This store was the best from 2005 until 2013. The video game section was crazy !!!!!! I bought all my electronics needs from 2005 until 2017, now the store looks empty , you can’t even find new video games on launch day here anymore that’s sad

I used to work here during 2000 and 2003. It was fun working there back then. Use to be crowded during the evenings, weekends and holidays. All the staff that I used to work are no longer there, even the store manager in whom I knew personally is not there. He was the coolest store manager I got to work with and as the person in whom hired me. Those were good times I had working for this company. And also I was employee of the month too given to me by the owners of Fry’s themselves. Just wanted to to share this story as an ex employee and it was an honor to work at Fry’s Electronics in Burbank, CA.

I remember the days when I would have to park almost to the end of the parking lot because it was full. Then I would go to the computer components and would have to wait with tons of people ahead of me to buy something. After getting everything I needed I would then lineup to pay for my stuff. The line would be quite long and stretch sometimes to the big UFO at the back of the store (before social distancing). When I get to the registers, there would be 10 of them open and the line still stretched quite far.
Trying to leave the store was another wait since the guy at the door would have to check your receipt.
It wasn't Amazon and covid that brought down Fry's. Keep in mind that at the start of covid, everyone needed to buy a computer to go to school and to work from home. My neighbor works at Staples and she said they sell computers faster than they can keep them in stock. Fry's probably didn't sell anything since they had nothing in stock.
    The cause of Fry's decline?
One of their executives went to prison for embezelment.
They were paying their distributors late, very late.
Fry's demanded that their distributors convert to consignment. Distributors told Fry's to eat siht.
After that Fry's had nothing to sell.
Remember that Microcenter (a Fry's competitor) is doing fantastic. Best Buy is also doing quite well. So there is still a need for a brick and mortar tech store. Fry's just screwed up royally.

@@dnlpark I remember. It looped around the outer perimeter and still snaked around in the store.

That was an amazing video. I think that will be great opportunity to show us how looks like other such stores, like Home Depot, Restaurants Depot, and etc. I'm sure foreigners will be interested!!!

I am going to miss this place. I wonder what's going to happen to everything. I wish I had the money, I'd buy the place and make it into a museum, add more exhibits.

I think they should become historical landmarks, to at least preserve the themed decors if nothing else. Especially since I've only been able to visit two (this one and the Alice in Wonderland one) and really wanted to visit the others.

@MWolfL I just went by last Christmas Dec 2021 and they building and spaceship is still intact. Wish I had the money to buy it. Maybe turn it into a movie horror museum or something like that.

@@wolf9walker Ditto. Hopefully the interior is still intact as well (monster-octopus, aliens, etc). I was recently wondering what Fry's did with the decor after closing, and hoping that either the decor was still in the building or at least available for sale to collectors.

For me, the Anaheim location of Fry’s beat all of the other locations at being too cool. It was themed to a space shuttle.

They went out of business for 3 reasons sadly:
      1. The majority of their employees were the king of all assholes on this planet
      2. Their website got hacked which prevented anyone from buying from them online. For some reason, they never bothered to make a new one.
      3. And of course, the covid pandemic

In my early years I would be there every other Friday, I would leave work in downtown L.A take the bus to the subway then take a bus from Hollywood to Burbank it will take me almost two hours to get there. I loved everything about this store it was crowded yet divided. the PC people would be all over the PC parts section the gamers in their own section. Fry's Burbank is where I became a Home Theater enthusiast. I would spend hours just admiring all the gear only to leave with a handful of DVDS / later blu rays and a Home Theater Magazine. Let's not even get into black Friday

It is not a WWII Jeep, that model came out much later. The Fry's in San Marcos, CA used to look much like what you see here with the exception of the Jeep & the hanging aircrafts, needless to say, it closed a while back.
