Just acknowledging how much of a pain car clips are for you guys to do! You have to set the camera up, film yourself driving by it, turn around, go back and get the camera. You basically have to come home twice; once to actually get home, and then once to film yourself getting home (or if you forget a lamp, maybe 4 times!) lol. Kudos for you guys for spoiling us with every aspect of a DIY, and great film work. The dedication is amazing!
Yeah I was thinking this, in the snow too!
I don't get the time investment tbh unless you are getting paid for car placement. Wasn't necessary, we believe you went to the office 😊
Took the thoughts out of my mind
@@jkardi9803 It's for the aesthetic of it, which is a big part of their job!! It does look really nice seeing those "filler" moments, it adds to the ambiance! It makes the whole video feel a lot more cohesive
@@inevera13 lesson to me. You post a muse, you get a patronizing reply
I'm surprised at how much of a difference the wood made for that lamp!! Looks so expensive and vibey now 🖤
Edit: For the brush holder: paint it a gradient from left to right, of the tooth brush colour? That way it's cute but you can identify whose brush is whose!
That's a great idea!!
Or You Could put a tiny Y for Your and a M for Mine... It's Adorable 🥰 Love , Love Your car, I Used to Drive a Red Car too.... Look Every thing looks Good but like all homes nothing is ever Totally Done... You Know being an Artist it's Always your environments reflexing your Dis-EaSe with LiFe Right Now..
Think we're All going through that... 😂 LOL ... Whatever; You Do it Will be Good !!! Always is !!! 😘🥰🎯
making home is still one of my favorite series y’all have ever done. i love seeing you find problems and figure out how to fix them as you actually live in the space
Not finished with vid yet but those small adjustments to the lamp made a HUGE difference. Shorter was the way to goooo. Nice job.
about your last comment on “i can’t believe it took me so long to do these” like, that’s just real life and i love seeing it in y’all’s videos, it makes me feel good about all the things i’ve been tackling slowly in my home, it’s just so rare to see this in other diy channels, so THANK YOU FOR THIS! WE LOVE TO SEE IT ❤️
Put the microwave in the new island/peninsula instead of up near the cabinets. Might take some getting used to, but this way it could be a bit more hidden.
I was literally just about to suggest this. I've even seen people build a custom cabinet in the lower cabinets that just hides the microwave so you can't see it till you open that cabinet.
Yes! An Under counter microwave. They pull out like a drawer
Yes I did this in my recent condo renovation and frankly having an under counter unit made lifting heavy/hot items out so much easier. Mine was visible by choice since I didn't want to deal with a second door.
Yes! I have a small apartment and mine is actually hidden next to my entertainment unit in the lounge room which isnt far from the kitchen. Its way less inconvenient then it being on the bench
Agreed! I wonder if it can be hidden INSIDE a cabinet or "bread box" like thing. Then if you ever want to ditch the microwave, you have more hidden storage.
Just some plant tips. Always wash your pots with soap and water, especially if you had pests. Also, some drainage would be helpful -- small pebbles or charcoal.
especially in low light areas I feel it's easy to overwater so having some drainage or an inner container with holes is a great tipp!
I came here to make this comment too :)
The repotting was hard to watch but with a few grow lights she could be okay 😬
And rotate plants (Pilea P)…so they don’t grow crooked?
I love that Kelsey is such a fan of plants, I can so relate! But I never quite got the point of Becky and Kelsey repotting the plants directly into ceramic pots? In French they are called cache-pot, to actually "hide" the plastic nursery pot the plant originally sits in. I feel like glazed ceramic pots would not let the soil breathe enough, even if they added a few drainage holes, and stones on the bottom, changing the potting mixture to a more airy one with perlite, orchid bark, charcoal etc (depending on the plant's needs). I think it's best to leave it in the original pot, so the plant doesn't go into shock from repotting and can acclimate to its new environment first. Repotting can always happen later when it is root bound but rather in spring time, in another plastic pot, covered by a nice ceramic one 😉.
And yes to avoid pests, always wash up the older ones with vinegar and soap before reusing. Great tip.
Grow lights for sure in the basement, no way there is enough light even for a mother's tongue to survive there.
And Kelsey: we've all been there. Bad plant moms during the pandemic, dark times! ... I so feel ya!!
It’s so weird to me that people have built in microwaves above their cookers, in the UK and europe they’re just sold as countertop plug-in appliances that you take with you when you move
In America that’s common too but it’s more expensive to make it look built in
It happens in Latin America too 🤭🤭
I’m in the UK, we always had a countertop microwave, but moving into a house where it’s built in above the oven, it’ll take a while to get use to
most microwave now have the vent underneath. A friend of mine has it and there's plenty of extra counter space.
Some double as hood vents and I hate them so much! 😂
The silence of forgetting the lamp at home is SO LOUD. I love it 😂❤
HAHAH true
@@TheSorryGirls where do you buy your plants? Do you buy them fully grown?
I really loved the editing in this! TSG editing is always great, but something about this video in particular felt so smooth and transitional. Amazing job to the editing team!
Editing was Adorable 🥰 So is Your Place ❤️💯✔️
Paint the toothbrush holder two colors that blend well into each other, than one person knows their toothbrush head goes on the blue side and the other knows theirs goes on the green side! (Using whatever colors match your bathroom)
Great idea!
Yes! I was going to suggest a dot of nail polish.
yessss
I have been loving the editing style of these last few videos! The slower paced editing really gives such a unique story telling vibe to these videos.
I think Becky and Kelsey should trade a space for designing, in each other’s house. Might help to give a fresh perspective on an area that you might not know what to do, like Kelsey’s laundry area…
such a great idea!!!
I feel like in 5 years everyone is going to regret their kitchen open shelving. It's going to be exhausting keeping that from looking like a huge mess.
Totally agree! I feel like a little open shelving is fine, like just one part of it. But making everything into open shelving is a nightmare to keep up with.
And the constant dusting!
I agree
Although the specific cupboard Kelsy said she would make open shelves might work
As someone that has minimal counter/ cabinet space, but a big kitchen, I ended up using cube shelves for storage in my kitchen. (I don't have an ikea nearby)
And with a dog and two kitties that shed like crazy, if I want a pot to cook in, I have to rinse it out first! I'd much rather have it closed up. It's not entirely messy, but having it closed with fix all of those ptoblems!
@@PabloEmanuel96 I think an open shelf there would actually be better there, just because the cupboard closes off the window. And then she could changed that weird corner cupboard into a straight cupboard. Aesthetics!
Fun tip I got from a carpenter...wrapping a piece of painters tape around the portion of the wood being cut prevents splitting/splintering. Less waste in your cuts. Excited to see the brain storming come to life this year!
The toothbrush holder is NOT too niche of a DIY. Literally have that exact issue rn. Also this video style was a nice change. Loved it!!
Lol I had to laugh when you had to go back to get the lamp that is 100% me. I love that you’re revamping the lamp to fit your space not just dumping it and buying something else. Great hack. Fifteen thirty seconds.
I love the new style of the couple last video's!!! keep up the amazing work
ahh thank you!!
the editing on this is wonderful!
Polymer clay, even when it's cured, can react with plastic in toothbrush heads, turning both materials into a permanently sticky goo. Polymer clay is also not the best material to put next to something that goes into your mouth. Despite the widespread belief, polymer clay is not a chemically inert material.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
With the kitchen floor, you could ways to a tile that “fades” into the wood. Like instead of a hard cut off of the two floors, you could continue out the tile with spaced out pieces. It’s hard to explain but I saw a few pics on Pinterest years ago and I plan on having it in my house.
It’s a good idea to clean your pots before planting new ones in them! You could bleach or soak in vinegar just to be sure they don’t have spider mite leftovers or fungus or anything :)
If you raise the cabinets all the way to the ceiling, you'll have room for a vent hood, a microwave *as well as* storage! Also, the microwave doesn't have to be above the stove, it can be built into any other cabinet or go above the fridge. And yes, I totally agree that the cabinet next to the window needs to be open shelves , would look so good!
Just want to say (as a long-term subscriber), the filming and editing is noticeably improved lately and is just full of fun moments to keep you engaged, so *chefs kiss* to whoever is the mastermind behind it!
You asked if you should paint the toothbrush head holder and I had a thought: maybe paint a stripe in two different tonal colours to identify your head and your partners. Could be a subtle way to add a little touch of colour while being practical :)
02:05 I love how you set up the camera while you pick up the lamp! Good details
I thought that too! Genius idea
When you have a canvas thats painted by you or a friend, I think its really charming to see the edges of their canvas, almost like getting to see their thought process. I really love this style of frame you made, it really spiffs up a raw canvas, but you still get to see glimpses of that painting edge. What a great idea.
Agreed. I love the texture, depth, and shadows of the whole unit. Very cool, and so neat it's from a friend!
I literally timed my takeout to arrive when this uploads. I was just reloading and it appeared! Added bonus is that I know it's going to be an epic episode of making home
For the laundry room doing wooden slats that cover but not fully - they can act as hooks too for clothes and make it like an all wooden room
When you get chives home from store, rinse them, trim a bit off the root end, and put in a small amount of water in a tall glass jar. Change water every day or two. This will keep them crisp & the tall glass will make sure you don't forget them !
You CAN also grow chives - many grocery stores sell the little live plants ! Which is even better as you can just TRIM what you need of the plant so it keeps living !
Love this video. Not quite done with it. I do love it when the steps are narrated vs just text on the screen because often times I am watching sorry girls while cleaning or diying and being able to hear what's happening is more inspo for me and I learn!
Love that transition when you pass the m.tape to another Kelsey haha love that painting! it's so gorgeous with the frame you made! 😍
Put the microwave in a cubby like in the cabinets of your island so you don’t have to see it but can still use it.
Also I love how the video was edited and filmed because it was fun and quirky.
Out of the 3 big projects, I think the easiest one to start would be the garage (after the snow's gone), then the laundry room, then the kitchen (mostly for shipping waits).
Also, can't wait for Rachel's makeover!!
Love how the lamp base turned out! Also, for the plants, I recommend making sure there's some kind of drainage, or keep them in their nursery pot and take them out to water if you want the look of the ceramic pot on the outside. For a low light area, it's especially easy to overwater plants since the water has no where to go, and can lead to root rot. I used to work at a plant store and it's such a simple thing I always advised people about.
totally agree :) we even call those ceramic pots = pot covers :) it is not an "actual" pot it should just serve for covering the plastic one or as flats for collection excess water
i've really appreciated the editing style / format of these last two videos. it feels more personal. love love love.
The production value!! MAN this was soothing. Love the creations and brainstorm and video!
ahh it's so satisfying watching it all come together. also yeah i agree with other comments, something about the editing of this episode is very relaxing
Omg I love the intro where you encouraged us to take this time to chill and relax. It was exactly what I needed to hear at the time!
hey - just wondering about the change with adding in subtitles that aren't corresponding with audio? i watch videos with cc on, and the cc not only blocks your subtitling, but it's confusing having the subtitles pop up and them not correspond with the audio that's happening. it's an accessibility issue.
I love the editing style in this video! It’s so funny and was so fun to watch. I loved the silent moments with the captioning. Wonderful video!!! ♥️
It would be beneficial to have the others kinda design a laundry room/ closet for you. Have them mock up options for you and you choose from those and make it a collaborative effort!
The lamp came out so good - i can't believe it's the same one! This is the difference between just making things and making things properly 👏🏻
Here in Germany a lot of people have their microwaves on top of their refrigerator. Just an idea, really depends on what you’re planning. I’m excited to see what you do!
Same in Australia 😁
Polish-Canadian over here, can confirm this is the best method
Wtf how are you guys using microwave then?
Most fridges in Canada are quite tall so a microwave on top could be awkward if you are short like me.
Isn't a bit dangerous, though? I always think of the possibility of heating a liquid (a soup, for example) and, when taking off the microwave, spilling all over me...
I am very clumsy, so I always have to consider these scenarios lol
You could totally have a hood vent. Just needs to vent out the exterior wall where your sink is. Plus, you have all that open space above your cabinets. That's where you could run the ducting to vent outside.
Actually doesn't even have to vent out the wall! They make vents that take carbon filters, so it doesn't need any ducting. (That's how ours is right now)
I would've watched another 3 hours of this 😂💜
With all those scenes of you driving, I'm imagining the commitment it took to keep setting up the camera each time, hats off to you for great editing!
I lived without a microwave for 3 years, it’s totally doable! Reheating on the stove or in the oven tastes so much better 🥰
You need to give us the stir-fry recipe. It looks sooooo good. // If you do make a base for the washer and dryer, put drawers in it. Storage is always a good thing. // Love that painting. It caught my eye in your intro. The frame is great. That shadow line looks amazing. // Can't wait for the kitchen reno.
I recommend against tile in the kitchen. You're always on your feet in there and tile is hard to stand on. If you've got real wood in there I think the best option is just to refinish it.
kelsey this video is next level, i love the mellow vibe and the minimal conversation w snarky subtitles. the sound is so good too, i loved that sound cue at around 19:00. of course, great projects as always. thank you.
The EDITING in this video is amazing! I loved when you walked by the lamp in the office and it transitioned to your bedroom, plus the tape measure throw to yourself!
For the kitchen, you could do a wall oven/microwave combo?? And then have a separate cooktop so you get your vent hood :)
Excellent point. There's a convection microwave oven wall mounted combo option that allows you to 🎂 bake 🍪,
🍤air-fry🧆 & use microwave🍛 technology🎉 . Sadly, they can cost. Start @ min. $799 USD & go way up⤴️.
Plus, you must calculate the extra cost💵 of adding a separate cooktop too.
😉 Knowing when you choose built-in appliances, you rarely want to pick the lowest⤵️ end model.
😯 Going ➡️small⬅️ comes @ a steep 💲price too. 🍲Microwave drawers start @ a sticker shock of $1,399 USD. 🍽️ Dishwasher💦 drawers are in that same ballpark.
Are 🍁Canadians being outlawed against gas appliances? In the States, environmentalists here are working to make them totally taboo. Wouldn't want to sink all my cash💰 into fancy natural gas appliances that will soon be become prohibited 🛃 &/or too 💸costly to run.
💚 Bridget from Cali☘️
(using my pal's YT acct)
Have you thought about maybe getting a microwave drawer when you do a renovation? They are hidden and are sick imo
Kelsey I loved the frame you made for that gorgeous piece of art ! It elevated the look . Hope you get to your kitchen makeover if the world let’s you , with supplies etc. Love your channel I have learnt so much from the Sorry Girls over the years ! Keep well and healthy ♥️
It has become a habit for me to watch your videos von Wednesday morning, 'cause I live in Germany. I start the day slow as I need to come to work later than usual. Sipping on my coffee while you tackle viby spaces, is just so nice! Thank for the great work. I have been a subscriber of your channel for many years❣️
Me: “there’s no way she’s gunna be able to make that lamp look nicer”
Also me: “oh wow it looks so much nicer after!”
every time :D I have learned to not be hasty in my assumptions haha
I loved the overall vibe of this video. I saw it after work and it was just perfect and calming.
I really loved the way this video was edited and voiced over! Felt the relaxing feeling Kelsey mentioned at the start. And I love the little tweaks you made to your home - those all build up and seem silly but make a big difference when fixed!
Every one of these projects were really useful & do-able for most people! I loved them😍!!
I’m In the middle of hand sewing four 8 foot curtains and this DIY solidarity is exactly what I needed 😅
good luck! How did they turn out?
@@Katrein the sewing is finished finally! Next is figuring out how to hang them ✌️✌️ but home stretch
We have the same tile in our bathroom! I put mine in horizontal like yours too! I just reorganized my entire house and have been completing diys and purging etc it has been a lot of work but so worth it. I’m about to start my kitchen refresh as well and I’m so excited
I just love Kelsey so much!!! Love her aesthetics taste, her lovely space, everything she says ❤
Ive missed the personality that Kelsey shows in her solo at-home makeovers, this series was one of the first binging I've done on this Sorry Girls channel and this is one of the reasons I stay a subscriber :)) Excited to see Rachels!
That frame is awesome- makes the art look so expensive! For the laundry room, you could paint the ceiling and all the wires! It would make it look less chaotic & you could make little labels for the wires if needed!
btw I really love the transitions and editing style of your videos ☺️
I love that idea - no big change but also a big change!
love the new style of editing on this! cloudyhills vibes 😍
I LOVE the format of this video! Shoutout to the editing team who always do an awesome job
The quality of The Sorry Girls B-roll isn't talked about enough. It's the definition of *chef's kiss*
An idea: move the microwave to a lower location. Get your hood vent if you want it!
So surprised to see your stove right next to your fridge!!! The heat from the stove makes the fridge use a TON of energy, increasing your electric bill, to maintain it's cold temperature. That's why these two appliances are almost never placed next to each other.
I am a kitchen planner and peninsulas in a small space are almost always the way to go! Especially coming off the wall like you suggested.
Sometimes it’s the small projects that give us the satisfaction of a job well done. So excited for this series to continue!
I feel like the laundry and utilities could benefit from simple ply walls to hide some of the pipes. And a ceiling rail to hang clothes. Pinterest has some great ideas for laundry including raising it with drawers underneath that hold the laundry baskets and a drawer directly under the machine that is a pull out shelf to put said baskets of for easy in and out of laundry from the washer and dryer. Even just hiding the pipes would make a huge difference. Make sure to seal the ply for the wet space
I had a similar issue with my microwave, as I live in an old house and it doesn't really fit in the kitchen. I just found a short cabinet for it to sit on thats waist height and below the eye line to make it a bit subtle.
Making Home has been my favorite series.
wow this feels so weird being so early
Do a microwave at counter height! either embedded or hidden by a cabinet door
Definitely very excited for the kitchen reno and I know that its going to be beautiful and a mood😍
i loved the editing and general vibe of this video. it was very calming and chill!
I have to comment: "claps in Canadian" XDDDDDD
favourite part
Curious to know Rachel’s story! Why is she getting so much air time compared to previous employees?
I think she’s a new actual sorry girl, but I don’t quite understand
Love the frame tips & the redo of the lamp...amazing! Also-can't wait for the kitchen reno!!
The editing on each video you all produce has such a distinct voice. I’m obsessed with it all!
Blown away with the quality of this video!!
ok but i've been lovinggg the editing and chill vibes of the vids lately, props to the entire tsg team!!
OK I love this new format…its somewhat relaxing. Keep up the good work.
The art and the frame in your kitchen is so beautiful
Great projects, Kelsey! Looking so forward to the makeover episodes; those will be so fun!!
what a difference these little details make 👍 loved the lamp
Great DIYs done around the home. Can’t wait for all the future projects you are thinking of doing to upgrade it even more!
I love the edited commentary subtitles great work also I love how you came to think of this new stand and manipulated the lamp
I love that the editing and filming lately has been spiced up! 😍 I love the new vlog/diy style! ✨👌🏻
Love the new editing & shooting style that you’re experimenting with! Very artistic and beautiful.
I LOVE this video, the storyline, the diys, the voiceover??? Similar elements as Becky's last video, and I'm obsessed!!
I loved how this video is edited. would love to see more of this style. the 'hi there, me' made me smile. thanks and probz to the editor!
watching your videos is always such an experience. super high quality and great overall vibes!! < 33
I really like your home aesthetic. It’s timeless and calm without being boring.
Great video! The lamp and frame turned out amazing! Especially that lamp diy!
I loved this super chill style of vlog/day in the life/cooking/DIY mash-up! more like this please
I love this editing style. Also, all the pops of black are so sophisticated. 🥰
