Just found your channel today, and I'm loving every video (I also quit my Wall Street job about a year ago). I agree with this 100%, instead of "doing what you love," do something that's going to fill a need
I love the idea of crafted passion. It shouldn't be a passive thing that you wait on... instead, it needs to be something you pursue. Great video once again man!
I'm so glad I stumbled on this channel. Out of all the channels I've been on, this channel makes logical sense, then the other channels. I've tried the other channels advice over the years and nothing ever worked. I'm going to try the advice of this video and see if it works. Thank you for creating this video.
@@VincentChan I live it!! 😉 I was excited to read Angela Duckworth’s book, “Grit”. Highly recommend, lots of data! Have you read it? You could write a chapter or two of your own!
Awesome videos :) some of my biggest passions are writing and personal finance and i am trying to find a way to combine the two, so im currently writing a book about personal finance for young people like myself. im not an economist but because it's such a big interest of mine ive learned a lot and i want to share all these money secrets with other young people! cuz ye, we dont get taught these things in school and it can be hard to find information online if you do not know what you are looking for!
"Crafted passion" is such a smart tweak to the conventional advice of "following your passion". Also, it's insane to see what some of the giant companies we know today (e.g., Shopify, Instagram, Nintendo) started out as and how they pivoted to better meet demand & grow! 10/10 Vincent, you're content is GOLD as always 🔥🔥🔥
@@VincentChan The video was excellent! Top notch editing and content. I took a screenshot of the crafted passion cycle because it's so simple, logical, and helpful. My biggest takeaway is that your passion(s) should be informed rather than followed on a whim. Looking forward to your future videos!! 👏👏
I'm a nutshell you need to do what interests, motivates and drives you, basically following your passions lol. The key is to not define your interests and passions too narrowly, but rather look at what is at the root of your interests such things as interacting with people or doing research, or designing things, or travel and culture, etc. There will then be a multitude of possibilities open to you.
Believe it or not, i saw the "gap" in the black market cannabis market and took full advantage. Im out of that now but ive really been brainstorming other ideas where i can fill the gap.
@VincentChan I had a pending eviction on the way so thats why i went there. However, once i started it became busier than i ever thought it could to the point where i was able to gradually cut off business from the worst customers i had and only deal with proper mature people. In the black market, no matter the product or service, professionalism is definitely more important than in the legal business world and required because of the risk involved. Now i just work a normal 9-5 office job but eventually will be my own business owner when ive taken care of a few things with my "stable" salary coming in lol.
This video really helped me think. It’s been a year since I graduated from a program in a new field. I have my license and applied to so many positions and still have not found a job. I always imagine myself with my own business but I am so scared to take any small steps.
Totally agree... It's more about getting passionate about something...something that is marketable, you enjoy doing, and you are willing to put in the time to become a master of it. The good news is once you invest the time to become a master of something, in most cases, it becomes much easier (think far less time) to master other things and expand your skillset & marketability. This isn't something you can achieve overnight, it takes perseverance, dedication, and delayed gratification.
@@VincentChan Only one that I have ever known I do know, all buying into "following their passion" and not admitting their efforts were not fruitful. The phraseology of "crafted passion" I am not keen on, but those in your crafted generations might understand what you are implying. What I do understand is something implied... if 100,000 failing people are going west, maybe that direction is not the best path for achieving better than average success. Sidebar: If your investing sucks, hire a real professional. I resisted using investment professionals (who would have been working for me and not the corporation that they were employed by) for way far too long 'cuz they were taking 20 to 30 percent... like wtf.... all the while I was maybe (averaged over the years) making zero percent against the actual dollar values at the time invested, and then adjusted for inflation.
I agree with his premise. Following passion alone can be a kickstarter and a really good one. But at a certain point logic and most importantly discipline need to kick in. Discipline that leads a person to do things steadily, consistently and of course everyone wants high quality.
@@VincentChan always great because instead of only giving your own opinion, you show the viewer what the "normal advice" is. Thats something i rarely see on other channels tbh.
Follow your passion can work
Don't follow your passion can work.
The only thing that 100% doesn't work is doing nothing.
theres no such thing as doing nothing
@@WtahcActually there is.
Even this is called Meditation and you can also be a monk in the mountains if you want to live this lifestyle. 😊✨

Validating a business idea is critical. That is something I learned the hard way.
Great video. I tried both newsletter links on my PC. Neither worked. Perhaps it only works on mobile.
Big Idea: find a gap in an area you are interested in
I love learning languages especially French and Spanish. Any ideas?
I wouldn’t say following your passion is terrible advice there are multiple ways to be successful and doing that is one way
Yup your channel grew cuz you are Relatable+great content+fun and engaging videos! Great editing!!! Unique to you
Nice video. Love the story telling
Passion = " I want all now" , and y'know , Rome wasn't built in a day.
Thx for the vid Vincent... the big boys do manipulate the shit out of the Market..JP, Barclay's, Citadel..etc😎✌😁😏hope you are doing well..
im doing well mike thank you! how are you?
Another banger of a video from you. The density of high quality wisdom packed into this video is higher than that coming from the "experts".
What a fantastic video, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Most of your videos are great but this one is not in my favour.

This video is terrible advice: you should follow the fun whatever that may take you.
Its call being realistic and face reality . Your passions can fail you
I'm passionate about watching Vincent videos due to his pimple looking on eyebrows makes me want to pop it so bad.
