This was clearly a more top of the line version of the first generation model, whereas your other one was a bottom-of-the-line version of the second generation model. We had one of each, I may have noted in the comments of the CED episode, and yes it says L for both on ours as well, but it also had a lever to load and unload the disc, hence when I mentioned the fact that when you unload, it just comes up and grinds the disc to a halt, and I once completely ruined a disc as a kid by moving the load/unload lever up slowly and heard the rhythmic grind of the disc spinning against it. When I later found out that that's what that was, I felt regret and remorse over doing it for sure.
I’ve got one with all the features. The buttons are all below the feed tray. Got audio R and L, visual search both rewind and forward, hi speed scan, pause,/play, and reject. And a remote with more. Select a vision remote. Or, Random Access Control Center. Haha. Still works. The discs, however... I’ve got 6 or 7. Yellow beard is my fav but a bit warped. As it gets on it’s fine! Got Bobby Joe and the Outlaw. Linda Carter’s teats all free and... succulent.
What’s interesting to me on this unit is the CSA label and French language on the back of the player, which to me says this one was probably meant for the Canadian market but was diverted to the retailer in Florida. Just an observation I made.
Every time I watch one of these I think about my quest to procure a Laserdisc player. It's on the list of things to do simply because I love the format's quirkiness.
I had the same model i picked up at a grudge sale in the early 90s for $20Canadian and carried the heavy bastard home. Then it was a few years later at the stitsville flea market that i found some disks for it. I ended up selling it in the late 90s on a usenet for well over $100 American so i made some money off it.
Congrats on the stereo upgrade. I'm still rocking a SGT-100, only because it is the only one I own that works. I have a Zenith mono unit that does not play, also a SJT-200 that looks beautiful, but there is a function motor issue and it needs a stylus. If I could get anything upgraded it would be the SJT. But for now the SGT will work. I have a library of about 149 unique titles at this point. Most of which I do not have on any other format.
If someone watched the video closer to the upload date they may have checked the Sold Ebay Listings for this item and would have certainly identified how much our gracious host had paid ^^
Congrats on the upgrade! I have this same model and I must say this machine is built like a tank. Good analog stereo sound and I agree that the controls are such a nice step up from the original design. I was lucky enough to find mine with the original controller which works perfectly. The picture quality looks very nice on the clips at the end were you using any type of signal enhancement? Enjoyed this video and your other videos as well!
^This I'm also curious about whether or not the new unit plays better than the old one, especially when it comes to that sacrificial Three Stooges CED.
I looked up the address of the old store on Google streets, ironically it's a goodwill of all things now :D
Larry Bundy Jr Wow that's very ironic, also hey Larry!
The Goodwill is at 3235 Edgewater Drive. Bear Consulting Of Orlando is located at 3233 Edgewater Dr.
Larry Bundy Jr Pretty ironic indeed.
I found one of these at Goodwill today for $5, trying to find out more about it and whether it works or not.
Since the old one had no rewind, someone is going to make a CED rewinder. It will be the most useless thing since the DVD rewinder.
I think Ben meant Visual Search Rewind and FFwd.
I know, but it was the first thing to pop in my head when he said that.
Stick it in and pull it right back out. Great choice of words.
I like to say "insert into", LOL.
Ben's pullout game on his junk is strong.
"stick it in and pull it right back out"
Mark Harrison Meh

Just got one of these and when you power it on you just get a loud noise .
If I took a shot of whiskey every time Ben says "but anyway..." I would be dead halfway through this ep.
As Thanos would say:
“A Small price to pay for salvation.”
Now to finally see if Bendigo Foam & Rubber has those belts you need for it...
Ben's Junk, it's small, but it's got old school charm.
And Hall n Oates. #NoHomo

It looks like its in good condition. Whoever owned it before took good care of it.
Recently got one of these. Love it except for the fact the stylus it uses is one of the less common ones: RCA 154100.
Now he can play the Three Stooges in Stereo!
That is, if you get past all the skipping 😄
cool cedar disc I love hall and oates

You sound tire there Ben.
just out of curiosity do you find it plays better then your old one or does it still skip constantly

why do you torture yourself? connect it to a good CRT instead of a crappy LCD TV
Not all of us have the room for a tube TV.
