Great to find this video as I’m painting a roller door shortly however it’s to be done in an ocean mural theme. Same prep and materials though so thanks for the advice about what works.
@@paintingbyjosh lock down conditions are slightly being lifted now mate, hoping to start work again next month, take a look at the mirka leros as well, another awesome machine, I use for prepping drywall joints etc, take care mate and keep up the good work.
Super curious as to how this holds up over time. I know the slats of the door roll up on to each other and rub. I imagine you would have to respray this door every year?
Hi mate if you prep & paint it right it will last for years. I guarantee ten years on my doors and never had a call back. Doors I have done 5 years ago still look like the day I sprayed them other than the dirt. 👍cheers for the message
Top shelf mate. Ill be doing the same to my shed doors to but can u tell me what the actual differences are between.. Weathershield? Weathershield multiflex? Weathershield Colourguard with multiflex technology? I'm guessin by price colourgaurd is superior but wouldn't it make sense to use that instead of the regular multiflex?
Hi Mate. Great video. I use the same method with a primer and 2 exterior Acrylic over the top using Graco gear. Ive been using Acryloc" Galvanised Metal Roof Primer on all Garage doors and Colourbond. minimises sanding and surface prep being a roof product! It sticks perfectly to even unsanded surfaces and creates a very solid base for topcoats! 😃👍 Keep rollin mate!
Cheers legend I will definitely check out the Acryloc I like using the metal etch primer but I do switch it up a bit depending on the job. Cheers for watching & the message legend 🙌 🤙PAINT OR DIE
You make do with what you got I started four years ago with nothing and worked my are of to get the right tools for the job. Sand paper, duster, and a brush thats all you need to get the job done💯

Bloody top notch finish.. I’m looking at getting my three car garage done. What would a cost be to sand prep and paint be? Per roller door?

Looks therapeutic doing that prep. 🙊

What’s the wire brush size u used josh great video
Cheers mate, I'm pretty sure it was a 4 inch wire wheel 👍
what tools did you use? :)
Good video mate. Can I ask where did you get your hats made up please and roughly how much were they?
Nice mate. You know anyone that can do what you did in Melbourne?
Sorry for the late reply mate, try matt from hpgeelong 👍
Did u thin the paints at all josh
Hi James, never thin any acrylic paint not necessary.👍

Can you brush instead?
How much to charge for preparing?
Nice job, Average Price?
Cheers mate. 2k done in a day🤙
Deffo a Graff head 🌝
May I ask roughly how much would it cost me to have that done to my double garage door?
Hello, it would depend on the condition and size of the doors.
If it it galv you wouldn't want to scratch it?
I do many of gal doors still needs a sand/scratch and I good primer for the top coats to adhere
@@paintingbyjosh I'm taking paint off mine with paint stripper. maybe I should have just done what you did?
@@titiwhai yes I would have done it the way I have. stripping paint gets messy.
How about pressure washing the door?
What would that do? I was there to prepare and paint it, not clean it
What about us guys who don't have all those tools? I suppose this video is for pro's

@@paintingbyjosh "Sand paper, duster and a brush that's all you need...." Would you not need a spray painter to properly paint a garage door?
@@bbking0064 No you wouldn't as I said" a paint brush! I have painted many of roller doors by brush & I still know many of painters that still do.
@paintingbyjosh you can buy a cheap arse $40 Ozito 240v spray gun to get the paint on and if need lay off with a4inch brush every 10 rows...
Peace.
