Me too. Have you seen his movie "Dieppe"? It's a ww2 movie where he plays Lord Louis Mountbatten. It's a wonderful movie. Victor Garber is full military uniform, you won't regret. 😊😊
I loved him in Tianic. He was excellent as the endearing Thomas Andrews. For I have read the real Mr. Andrews was really caring and thoughtful too. When referencing the scene where Mr. Andrews (Garber) says goodbye to Rose and gives her his life-safetybelt.
It wasn’t perfect but it’s 95th percentile in terms of Hollywood. Rebecca Ferguson’s accent in Doctor Sleep is more accurate and incredibly convincing.
I'm just glad to know there are other people out there that enjoy this character as much as myself! Lol Probably one of my favorite roles that got 5 or less minutes screen time. He just completely owns each scene he's in
Movies like Titanic is so cool because when you get older you can relate to other characters in the movie and you can see the acting skill from the older actors, and you realize how they really make the whole movie, it's like when you realize the importance of a great villain, we all hate villains, but not realizing they make everything else in the movie better. All these older theatrical actors with their sub characters really lifted the movie so Leonardo and Kate Winslet could fool around. Sometimes I wonder if directors like James Cameron and Steven Speilberg are just lucky, but I think it's more talent and skill, because making a movie is also a lot about subconsciousness, things we people never realize until we see a movie over and over. Directors are really intelligent people.
I have to say, as someone who was born in Northern Ireland, I liked Victor's portrayal as Thomas Andrews, he looked so like the man. I am a little bit annoyed that the accent was not quite right for Thomas Andrews who was from Comber in County Down, and so a little bit off was the accent, but the rest was perfect for me.
I've seen you saying this in many of these videos, and I'm always agreeing with you! His accent was off, but everything else was perfect. At least they didn't give him an English accent, as they did in the Julian Fellowes Titanic mini-series...
No worries. Not even Kate Winslet got the accent right for Rose. Considering Rose's character came from Philadelphia ... and Kate wasn't speaking like having one. Just your average East-Coast American accent etc.
I loved Victor Garber’s chemistry with Kate Winslet in the movie and I wish the love story had been about Rose and Thomas Andrews. I wanted them together :(
I too get irked when someone calls a ship a ' boat'. A Boat is a very much smaller vessel used for fishing, water skiing, etc. Not being a snob, it just is, LOL. Just an observation, no hate please, LOL.
If I’m correct is he the only person to work with both Sondheim (Sweeney Todd) and James Cameron (Titanic)? Two very successful men in different mediums of storytelling.
I remember when I watched the first time of him talking in a different video outside of titanic and thinking what he actually sounded like, and when I heard the American accent I was like God DAMN he f*cking NAILED (nailed being an understatement) the Irish accent

Thomas Andrews wasn't an actor, he was a ship builder and he was Irish. Also you really don't need to cast a person from a certain region just because the character that you're playing has a certain nationality. As far as I'm concerned there are plenty of actors out there including Victor Garber who know how to pull off another person's accent. It doesn't matter what the actual nationality of the actor is, All that matters is if they can pull off a certain accent. Where this rule that you speak of came from is beyond me, But I must say good sir, it isn't a very good one. The reason why actors are called *ACTORS* is because they don't have to be born in a certain region to make themselves sound like a person of that nationality.
Victor Garber is so underrated, I love his work and I wish more people could appreciate it too!
Me too. Have you seen his movie "Dieppe"? It's a ww2 movie where he plays Lord Louis Mountbatten. It's a wonderful movie. Victor Garber is full military uniform, you won't regret. 😊😊

He will forever be the lovely Mr Andrews for me. He was exceptionally charming and down to earth in Titanic.
Fun fact: Thomas Andrews was charming and down-to-earth too it's been said by survivors and relatives.
Victor Garber as Mr. Andrews in Titanic is one of his best performances.
As an Irish man living in belfast , his accent in the film was pitch perfect . I was convinced that he was an Irish actor
You could hear the undertones of a Northern Irish accent in his Thomas Andrews accent.
@@johnking5174 it was intentionally Northern Irish. He was replicating Andrews who was from the North. It was pulled off perfectly
I don’t think I realized he wasn’t Irish until right now 😂

I thought he was Irish when I first saw it. He’s wonderful.

I'm Irish and normally I find every non Irish actor using an Irish accent is terrible but he is so accurate as Mr Andrews
As the Protestant, upper class, Ulsterman? Methinks not so much...

He was soo excellent. “ Four but not five, not five” love that scene.

His acting made Thomas Andrews IMMORTAL.
He was great in Titanic. Amazing actor.

Wow he sounds very different from what he does in the movie he can really pull off a good Irish accent

Such lovely gentlemen!! And a vert good actor
I became a Victor fan because of this performance.
