I just picked up my black 06 GX470 Sport edition in Aug in Phoenix. It was a one owner with only 68,000 miles, no accidents. Everything is like new condition. I'm from Pa and happened to be visiting the Phoenix when a Ford dealership listed it the night before I was headed back home to Pa . I was at their door when they opened the next morning.and got it for $15k. Luv this vehicle. My days of switching vehicles every 6 months are over.
I just bought a 2008 with 140K miles for 12K$. Its a rust free florida car from Miami. I like how it drives. Very smooth and torquey. I have already replaced the headlights and have new leather front seat covers on order. I am getting the itch for a OME 3" lift with coil rears. Enjoy your ride.
You wouldn't regret a lift. Added boost in looks, makes you look like a off road person lol, But most importantly is it lessens body roll and nose dive. So overall better driving experience.
I think it looks great! Sliders, front and rear bumpers, more lights, etc will be fun to watch happen. I'm hoping to pick one up and start my journey next Summer. Continued success to you!
Thanks brother. All the changes will be done on my other youtube page Yelogx. Decided to start a different one so I don't jack my own business postings
We bought an 09 black also in San Diego on July 4 2020. It's for the wife and she wants it stock. Maybe I can sneak in a lift with wheels/tires in the future. Originally we didn't want black because it gets dirty so fast and scratches show up easily but it was so clean inside/out/under being a one owner, rust free originally rom Texas we couldn't pass it up. Yours looks good bro. Enjoy it.
Thank you too man. I think its so neat that it's a luxury feeling lexus inside but with a bit of modifying it. It becomes a complete off road suv and stands toe to toe with legendary models like land cruiser n 4runner. Pretty neat.. and yes black sucks ass but its awesome when it looks clean.
first thing I noticed was how cripsy those headlights were. I love a set of clean head lights and tail lights. Also dope NSX i love them, too poor for one lol, I own 1991 CrX SI and a 2009 GX.
yea it seems to be the most common one I hear and see on the forums. I forgot to mention, SCS f5 wheels and bigger tire thats first, after that bumper for sure. I am also going to make a video on a full correction and coating at my shop, try to showcase how good we can get this old 2005 paint to look.
I just purchased a black 2008 GX 470 (73,000 miles) from an older gentleman in California. The vehicle has 32 service records from Lexus. Unfortunately the vehicle is extremely dirty. The interior has a coat of dust on everything and the tan leather probably has never been treated. The paint doesn’t look too bad. I’m thinking clay bar, paint correction and ceramic coating to bring it back. The interior however is bad. This is a big job any advice would be helpful.
I'm on the other side of the river (Mpls) in a white 07. I'll stop in for some tinting in the next month or so. Perhaps it'll be when I purchase those sweet TRD wheels from you ; )

Looks great man. I’m typically not a fan of black, but I found a great used one in black and trying to determine if it will grow on me. How has your experience been with it as a daily and keeping it clean, safety at night, etc? Anyone have thoughts or experience doing an aftermarket paint color change?
I'm a fan of black paint. Harder to maintain but when clean they're stellar. As any black car they take lots of work to clean and you'll see light dust after 1 hr after washing lol. Ive seen some be wrapped different colors and they look pretty good
Just bought a 2006 Black GX470 this week with 92k miles. Super stoked to follow your build. I’m debating what to do with headlights also. Restore or buy new? Subscribed and liked...Look forward to your future videos.

I'm around 12mpg. As far as this over 4runner, I wanted a 4th gen v8 originally. Finding a clean one was a big challenge and looking back I'm glad I got a gx470 instead. It is more unique than the 4runner. As a daily vehicle lexus is much more comfortable to be in. I believe right now I'm getting around 12mpg. if you were to choose between your 4runner or the Gx470 which one would you choose? im stuck between either buying a Gx470 or getting a 2010-2014 sr5 4runner.
I like my lexus more. If you change the dash on the GX to android car play I think you'd find the lexus overall has a way better build quality. Also the GX crowd I'd just as cool as the 4runner crowd if not even more unique which is fun in its own right. From my road trips, I always found the lexus to be more pleasurable for highway and off road. However, 4runner platform is so big aftermarket parts are everywhere. At the end of the day for me I would have chosen whichever was the least expensive to purchase and the GX then was that and it came with a much higher quality interior.
Well...my opinion since I've driven both... tbe GX gives you interior room to carry things. So it can be utilized like a real SUV. A FJ is like a Jeep in that they are solid off readers but when its time to load things into them.. they are a bit useless. Depends what you want, but for me and my day to day I needed a vehicle I can load with material and things for my shop. Just my opinion. Good luck on the search!
the V8 definitely has more pull. More comfortable on the interior as well and feels more luxury. Otherwise, capability wise they both feel very capable
The skill is hard to get.. even harder to get when it's done well. Also, film is expensive. There are cheap dyed films, in this case I put on a ceramic film from suntek. It rejects heat and U.V.
