saber's other games. Notably Jurassic Park Survival. I'm an even bigger JP fan then Star Wars fan so it has me just a bit worried.
Say "schreier" one more time
