Been to 3 concerts in Tarja era, I even have a photo with her in Nightwish tour bus, she was our original goddess and one of the main reasons Nightwish was something different! I love Floor, she brought another dimension, but Tarja will never be forgotten and always cherished!
She's not dead mate! Tarja pisses all over newer Nightwish material, she gets better and better, not to mention that Nightwish nowadays has only 2 of the founding members, it's not the band we used to know for quite a few years now

This is the killing video of this song....I like the video shooting to go close to faces. And yes...with this line up NW grew up to be big in the world and they created their style, sound and basics. Then came replacements who also can sing well.
This was the song that introduced me to Metal and that made Nightwish my favourite band ever. Love it

This one combined with Nemo and Wishmaster, was where i started hearing Nigthwish back in 2004, probably also where i started listening to metal of any kind.

The 'Nemo' video was my first intro. to Nightwish.....Tarja's solo work is worth a reaction. "Until My Last Breath" , "Supremacy" performed live at Woodstock Poland, and "Victim of Ritual". I'm sure others have their favourites to suggest.

this is one of the most played Nightwish songs live, and there is a reason for that..this is typical Nightwish song, mixing the heavy with beauty in a perfect way. And Tarja was\is an amazing vocalist.

Nemo, Wishmaster, Sleeping Sun and Siren with Tarja. Just to name a few. For me, Nemo is the ultimate Tarja song.

This was the second Nightwish song and vid that I ever saw, after their cover of Over The Hills And Far Away, and is the track that got me hooked on the band! If you want an older one of their studio tracks to react to, check out Nightquest from the Tarja era - think it was a bonus track on the Oceanborn album? It's one of my favourites from that era - operatic, heavy, with a real driving beat.
Third song but a second video for me. VIVA, German music TV, had used their live performance of Wishmaster for metal charts. Over The Hills And Far Away video at the time was the first Nightwish related result in... hell I think it was still Yahoo! search lol.

Oh! And Sleepwalker from when they did Eurovision in 2000. No one ever reacts to that one and I'd love to see it! It's softer, but beautiful.

The first song I ever heard from NW was this, it was probly around the time it was released, so 2004. And I`ve been hooked ever since. It`s such an epic song in every possible way =D !

That song is one of the very few NW songs I prefer studio version over live one (any) tbh. It just has that evil and dark atmosphere that is not replicated live ;) If you want to delve into 'Tarja Era' I recomend you go for the 'From Wishes To Eternity' if you want live performances. Most people will recomend you do the End of an Era concert but I would avoid it. Production wise is the best live release with Tarja, yes. However, it was not her best moment vocalwise. Aside from 'Phantom of The Opera', 'The Siren' and 'High Hopes', if you want to react to a live performance from the setlist of EOAE I would say to look for an alternative recording from a festival or something. :)

Yeah i love Tarja. Love Floor. Both women are incredible. Toumas, Tarja and Emppu were doing an acoustic folk style music. Music folks would listen to around a camp fire. But Toumas felt Tarjas vocals were to powerful for acoustic. So toumas decided to go a electric, more rock/ metal style. Tarja and Floor are freinds. Its why NW and toumas wont do byebye beautiful anymore, Floor wont sing it. But songs like this, Nemo, Ever Dream, i still much prefer Tarja.

I love Tarja so much and always😍😍😍😍 I would suggest..sleeping sun. There is a video. It's so..she's the original Goddess of NW. Floor is their second Goddess! I love Floor insanely so much!!! But I love Tarja first!! Sleeping Sun it's from the earliest of NW! Tarjas hair is short. I think you have to go in the military just after high school and they cut your hair short. I have the link to some very early NW. There's a small clip of before they were famous! I call it baby NW! If I can my phone to work I'll send you the link. Dude, if you're wanting the best of Tarja live, look for tracks from From Wishes to Eternity over End of an Era. She was on top form for that show. For vids, you can't go past Sleeping sun, but the old majic bathtub version, not the non operatic remake with the larping. The video is fun but the song is souless. The Carpenter is fun, if only for Tuomas's singing.
I seem to be one of the few people who prefer the remake video of Sleeping Sun. I actually find the original to bland and soulless, though beautifully sung. The remake version I actually feel some emotion from Tarja in addition to technique. YMMV of course.
I very much agree that you should check out more Nightwish from Tarjas era, and you should also check out some of her post Nightwish solo material, anythiing from the "Act One" DVD would be a great start!
