    Can this be done with barn door rail hardware? They already are painted black when you buy them and I want to dry brush over the black lightly as you did to get a bronze look mixed with the black.

      Yes. It would probably be worth spraying varnish over the piece at the end to protect it.

      Severely diluted paint, mixed with a drop or two of dish soap. Been using this method to paint models for 20 years.... although, now there are paint companies that make washes...... citadel, army painter, p3, all have a variety of washes.

    Great job showing the technique. What's the object you're detailing?

      MephistosChan it was holding spring rolls. I thought it would be great for demonstrating the technique. I don't have any plans to add it to a prop build yet.

    finally someone that explains it exactly how it should be done whloie showing a great example. Thank you. By he way, aren‘t acryling drying to quick for this technique? wouldt be better to use enamels/oils?

      I've had more success with acrylic. But the drybrushing part should work with most paints. The best approach is to only have a very little amount of paint on the brush. You can always go back and dry brush it again, but once on you cannot remove it easily.

    Great tut, super informative. Is there any chance You've talk already or could do same well informative (like with flat surfaces) video about washes ?
    Or maybe You could give some tip, why my wash is not "swimming" down and stay in cavities , but act almost as paint. It darkens so much the object, I also tried thinning with water. I use vallejo almost black wash, I used it on primer , I've just tried on base coat with citadel spray fang colour , also with just regular vallejo grey paint applyed with brush. It just doesnt work :/
    Best regards

    but u can simply put matte laquer over the paint to save it and not have to redo it so often

    .....or...... you can actually use a brush designed specifically for drybrushing........ also.... it's called "drybrushing" because you are taking off so much from the brush, that the brush is dry.....

    • @_itsatrap
      @_itsatrap  6 років тому

      If you have one yes you could.

      It's A Trap! They cost only a few bucks....why wouldn't you? That's more the reason for excess paint..... having the right tool for the job is essential.
