On the hottest day of 2023 my BMW F800ST broke down as I headed back to rural \Warwickshire from deepest Devon. I was on the A31 in the middle of The New Forest. Honestly Saffy, you're on the road to becoming a legend. Every other Moto adventurer riding off tarmac wimps out and gets a adventure bike with big knobby tires. That's not to mention that most people heading to a ski area chose the less challenging option of bringing skis or snowboards 😂. I was starting to imagine some new extreme challenges like riding rocket to the summit of Mt Everest, or traversing the Amazon jungles, or racing the Dakar rally, but then remembered. @Saffy Sprocket also, if you ever come across obstacles on trails that are just a little too big to roll over, look round for loose branches or stones to help the wheel roll over it. Pick up a hand chain saw for your tool roll ideal for clearing small branches blocking trails it has the added benefit of warming you up. You do carry a puncture kit?

Haha, you were quite lucky with that logging road not to meet an angry forester, hunter or hiker. Normally those are absolutely totally 100% off limlts for motorized private traffic, by law in Germanyy. When mountainbikes came up there was even an idiotic discussion if those might use them. You might however have the advantage of being a charming woman on a road bike that just got lost and the guy shouting at you is your hero for saving you. If you are a good actor and can produce a few tears of desperation then everything will be fine. Doesn’t work for old grumpy guys like me! 🤣 Those road are not that bad at once you learn the basic skills and differences to riding on tarmac. Here i Sweden we have tens of thousands of kilometers of unpaved roads and it‘s those bringing you to the nicest (tent) spots. My local BMW club offers „off pavement“ training for all kinds of bikes, not sure if you can find a similar training in the UK. Just be careful with those gras strips in the middle, they can be much more slippy than the two tire tracks, covered in gravel and sand!
@@SaffySprocket I should have specified I had no knowledge about off-road riding until I started watching another channel Brake Magazine, as most of my 30 years of riding was on sports bikes

😂😂😂 I bloody wish I did, I'd have a lot less bruises to answer for
Haha, you were quite lucky with that logging road not to meet an angry forester, hunter or hiker. 🤣
Those road are not that bad at once you learn the basic skills and differences to riding on tarmac.
We have similar training in the UK, I think I just need the right motorcycle and tyres first 🥰
Off-roading is best done stood on the pegs, your arse and back must have took a beating 😮
It was a long time ago before I learnt to go off road 😅 luckily I'm less of a tool now!
@@SaffySprocket I should have specified I had no knowledge about off-road riding until I started watching another channel Brake Magazine, as most of my 30 years of riding was on sports bikes
ok, so which organs where missing

Do you do all your own stunts?😂
😆😂😂😂😆😂😆😂😆😂
Did you set out to make motorcycle touring and camping to look as miserable and uncomfortable as possible? If so, well done you’ve succeeded. If not, what is the point of your videos?
The point was to raise money for a charity which I succeeded in :-) www.justgiving.com/fundraising/saffy-sprocket. Feel free to donate!

I think you should have gotten off the bike ... scoped out your best path and then go through !!! anyway ...
I never thought to do it 😂 a few people said this after 🐧🐧🐧 lesson learnt!
Walking the path first is so overrated.
