The truth is until the USA makes youth academies free like the rest of the world so kids from poorer families, who are hungrier and better athletes can get elite coaching, the USA will always be a second rate nation. The irony is if the Brazilian players had been born in the USA with their background, they could have never been soccer players in the USA because it costs so much to play on elite youth teams. The only reason the female team are good is because they are only only nation in the world who spends millions on a female soccer program so they are the only professionally trained team in an amateur sport.
+Delboy0 It's not as easy as you make it seems. First, it's impossible to compare the culture of Brazilian football to any other countries. Second, there are a lot of sports ahead of soccer in the U.S. Finally, it's not solely about coaching. Coaching is there to refine talent. Brazilian players don't necessarily learn how to play the game in an academy. They learn the tactical nature of the game there. Neymar wasn't made in an academy. He was made playing in the streets. I seriously doubt if there was a Neymar in the U.S., he wouldn't be found. The reality is that not enough youth love soccer in the way a lot of Brazilians do. The U.S. could be a successful soccer team due to their population, but it wouldn't be because they develop technically gifted players like Brazil, Argentina or Spain.
Steeve Cantave Stop making the same excuses Americans always use. There is nothing unique about Brazil beyond size of the population. They let kids play for youth teams for free like pretty much every country in the world except the USA.So poor kids are not stopped from playing soccer and you get hungrier and better players from poor. Please stop these other lazy excuse that America has many sports. America is not the only in the world with more than one sport. Pretty much all nations have more than one sport. England has more mainstream sports than the USA and can still produce good players. In England they have Rugby, Cricket, Tennis, Golf, Athletes and F1 are all mainstream sports so America is not unique. I agree America do not have a street culture in soccer, but isn't that down to the US soccer federation to create one? Iceland now have superior players to the USA and they have a total population of 300,000. What they did was create an urban street culture by building indoor pitches at every school so every kid regardless of background could play street style soccer. By the way Neymar didn't play street soccer, he played indoor soccer. Don't compare yourself to a traditional team like Brazil. Compare yourself to a team like Japan who like America are relatively new to the sport but still produce superior players. It is not Americans don't love soccer, it is more about America soccer excludes kids from poor backgrounds that tend to be the better athletes and hungrier players. America charges kids to play in travel teams, no other country in the world does this. Odem Beckham was a soccer player and played for the under 16 USA soccer team, but switch to American football because he family couldn't afford to stay in soccer and the soccer team lost a great athlete because he came from a poor background. I'm sorry the USA will not become better when most of their players come from comfortable backgrounds, like Bradley, Beasler and Zusi
+Delboy0 Youth sports that aren't free has not stopped America from developing talent and athletes in any other sport. Football is expensive to play and participate in yet many poor people play it and make it to an elite level. Why would cost be a hindrance unique to soccer? The difference being born in America would make to those Brazilian players is that they wouldn't play soccer. Soccer in America is a children's game. It is something that is played by less athletically gifted males in general. America has an abundance of talent in football, basketball, track, baseball, etc. People that want to develop soccer in this country need to target that talent pool. Making youth academies free could attract more people possibly but it won't make a big difference if Americans don't want to play the sport. The AYSO, US Soccer et al need to get athletes. Recruit them from other sports. Market the game, start promoting players like Gedion Zelalem and his path to Arsenal. Make a career in soccer seem like a viable thing to compete against other sports.
theworldisnotenough American sports are not popular globally except for basketball, which is a minor sport in most countries. So to reach the top in American sports is easier because it is a lower standard of athlete because it is only America's best athletes. There is no one developing NFL outside of America so there is no competitor to America in that sport to test your claim. In soccer everyone has a development program and it exposes the weaknesses of American youth sport development because it is a very global sport. Stop the American Exceptionalism lie that soccer is a kids game and the best athletes play other sports. Brad Friedel, Tim Howard, Jozy Altidore could have got Football, baseball and Basketball scholarships but chose soccer.American's problem in soccer isn't athleticism. The problem is USA players don't have creativity, technique or hunger to be high calibre players in soccer. You could put LeBron James or Tom Brady in a soccer shirt but physical attributes is only 50% of a top soccer. America has a problem producing the other 50% of a soccer player, like speed of thought, technique, creative thinking, improvisation and hunger. If Brazilian players were born in America they would not be as developed athletes as they are now whether they played soccer or not. American sports are one-dimensional and soccer doesn't let play poor people play soccer at an elite level. Your claim Americans don't want to play soccer is bullshit too. More Americans play soccer than Basketball, Football and Baseball. The truth is they need kids from poorer backgrounds just to make the pool bigger just to have a chance of getting better. America could get the very best athletes in America to play soccer and that doesn't mean the USA will dominate, because you need to more than pure athletes to be good a soccer, or Africans teams would be the best in the world.
The US has a very inconsistent soccer team regardless of who is playing. Brazil plays at a different level that the US may never reach unless the sport becomes more popular in the states...
well ya, plus look at the difference between their regions. Brazil faces more tougher competition than USA. MNT will have a highlight match here and there against top teams but like you said they are inconsistent

Disappointed at the result but it's not like we had the greatest lineup, the new formation and out of position players didn't help. All we can do is look forward to the next game.
I'm disappointed that Klinsmann keeps starting Alvarado at centerback. He's awful, and plays too attacking and is caught out of position very often. Against world class and good teams his primary focus needs to be more defensive and stop trying to be so aggressive in joining the attack.
+BryceStawski Alvarado is horrible against ANY competition. I don't see what Klinsmann sees in him. For Bradley it was Ricardo Clark and we all know how that turned out.
***** He can be prepared by actually playing well for his club team like everybody else. If he can't compete at the club level he has ZERO chance of competing at the international level.
***** If they have an American parent or were born in the USA they are clearly eligible to represent USA in international play. The same is true for all nations under FIFA rules. Putting two CB at fullback baffles me. Ream and Cameron are quality defenders but their speed does not match up against costa, Willian, etc pace. Yedlin at RB would have been more efficient
I like Klinsmann and the direction he is heading the program in terms of youth development and developing for the future. But, I find his tactics to be very questionable at times. I believe he knows the game well and understands tactics, but for some reason it seems like he goes away from what works and tries to experiment with lineups and tactics too much and it leaves me puzzled. Please, Jurgen, I believe in you but you need to get it together sooner rather than later.
+BryceStawski I think he cooks up strategies in a vacuum with no regard for the players he has at his disposal. It isn't working. After the Gold Cup and now this game I think perhaps Klinsmann isn't the answer.
+Jonny Appleseed It was good for Klinsmann to experiment vs Brazil. He keeps talking about competition among the USMNT. If he doesn't actually let potential starters get their caps, he won't know who will rise to the occasion. Plus, why give Mexico any clues about what he will do next month? Keep those cards close to your chest. The pressure is on for October 10th.
I don't get U.S. fans, why is it when U.S starts winning games, fans seem to over hype the team, but when U.S. loses a game(s), "It's Klinsmann's fault " or its a certain individual (s) fault, It just seems that some U.S. fans are glory hunters and don't accept that the USMNT is mediocre
Especially mexico, if they win its a damn parade but if they lose it's the coach, and replace him. At this point I think in the last 5 years there's been about 10 coaches. If they stopped and think for a minute how about blaming those players instead of the coaches. The new coach right now in mexico doesn't even have a contract lol and if he loses i swear they will get someone else.
+LegendaryDN That's the difference between US fans and fans of other national teams, most of our USMNT fans are idiots who think we have the players to work with therefore the coach is to blame according to them. But we DON'T. Our player pool sucks ass compared to legit teams let alone Brazil or Germany. In our case it doesn't matter who the coach is. 1 Champions League player and a couple of veterans aren't gonna get us anywhere.
+KenDaKingArrives But compare us to any team in the world this team has done so much in only 20 years compared to for example mexico, the 90s our asses were handed to us but at the turn of the century we were considered a rival, now after '10s they haven't been able to beat us in over 4 years. We are growing man Rome wasn't build in a day lol
This team isn't as bad as the result. It is hard to hide the elephant in the room. Jurgen continuing experimentations are starting to get on my last nerves. He continues to play different lineups all the time and players out of their club possession. If he loses to Mexico the heat will be on him immensely, but he is doing it to himself.
I understand these are just friendlies, but we need consistency sometimes. There's too much experimenting, ESPECIALLY a few weeks before a big game. The USA needed to, in my opinion, play the squad or a squad similar to the one they'd play against Mexico so they could see if they needed to make any last minute switches. I'm glad Klinnsman has transitioned the old age out and the younger talent in, but there's been too much experimenting now. USA fans want to watch their team win once every now and then. Honestly, the game against Mexico will probably be the tipping point for him. If they win, good. If they lose, the USA might be looking for a new coach...
For a team to compete in international soccer tournament honestly that team must have soccer technics and good dribbling skillful players who can hold the ball for at least 10 to 30 seconds in order to disorganized and disoriented the opponents thereby creating a scoring chances and great opportunities . Physically USMNT were fit, but mentally and technically they are not equal to the task. Soccer is more of brain work, mental tricks and tactics than physical. USMNT kept running round the pitch while Brazilians kept displaying the real soccer game on the ground to entertained the fans. Coach Klinsmann, what else can you tell USA again? Am sure he must had run out of excuses.
ENERGY FULL, STAMINA FULL AND POWERFUL GAME............. MOSTLY PARTICIPANTS IS PRACTICE FULL, SKILLS FULL, DRIBBLING FULL, TECHNICAL FULL, STRONG FULL AND POWERFUL........................... SOME ONCE IS EXTRAORDINARY............ ON THE HOL, WINER IS WINER........
Guzan is a pretty good goalkeeper. Defense needs alot of improvement before the mexico game. Midfield needs to stop loosing the damn ball to much and change the line up too Bradley, Zusi, Diskerud. Strikers with out a mid how you expect for Jozy, Wood, Moris, Dempsey, Johanson to get the ball. Jurgen is actually testing line-ups, thats why its called friendlies dont get mad. Also if you notice we started doing bad when Brazil sub Neymar into the game, he is unstoppable. Neymar its hard to stop for example against Colombia they where playing dirty on him, but our players arent aggressive like Colombia or any other South American team or Mexico.
Alvarado's got an own goal and a give away for Club America last couple games and that absolute atrocity isn't unique to his USMNT shtick. Why the FUCK is he here. Put in Gonzalez, Brooks, or Besler for fucks sake.
If Klinsmann seriously keeps bradley, Alvarado, and Orozco in the starting 11 against Mexico, I guarantee you that Mexico is going to destroy the team.
When it comes to soccer, the USMNT has no true philosophy, not 1 single world class player, and to top it off we have a coach who doesn't know what he is doing (but Christian pulisic is looking like the player the US needed all along)
Can't make defensive mistakes like that and expect to win against Brazil. Apart from the consolation goal the finishing was awful as well. Lots to work on all round I'd say.
Why do they let Brazil player blow past and then US player doesn't chase the ball down? Like, isn't that the number one rule coaches always say. If you lose it or mess up make up for it?
should there of been a pk on Brazil probably, but that doesn't change the fact that college kids have better defensive structure than what was displayed by these "professional" players.
Goal 1 - 3 guys in front of hulk and hulk still scores. Wtf? Goal 2 - No comment. Goal 3- Defender outclassed (not sure who it was) Goal 4 - 4 defenders in front of ball, 5 if you include Guzan and still can't keep the ball out of the net. PATHETIC! -side note- Bradley played horrible and needs to be benched..... oh yea.. Alvarado, piss off!
Okay, I know we got our ass kicked this game, but there is a positive to be taken away from this game: David Luiz getting pissed off when Danny sent the ball rocketing past his shitty haircut
you people act like we've beaten brazil many times before, mexico is NOT brazil, we're not gonna get blown out and we're not gonna lose, plain and simple
+Life Isn't Fair are you a Mexicab fan? You are talking good about them but you are also being reasonable/respectfull to USA fans which I havent seen from mexicab fans ever lol
+OG12 Did you watch the game!? Or the highlights. He set up two or three chances in this video alone. Plus at Tottenham he's competing with Walker for right back. A strong reliable player, arguably the best RB in the League. In the middle he's competing with Dembele. (Who I personally think he should replace..) a another world class player. 60+ caps for Belgium, and 5 years in the premiere league. Yedlin is an amazing player, but he's still young. Also, honestly, how many of the USMNT starters do you think would make the 11 roster for Tottenham?
what a horrible display by the USMNT. True that Brazil is a better team with high ranked players, but they should have done better than that. If this is what we should expect vs Mexico then we are doomed.
Mexico drawing with Argentina was pretty impressive, while U.S. against Brazil on the other hand..., all I have to say is that the U.S. should be worried
TheINFAMOUS2900 are you a mexico or usa fan? And Argentina had most of the possession against mexico but mexico played a really intelligently in the counter attack they were really dangerous and had some of the better chances but missed a lot of good opportunities. and yea USA should be worried
are you serious?? Mexico had control of the game for 80minutes, what did messi do before the goal?? NOTHING! or what about tevez?? or Aguero?? Nothing before the late goals
The men's team need to get their shit together. We need both our Men's and Women's team to be good so we can run this shit. And someone needs to bench Alvarado.
My god US played terrible. Klinnsman has improved their style of play overall but man. As long as i can remember the US has never been that talented or highly skilled. Their way of winning has been by counter attacks, corner kicks and free kicks. Now they actually have better ball movement and create some plays. Howard isn't gonna save you all the time. If it wasn't for him the US would get destroyed more often. The match vs Belgium at the wc '14 is a good example of howard's contribution to the squad.
need to improve on the defence so bad! jurgen isn't putting the best players on the starting 11. meanwhile Brazil has all their best just look at their squad neymar, hulk, Marcelo, David Luis ect. we were bound to lose this game. if jurgen keeps these clowns in the starting 11 with mexico well sorry guys we're done. look at mexico they have there best and are doing amazing! drawing with the best in the world (currently) Argentina!.
It's amazing that the US are playing a HOME GAME with more BRAZIL FANS their.

And because they already knew that Brazil would win, most gave up on seeing the US national team in shame

Qual é 😂😂😂😂😂😂
I understand these are just friendlies, but we need consistency sometimes. There's too much experimenting, ESPECIALLY a few weeks before a big game. The USA needed to, in my opinion, play the squad or a squad similar to the one they'd play against Mexico so they could see if they needed to make any last minute switches. I'm glad Klinnsman has transitioned the old age out and the younger talent in, but there's been too much experimenting now. USA fans want to watch their team win once every now and then.
Honestly, the game against Mexico will probably be the tipping point for him. If they win, good. If they lose, the USA might be looking for a new coach...
yes indeed, jurgen needs to put the best in not these clowns.
I don't keep up with North American football so I just want to know is USA and Mexico rivals like us Brazilians are with Argentina
Yes but not as fanatical.
Brazil❤
USA E MUITO BOM NO BASQUETE MAS DA ESPAÇO PRA MAIOR SELEÇÃO DO MUNDO BRASILZAO
As a brazilian i can say, what a weird match!
Brazil would conceded no goals if Cesar was the goalkeeper

Tough times here, when diskerud was the number 10 for the US 😭
Alvarado's got an own goal and a give away for Club America last couple games and that absolute atrocity isn't unique to his USMNT shtick. Why the FUCK is he here. Put in Gonzalez, Brooks, or Besler for fucks sake.
Alvarado had another bad clearance this game too that nearly cost us a goal

That slip and fall by Alvarado at 87 min. was pretty awkward...
fear and nervousness
If Klinsmann seriously keeps bradley, Alvarado, and Orozco in the starting 11 against Mexico, I guarantee you that Mexico is going to destroy the team.
Finally You talk with sense
Even at our worst mexico can't beat USA USA > mexico always

Lmao yea ok buddy. Keep dreaming. Mexico is gonna hammer USA October 10
hahaha what a joke, Mexico remains kings of concacaf, list the things usa has won OUTSIDE of concacaf??? list them

Bradley loses the ball to quickly
brazil is to cool to be cool
Brazil Hexa 2018
When it comes to soccer, the USMNT has no true philosophy, not 1 single world class player, and to top it off we have a coach who doesn't know what he is doing (but Christian pulisic is looking like the player the US needed all along)
Landon donovan
but he retired :(
Luke SkyWalker but he could never make it with the big dogs in Europe
Can't make defensive mistakes like that and expect to win against Brazil. Apart from the consolation goal the finishing was awful as well. Lots to work on all round I'd say.
I wonder what the score would be if the US went against the current Brazil squad with Tite
Mazrati lol
Eduardo Cunha what do you think
You'll never reach our soccer skills
But the usa players are not bad man
Lol
Why do they let Brazil player blow past and then US player doesn't chase the ball down? Like, isn't that the number one rule coaches always say. If you lose it or mess up make up for it?
for usa becoming a powerhouse in the football, they need treat it like the number 1 among of sports otherwise they will never be good
but the football is the number 1
and they are basicaly the only country who play this thing

should there of been a pk on Brazil probably, but that doesn't change the fact that college kids have better defensive structure than what was displayed by these "professional" players.
Klinsmann should get Johnston out here to teach those boys some defense,

when's the next time the u.s mnt are going to play
IF it was July 4th the Americans would be really embarrassed losing in their INDEPENDENCE DAY
Like in 1994
Now looking at the confederation this game looks like Mexico vs Germany 1-4 where Marco Fabian scored from far away also
Jürgen Klinsmann men don't have the enthusiasm the Brazilian team has for soccer to a point of it being worshiped.
David luis threw a fit when the u.s scored as he was upset from not heading the ball when it was shot
+Sergio Quero He woulda got knocked out if that hit his head.
+jaywill4ever no he just needed to clip it a little bit
Sergio Quero
You're right. He tried but his big hair just brushed it a little. That kind of hair is for musicians, not footballers.
The announcers said willian’s name wrong
Dat last shot though.
More Brazilian fans there than American. And the USA are at home, that’s embarrassing
I think USA played pretty soft, Brazil was too fast tbh. Altidore needs to bounce though. Other than that we still need work. USA all the way.
The us at least had the best goal of the night.
I think Raphinha's goal was brtter, but yeah, pretty goal.
Is 'Mix Diskerud an elite soccer player?

Goal 1 - 3 guys in front of hulk and hulk still scores. Wtf? Goal 2 - No comment. Goal 3- Defender outclassed (not sure who it was) Goal 4 - 4 defenders in front of ball, 5 if you include Guzan and still can't keep the ball out of the net. PATHETIC! -side note- Bradley played horrible and needs to be benched..... oh yea.. Alvarado, piss off!
That defense tho. Slow. Defense is a priority if they want to beat my team of Mexico. With a new, incredible trainer, it's gonna be hard to beat us😏😏
Americans, our defenders is ridiculous. If the USMNT stay with this defense, will be breaked against México.
Am I the only one that came here to prepare for Copa.
Brizil win cuz I love to stay there
Okay, I know we got our ass kicked this game, but there is a positive to be taken away from this game: David Luiz getting pissed off when Danny sent the ball rocketing past his shitty haircut

how the fuck is yedlin a starter?! he didn play one minute for tottenham at all lol
Not his fault tottenham bought him for no reason
+OG12 Did you watch the game!? Or the highlights. He set up two or three chances in this video alone. Plus at Tottenham he's competing with Walker for right back. A strong reliable player, arguably the best RB in the League. In the middle he's competing with Dembele. (Who I personally think he should replace..) a another world class player. 60+ caps for Belgium, and 5 years in the premiere league. Yedlin is an amazing player, but he's still young. Also, honestly, how many of the USMNT starters do you think would make the 11 roster for Tottenham?
Well, no he's at Sunderland and should get some more playing time
+BryceStawski *now
Because pace.
what a horrible display by the USMNT. True that Brazil is a better team with high ranked players, but they should have done better than that. If this is what we should expect vs Mexico then we are doomed.

are you a mexico or usa fan? And Argentina had most of the possession against mexico but mexico played a really intelligently in the counter attack they were really dangerous and had some of the better chances but missed a lot of good opportunities. and yea USA should be worried
Both, but technically I'm mostly a Mexico fan but by heart not a bandwagon like most national team fans
are you serious?? Mexico had control of the game for 80minutes, what did messi do before the goal?? NOTHING! or what about tevez?? or Aguero?? Nothing before the late goals

BRAZIL X USA 07/09
The men's team need to get their shit together. We need both our Men's and Women's team to be good so we can run this shit. And someone needs to bench Alvarado.
+joelle gillespie Why get their shit together? Losing 4-1 vs brazil is not bad for usmnt
USA has a lot of highly skilled players its just whoevers over the USNT never selects them which makes that player play for another nation
need to improve on the defence so bad! jurgen isn't putting the best players on the starting 11. meanwhile Brazil has all their best just look at their squad neymar, hulk, Marcelo, David Luis ect. we were bound to lose this game. if jurgen keeps these clowns in the starting 11 with mexico well sorry guys we're done. look at mexico they have there best and are doing amazing! drawing with the best in the world (currently) Argentina!.
