Bonnie you did a great job on this tutorial. I remember when I was in my twenties doing this stitch and I did use my broom to make it. I now have the large knitting needle and it makes it easier. This is a beautiful pattern. Thank you for your video.

Thankyou so much Bonnie, you have taken out some of the "scare" for me. Broomstick stitch had always looked a little intimidating I must say..One day soon I do hope to give it a try, it looks so pretty in the colourway you have chosen too..❤

Leighann Behrns thanks for your sweet comment! Hope you find this very doable. I've taught this to a beginner group in the past and they caught on pretty quickly!

Bonnie, I remember making the Broomstick design back in the 80's and I still have my broomstick needle. This brings back memories where I made an Afghan that was about medium size. Loved working the stitch. Thank you for bringing it back.
Now I can make a beautiful scarf. ☺

Thank you, I will be giving this a try, but I don’t know how to end🤔🧶

Jan Phillipps you can easily end this using rows of single crochet.

Wonderful tutorial! I love Broomstick Lace. Can you tell me how many single crochet stitches there are supposed to be per row? I have plenty of Caron Cakes and would love to try this. I have done some Broomstick Lace before but it had me picking up 165 loops!!
    Thanks!

There are 20 single crochets in each row. You will have 21 loops on the stick, and will crochet 4 sc in each group of four, and you will have one group of 5 loops at the end (1 loop before bringing one per stitch up). Yes, this is a LOT easier than using 165 loops per row...UGH!

Thanks Bonnie. Your instructions were very clear. I just wanted to confirm on the single crochet. I'm going to tell my group about it tonight!! Thanks again!
