Hi Chris, at my work a coworker asked me to take her tank she's not able to take care of any more. She says she's going to school and doesn't have time for them anymore. She's bringing the tank this friday, she said it's a 20 gallon long with 6 corydoras and 6 African dwarf frogs with fluval canister filter she says . Should I try to re-home them all? To me the tank she is trying to give me to take over for her is WAY too overstocked and not enough room. I appreciate any feedback.Thank you

The escapee lizard was a nice touch. Once upon a time I raised baby orphaned flying foxes, fruit bat. . I took it to local school for a special event day assembly in the big hall. My baby flew away from my hand during a talk about bats. Imagine the noise from an entire school of kids kindergarten to 6th grade. My baby flew for the first time that day all around inside of building before politely returning to my hand. 😆 hope Amy little story makes you smile. My kitty sounds like you. Sneezing and runny nose. My fish are great though. Collected danio eggs today

For fast fish (or really any fish) I like using a clear plastic container or cup, get them used to eating brine shrimp out of it, leaving a small amount thawed in the bottom and doing a slow partial submerge while holding it. Doing this every once in a while will help them get used to going inside the cup to look for and eat food. When it comes time to catch the fish you can use this technique to let the target fish go inside the cup and by tilting the cup up slowly you've captured your fish stress and damage free. I also use this technique to move my fish especially my betta buddies with the delicate fins!

QOTW: hot shower. Always. Helps by humidifying and the shower is relaxing. Then I usually have some Gatorade to replenish electrolytes and hydrate a little since water usually tastes awful to me when I’m sick. Also any soda that you like. Something about the fizzy bubbles always make me feel a bit better and they can scratch an itchy throat!

Haha, upgrading my Bristenose pleco from a 20 gallon to a 36 gallon bowfront. After spending 20 mins chasing him down with the net, his bristles got stuck and then some broke off, poor guy!!
So what finally got him out was when he latched onto a driftwood branch, I just picked it up, and when he got to the surface, I wrapped my hand around him so he couldn't get off and fall on the floor. I stuck him into his (very temporary) cup that way, and he just chilled out, eating the biofilm off the wood. When I was done moving the old tank I put him back, I plan to move him into the new tank the same way, get him to latch onto a branch and just take the whole thing out. Just gotta let it cycle first...

Chirs, I've been sick off and on for 2 months (kid started daycare). Keep moving is very important. I have a soup that I make and eat for days: chicken stock or bone broth. 1 can of corn, black beans, diced tomatoes with peppers x2. Rinse the corn and black beans. 1 packet of taco seasoning. Add shredded cheese if you like that. 2 cans of shredded chicken. Let it simmer for an hour. Grab some tortilla chips and throw them on top. Using an air purifier also really helps.

Hi Chris! I'm from Ukraine, and we actually have a cool trick to relieve runny nose. Many of us keep Bryophyllum daigremontianum at home. If you extract juice from the leafs of the plant (you need a female plant that has "babies" growing on the leafs) and drop in the nose you will make yourself sneeze excessively for some time. In the end you will have yourself a breathing nose. Works every time!

Im terrible at eating while I'm sick, but any kind of soup is a great go too. When I'm super congested, I sit in a hot shower with some white flower oil in there so you get some mentholated steam (we always have some for sore muscles from my chronic pain)

I had 2 goldfish in a 6.5 gallon, and I wanted to get them out so bad. For a few months they were stuck in that little box and once I actually had a spot to put it I bought a 30 gallon. After I had the tank cycled and prepped, I moved my fish over. They really enjoyed it, but almost immediately got Ick. I caught it way too late and now they’ve both died, but the tank is cycling again to prep for a new set of fish. These videos have been helpful in seeing just how beautiful tanks can be, so hopefully next time I can take better care of whatever I put into it.

Its kinda weird to hear everyone's first experiences in fish keeping, since I was a middle child and therefore my older and younger siblings got most of what they wanted so I never had a pet fish when I was little. The first fish I ever had were five guppies my mother forced on me because her guppies we're having to many babies. They lived in a small vase with live plants and gravel substrate and only lived there for a week or so before they got a fully live planted 5gal with hard scape. So you could say my "first" tank was pretty good, at least in my eyes.

My favorite things for getting over any sickness I have are:
Hot green tea with ginger, lemon, and honey (works wonders)
Hydration (lots of ice water, some Gatorade or pedialyte to help replenish them electrolytes)
Long hot showers for the relaxation and humidity
    Nasal spray
Healthy food (I found that I crave more healthy food when I’m sick, seems to help me feel better a lot faster). For me, this includes a lot of dark leafy greens, olive oil, and lean protein along with fruit and orange juice
And most importantly, as much rest as possible. Rest doesn’t necessarily mean sleep, just try not to exert yourself too much. A good mental state helps a lot too, so try to stay positive and keep up with the people that you care about.
    Hope you feel better Chirs!

Mint leaves tea. Mentol is a great anesthesic, it also helps to clear nose and sinuses. helps to aliviate throat pain and headache specially in a virose or alergic disorder.
Have it in your garden every time, make a tea, inhale the vapor and drink it while hot. Not gonna cure anything, but helps a lot.

My dad used to get the jar of horseradish out of the fridge and have me take a deep breath, but you can get the same effect with VaporRub. A steamy shower helps too. when i’m sick and i struggle breathing i just turn my shower on boiling hot, so you’re more focused on not overheating to death rather than breathing

this is so old, so hopefully you're not still sick 😂 but spicy food can help clear out your sinuses but might not be a great idea depending on how your stomach is doing while being sick.
soup, tea, mashed taters, and tons of ginger are my go-to

Mentholatum ointment for your nose! Its the best! Heals your ouchi nose and has menthol to open sinuses. Also basic chicken soup, the classic.

First of all my home remedy for every cold is honey. Alone or in herbal tea. Honey bee made! None of that man made from sugar garbage. Next I always crave macaroni with milk and parmeson cheese. My Mom always made it for me when I was sick as a kid. Yes I know it sounds odd but it’s my all time fave comfort food. Feel better Chris

I have an autoimmune disease that attacks my sinuses, so i deal with this all the time. The best thing to do is sinus rinses. Shirt term, Afrin will unclog your bose in seconds, but you have to be careful because if you overuse it then it becomes addictive and your nose will stay stuffed up without it.

I have a nasty cold rn too. Try peppermint essential for the stuffy nose. In a diffuser or a wee dab on your nose. Don't get it in your eyes though!

A 5.5 is tiny, fits on any surface, could be balanced with a single stick in the center without risking cracking or damage, it takes next to nothing to put together, you could do a planted setup in a 5.5 for less than 40 bucks, yet people buy .25 or .35 gallon fish bowls for 30 bucks and put something living inside of there without a second though...

Warm water ( as hot as you can tolerate for drinking) with honey and lemon. The honey and lemon help clear out the throat and the warm water helps break up the nasal congestion. Any warm drink will help really as long as its not super surgery or high in caffine. Also a humidifier usually helps with the congestion.

For fixing a cold, try having a super hot bath and then soaking yourself in cold water straight after (garden hose works well). It is extremely good for clearing out fluid and improving your respiratory health.

To relieve a stuffed nose, this is gonna sound rlly odd but: Hold your breath and your nose and then run as fast as you can around until you cannot anymore. Your nose will be cleared the next breath you take. Good for occasional congestion relief.

omg LOL I definitely think this will work, I did a few jumping jacks and it already was kinda clear. I'm afraid though if I run as fast as I can without breathing, I might get a fever the next morning LOL

TOTALLY agree about bristlenose plecos. They don't let anyone intercept their food. I've seen mine push away Amanos! LOL
With regards to the head mess - how brave are you? I know you're happy to put ungodly hot stuff in your stomach, but... if you're brave, check out a product called Sinus Plumber. It's a nose spray. Will make your eyeballs feel like they're burning, but it does a really nice job of clearing the sinuses.
