You wouldn't call investing on the stock market a sin, but in reality, you're placing a bet on the value of a company. When you short a company, you're literally praying on its downfall. But you likely wouldn't consider stock exchange a sin or theft. Calling gambling theft is exaggerated. It's a problem, no doubt. But to call it a sin between consenting adults? Addiction is a problem, and they need help, but it isn't sinful.
@@mnight207 if you are gambling to give it to charities then no, it is not a greedy act. And you may keep a portion of this to help insure that you will be able to do it again in the near future,...eg., counting cards is not gambling... it is using your god given abilities/talents to defeat (the bad) at its own game!
Its not stealing if you agree, worst logic ive ever heard. If i said you can take my tv and im ALLOWING you to take it if you make me a meal i like, that i MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT like, then if i end up liking that meal u made, and i allowed you knowingly ahead of time to take my tv, THAT is not theft, its nonsensical to say it is.
Idiotic response. Youre not agreeing to steal someone's money, you are agreeing to accept what a person is willing to give based on the agreed upon terms. What a stupid interpretation
lol. The way he emphasizes on “theft” and “steal” to make his point is a bit odd given the fact that the intention and willingness to which the bet was placed wasn’t a theft or robbery. I understand the addiction angle and all the problems that can follow, but get your facts straight. Gambling is not a sin, it’s the whole noise and dishonesty around it that is a sin…just like s&x is not a sin but fornic@tion and @dultery are
I wouldn't call Poker as much luck as other forms of gambling. It definitely takes skill to be good at poker. Avoid it if you can't control yourself. Otherwise, it doesn't seem sinful.
I totally disagree that it's stealing the other person's money... Big anything they're giving you a gift for winning the game. You can't steal something from someone that's agreed to give it away... I'm not saying gambling is not a sin, but your description is a stretch at best
Yeah, I think he's making a misguided analogy and that by definition, agreed upon terms is _not_ theft. It may be a sin (that is, being off-aim from God's principles for healthy behavior & transactions) depending on the nuances of the situation & what is in the players' hearts. For example, are the players intending to merely incentivize some effort in playing well and entertaining each other thru the game together? Or, are they significantly looking to _take_ from each other while contributing no equivalent tangible value in return? The latter would be considered an un-just economic transaction in Biblical terms because there was only taking of value, not fair exchange/trade of value.
Idk seems like they aren’t stealing your money when you deliberately hand it over. I didn’t find an answer however nothing came come in between us and the Love of God (referencing 8:38-39) and no I’m advocating gambling.
I use to date a guy, that when we would go for a drive, we would wind up at a Casino. Some times I would go in but never play the games and sometimes I would just sit in the vehicle. And then there were times I would just say can't we just go to our homes. My thinking was what would Jesus say if HE came back and we were in a Casino!!?
@Keiarah Johnston Probably not, being a freakin god and all. Dunno what concern he'd have for some random creatures on a rock in a near infinite expanse of more rocks that probably have way more interesting (and probably less evil) creatures on it. We're definitely not that interesting and shouldn't be so full of ourselves.
@@cstrombone There is one part that you left out. God cares about us, and wants us to make good choices. For Isaiah 54:10 says that "'For the mountains may depart and the hills be removed, but my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed,' says the Lord, who has compassion on you." So he does care, and hates it when we sin. As Jesus is God, he shares the same concern. Therefore when he comes down and you are doing the exact thing he hates, you would feel ashamed of disobeying God, wouldn't you?
If it's not more than a form of entertainment that you can responsibly afford, I don't see how it's any different than going to an amusement park. Btw, I hate gambling and never do it, but I think it's more of a heart issue that can turn it into a sin for some.
Comparing a $2 poker tournament with your buddies for fun to "other biblical sins" like "thou shall not murder" is proof that this world is filled with idiots. I lose more faith in people every time I scroll on my phone or watch the news.
It’s not stealing each others money tho. You’re playing a game. Who ever is more logical wins in the long term. Just like the most logical person should be the guy in the front giving the speech to the crowd. Poker is investing.. not stealing. Every time you put money in the pot you do so to get a long term return. Traditional investing with money in the stock market is evil(“root of all evil is money” (I actually think it’s a lack of Jesus in your life) so all you have to do to get rich is invest in evil corporations to get rich. Poker is the purest form of investing (apart from investing in your own character, family and Jesus)
So illogical. It’s not stealing. It’s work. Both people agree to work At bowling, pool, intellectual predictions on football or other sports with agreement that the better worker gets paid. No different then best hunter gets the deer.
You’re so illogical. You mention the word “work”? Everyone knows when a person works they get paid to what they agreed to get paid at. Gambling isn’t an agreement for both parties to receive money. One loses. Simple math. Your misuse of work is illogical. Just saying 🤷🏼♂️
Well it's a sin in two ways, 1. When you gamble you get greedy and greed is a sin. 2. When someone gambles to gain what they probably don't have is a sin because they don't trust God to get them through various financial situations...

Is insurance gambling, too then? Or am I stretching it at this point? 😅
I’m addicted. Please pray for me.
Gambling is wrong! If you have extra... you can help less fortunate children, not greedy adults!
Some greedy adults give to charities. Many casinos help the Indians with community services.
Is it absolutely wrong?

Is the stock market a sin?
The sin, is if it hurts you and others. Addiction to an Idol, as apposed to God.
No
Also it isnt really theft if both people agree to give the money if they loose😂
@@strm3253Exactly. That's why I said this guy had a stupid interpretation
It is NOT theft or a sin, when attached to reason and prudence.

How is taxation not theft, then?
It may be that’s the world , most things made up of man or of the world are corrupt
Agreeing on it doesn't make it right for God. I pray God opens our mind to understand this.

It's not; the guy is either failing to fully articulate his reasoning, or he's making a misguided analogy.
