My favorite, in fact. Usually the Mrak-heavy song will hit my top 3 but not steal the show, but that's how it went this time. P5 is definitely Spencer's album, and Mark's style has always suited him well. Wax Wings from the first time I heard it.. I immediately knew it was very Mrak, and also be very vocal-forward, though from the first listen it's early into the record, and I didn't know the whole album would also be so vocal-forward. This song does it for me big time, and typically my favorite from any given Periphery album is the most proggy and I generally prefer teh heavies. What a band, though.. these guys just floor me every time they release music. I would almost say my least favorite Periphery album is above my next favorite band's best.. probably not accurate but I am such a fan boi. 😅
@@unsanitizedbabywipes6154 I sort of expect to be disappointed. As far as I know djent is more about the percussive one note 17/9 polyrhythm guitar riffs.
So I'm not sure whether this was from a clinic or one of his tutorials on UA-cam but I do remember him saying that he basically deconstructs power chords into individual notes, along with making interesting note progressions between each "chord". It's why your hear the instance of a chord every now and then. This might not be an approach unique to Mark but I heard him say it first.
Turned out to be one of the best songs on the new album

Really love the way Mark goes with open strings,he is a genius riff-wise
Best riff writer of all time.
I swear to god Mark must be my biggest inspiration guitar-wise
He's certainly the most inventive guitarist in heavy music today IMO..
@@dougcronkhite2113 you're absolutely right, his style is unlike anything you see in heavy music and so true and pure it inspires other to play
same bro, same.
Right?!
Jake writes insane riffs too, Misha is amazing, periphery has a mobopoly on guitar talent for metal right now
OUR PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED
Man, a collab between him and Aron Marshall(intervals) would just complete my life 😍😍
SO TRUE
Yessssss
Fuckin A if this isn't straight facts right here.

Imagine if mark wrote midwest emo riffs
Reminds me of the riff in Priestess, Catchy Count Mrakula.
Sorcery, I had this song on repeat when it came out
WAX WINGSSSSSS
Dude. This riff is my soul...
This song is called Wax Wings from their latest album Djent is Not a Genre
So this was Wax Wings... Damn
Talk to any guitarist and they will tell you this is some of the most difficult stuff in the world to play. Mark is a beast.
Wax Wings !!
Really wish someone could tab this out.
its wax wings on the new album
How the hell does he come up with these beautiful riffs? Maybe it's because I don't listen to a lot of djent but the sound is so unique.
dont listen to djent. youll be disappointed if youre expecting something like this.
@@unsanitizedbabywipes6154 I sort of expect to be disappointed. As far as I know djent is more about the percussive one note 17/9 polyrhythm guitar riffs.
Not djent. But definitely got a little bit of Sikth in there. Sikth + Meshuggah = Periphery is what I always say.
Check out wide eyes! They have some beautiful riffs that BLOWW my mind

@@eclipsekitsune4837 wax wings lol
I can see the vibes in his body language playing that one
Hi, does this song have a name?
One of those untitled riffs that might end up in future Periphery or Haunted Shores album, you never know haha
it will be on periphery 5!
This is going to be Wax Wings!
WAX WINGS
So bright I can’t see what pickup position he’s using
I **think** it's the bridge pickup, but I could be wrong. Could also be both the bridge and middle, he uses that split sound a lot
@@gaydar_static you are a chad
🤍
@@finnancahill2644 Can confirm it's the split between bridge and middle
Tabbed it out as well. It's somewhere in the comments here under the guy that was asking for them
should be marks sig instead lol
Is he using economy picking?
Mark Is the best riff writer In Periphery. Nolly Is the golden child. Misha Is kinda just getting fat.
Polyphia who?
Periphery is light years ahead from polyphia
@@siggeek503 100% agree. And I just started listening to them like a year ago
@@siggeek503 polyphia is nicely in their own area of music, both bands have so much talent i love them both, Periphery is my fav tho
Wax Wings!!!
