Good video! I've got the 275ah battery with the heated battery bag. I should do the same test and we can do a comparison on amp usage.

Yeah, That would be pretty cool to do.

Very nice video, so yes regarding the heating switch, some of customers reported problems with inverters/chargers not liking the built in auto switch functionality of the BMS where it diverts power to the heating pads via a relay during cold temperature charging, this results in small voltage drop during the switch off and some inverters will stop. So to counter this we added the external switch option while we work on v3 hardware of the BMS that will not have this limitation.
The goal was to use power from heating to counter the loss that is normal when lithiums are cold, actually once they are about -20C you can hardly pull more than a 100 watts from them, so while you may not damage them during discharging they will not perform well unless they heat up.
In our tests we left the battery in eco mode for over a month in mildly cold climate (50-ish degrees F) and it used about 50 ah.
    Thanks again 😄

Nice to see you reviewing SFK, glad you can get them north of the border more easily now.
Stopped by SFK last year on a road trip and was impressed by his R&D style.
Good battery and good developing company. Hoping he dedicates some energy toward a 48 volt battery to eliminate series wiring issues.
    All in good time.
Pretty Grey here in michigan lately.
Hope your getting some sun up there.

Thank you Jeff 😁 Your comment gave me a smile. I definitely enjoy SFK style I've spoken with their team on the phone very good people. Next time I ride down to do Skyline drive, Blue ridge Parkway, Tale of the Dragon and Nashville I'll have to go that extra mile to Louisiana and check out their facility.
It is also currently gray up here to. Come on sun lol

I know that LifePo4 can discharge in lower temperatures than they can charge in. Would be nice if you had 2 of them where you could do side-by-side charge and discharge comparisons with and without the heaters on. Obviously climate, location and usage determines whether or not you need heaters for your battery, but it's nice to see something completely integrated into a single battery pack.

That would be a cool test to do. I don't have enough equipment to make to that happen. I'd need 2 of everything. Great idea though. 😁

@@Roll2Videos Yeah, so hard to do accurate tests for that very reason. 😁Next best thing is to run the test on two different nights where the outdoor temp is close to the same. Might yield some interesting results!

Can the battery charge while the heating function is operating? 300w ie 228W ie 19ah/days at 1C . Not bad. At 300Ah it might last 14 days without any charge being required. The large metal connection cable openings ie grommets could be better ie more air tight for winter use. Maybe a foam sponge insert/plug to reduce air exchange/heat loss? Why keep them so hot (ie 20-30 C)? Wouldn't 10C be better (less thermal loss/differential)?

Yes you can have the heat function on when charging; if not, it will still operate like a regular head battery and turn the heat on if trying to charge below freezing. I think the intention of 20-30°C is that's the best temperature for LifePO4 performance.

@@Roll2Videos I think it may be the same BMS in my BASEN batteries I had them build last year (320Ah each with 4S possible for 48V 320Ah). Just a little FYI, BASEN's quality control sucks! BUT, they stand behind their products and fix the screw-ups. I had to rebuild 4 x100Ah batteries (wrong BMSes) but they sent me the battery boxes and new BMSes ready to plug in (pre welded cables) free of any charge (but $60 CAD duty/customs taxes which they couldn't know about) AND 10% off my next order. 4 months later, I just had to cut open the old ABS battery boxes and tear out the welded cell packs and reconnect/repack them with the new BMSes in the new boxes (8 hours work!). On the next order, they sent a 320Ah that has a broken bluetooth module (but gave me a free 300Ah as a replacement! 6 months later but without ANY hassle) WOW! $2k, for free. Sure it was supposed to be 320Ah (a third screw-up! lol), but a free 300Ah battery for a $10 bluetooth module QC issue??!! That is standing behind their products! They definitely lost money selling me $10k worth of batteries! I also got to rip open all the four 100Ah packs (the cells looked great, but were obviously rejects/seconds/used as are every other cell pack being sold to us from china).

@@silverleapers Wow, it Sounds like a hell of a journey. I perchest 16 230Ah eve cells from them. I ordered 8 at one time then another 8 at a later date. The second 8 had different wielded terminals and vent covers. First batch tested at ~240Ah, the second at ~235Ah.
I used them and built 2 packs of 24V tool box batteries (old videos). Moving forward, talking with EEL battery, they have a 48V enclosure for 230/280/310 on casters. I'm trying to get one from them for a video build. I like Bason but they aren't interested in working with me on UA-cam videos.
