I have to say, when I first heard this song (it was one of the first Tarja solo songs I ever heard), I didn’t really care for it... but that's because I didn’t understand it. I do now, and I have come to love this song! It is still not my favourite from her but this performance is just so much fun to watch. You can see how much fun Tarja is having on that stage.

Alex, the guitarist, here has been with her since she started her solo career, so over 15 years.
Victim of Ritual is from Tarja's 3th rock studio album, Colours in the Dark (love that name!). It is one of her biggest hits and it is always on her setlist. The song was written by Tarja, Anders Wollbeck and Mattias Lindblom. The song name describes quite well what it's about. We all are victims of our rituals. We all have some rituals.... and some are bad rituals. It can be hard to get past them and move on.
Tarja has said that she doesn’t really describe the meanings behind her songs because music can be interpreted many ways and the listeners should find their own stories from the music.
Tarja and her band are very talented and brilliant performers. Excellent.

I saw her on tour this past summer and she's still as good as she ever was. Fantastic singer, humble and kind, and the band is top notch as well.
Another great review. An amazing performance. Not only is she singing amazingly while in motion but she is doing it in high heels as well! Again the contrasts are there in abundance throughout the song. You can see why crowds love her performances and love to join in. Tarja has so many superlatives but if I had to pick only one, just as you highlighted, it’s her control, of the crowds yes but especially in her singing. I love to dwell on each note when she sings as each one is beautifully controlled and very deliberate but natural. Whether it’s her overall performances or the minute details, she is truly amazing.
I have waited for some Tarja reactions. Like just Tarja without the baggage of NW. I enjoy your reactions so much. I listen Minor heaven by Tarja often. Her voice can be dominant, but also soothing. Please listen her singing in Finnish. There is some magic in it

You just touched down on the topic that few people do, which shows that you are a skillfull, and knowledgeable person of this topic.
Tarja makes it look so effortless - but people would not understand that she is doing the nearly impossible thing here. Singing operatic, or chest voice whilst jumping and dancing in that dress, on that stage, in those high heels, without it having a single ounce of strain - that is why she is in a league of own. Unfortunately majority of people dont have the mental capacity to comprehend this. For all of Floor's versatility, I have never seen her do anything remotely similar.
amazing reaction!! Yeah! Tarja also trains physically to be able to give 100% in her shows. I believe that Tarja does not have the recognition that she deserves. I was lucky to hear her live and a thousand times better than in her live videos. This woman's vocal quality is impressive. I don't have that app to make recommendations but I recommend little lies at the "teatro el circulo" in Rosario, Argentina so that you can see the band at its best (they do some spectacular solos at the beginning of the song).

Tarja like Floor, Sharon and Other European Ladies have taken their Talent into a High Development of Vocal Skills. They Make it Look Easy and Fun to Produce the Performance as needed for the Music. Music for the Adult aged mind Love It, I "CONCUR COMPLETLY", Time for the USA to Step up their Game and Join Party. Great is not a Short and Easy Path.

Nice reaction. But saying thay no one there known what "Boléro" is is too much I think... Many metalheads also listen to classical music, you know? About that live performance, it wasn't in american Woodstock, it was on rock and metal festival in Poland called Przystanek Woodstock (now Pol'andRock, because someone from USA had problem of using word "Woodstock"...), it's one of the biggest rock and metal music festivals.
Ok a few points but first I whole heartdly concur with your point on control and fitness. She runs and if she can she swims every morning.

On the point of Gen X well Tarja will turn 47 in September so yes she is Gen X. Just about 18 months younger than I am, so again I concur about music should have meaning. Its a stereotype that metal fans are stupid or drunk/high part or all of the time and know nothing about music. Or say philosoohy.
I am sure you know Dave Mustaine (Megadeth in case any don't him, ...but how they don't... Has read the philosphers, the enlightenment thinkers whose work the west built a civilization on ).
He too was angry about that stereotype.
His songs are about pain and loss sure but also about deep truths about human nature, political and economic abuses of power.
There is no rule that the topics need to be simple. Nor does the construction of the music. Skill, knowledge, physical abilty all go into the mix.
One suggestion the official cover of the Nightwish hit from the Beauty and the Beat (careful that its beat NOT beast) with ex drummer Mike Terana Swanheart. Sung live with a choir and orchestra. A one off event so popular they did it again a few years later and recorded the show over 3 nights.
I call that cheat mode when you have someone with Tarja's talents.

Try pronouncing her name a bit more like Tarr-Ya. European J's have typically have an English Y sound associated with them. Hope that this helps.
