didn't expect that. I guess the margin on shoes is better than bikes.
Trying to diversify probably given the current state of the industry
it costs them less to take a return on the shoes than on the bikes lmao
Not too difficult at the moment.
Bahaha
That not needing a wide version statement is bollocks. It's simply a smaller market and they don't want to spend the cash for such a variant.
Not one for me then. Crushed feet. 😮
If you need new shoes… I would recommend Bontrager Xxx road shoes. They fit my special feet 😂
My thoughts exactly. There are far fewer of us with wide or extra wide feet that they dont want to spend the mo ey on tooling to sell a few hundred extra pairs. No worries though, Lake and Bont are carrying the torch for those of us that need wide shoes.
Disappointed that it does not come in wide sizes :/
A friend of min that rides on a small pro team in Europe says that almost all the fit data from Fizik shows that most people’s foot shapes are wider, especially at the toes, than any of the standard shoe lasts of pretty much any cycling shoe manufacturer. Fizik creates custom show lasts for its sponsored UCI riders and literally ALL of them need or want more toebox width. Not necessarily height volume, but all the fit data is showing that the toebox widths on standard lasts are too narrow. Even for normal and narrowish feet. What does that say?
Just what the world needs … another $400 cycling shoe.
@@roa5359 There’s other shoes on the market for less. Take your pick.
Only $400???
329 isn't 400
Crap 😂
$329 seems reasonable by comparison.
As someone who has mega wide feet; I can't find information on the width of the shoes. so it's an instant nope for me. high end shoes are worth nothing if they don't fit properly. - Canyon saying they don't need a wide version just sounds like nonsense to me. I'm sure bike fitters have an opinion on this matter...
Try Bont. I’d say they have the most anatomical shoes
@@Slow.Smooth I've had a shoe fit and have Lake shoes now. Lake makes all kinds of widths. Bikefitters love them 😄
Lake
I have EEE width feet, and I've been getting along well with Fizik Tempo Decos wide shoes.
@@vrapan correct. I have three pairs. 😂
I tried specialized mtb shoes once. They're comfortable but the plastic knobs on the sole didn't last long. They literally disintegrated. Shimano soles are better, they'll wear out slowly but won't shed chunks like specialized. I hope this Canyon is good.
Will they come sized slightly larger than usual?
The shoe hurt on the early rides....WHAT, YOU EXPECTED COMFORT FOR £320? ARE YOU MAD!
Too bad, no wide versions😢.
Will prolly stay with Lake till retirement
Finally a SPD shoe, that doesn’t weight a ton 👍😎
OK, but will they actually be in stock?
They look promising👍. The Soles are a big plus since they cost at least 70-100€ and I think noone should throw away this performance of their shoe. Incredible upgrade. For which foot width would you recommend them?
Hi David, what kind of cleat do you use on that road shoe? Looks like a Keo cleat with extra grip for walking?
It’s a cleat from the company called time. They are very light weight but lack in adjustability
It’s a Time clear been testing their new pedals recently, review coming soon
Does sram own Time? Since lidl trek and movistar are on them? And will visma move over from speedplay?
Yes SRAM bought Time a few years ago so they've started appearing in the peloton a little more since
They don't look like they have replaceable toe and heal guards and the "over-flap" fastener looks like it's prone to stretching or potentially tearing.
I have a square shaped foot so the need for a wide version is a must. Bonts offer the best shaped toe box for a square shaped foot.
Lake - you’ll never buy another brand again
I have to say- i love the look of them.
Y3s, but the colors lunched now are boring…
Let me save some of you the trouble. The shoes won’t be available for eons. When your pair finally do arrive, something about them will be screwed up. Then you’ll fight Canyon for months trying to get the right thing, your $$ back, etc.
Nice review David.. I only use Lake shoes best for my feet they are an excellent brand 😊😊❤ Pete 🚴🏻👍
Thanks! I tried lake shoes years ago when they did carbon mouldable ones but nothing since then
wonder if their shoe QC is like the bike lmao. I got 4 completely messed up bikes in the box IN A ROW. gave up on brand with that 4th return.
Specialized, Scott, Giant, Time, Decathlon to name a few all do high end shoes, It was a no brainer if you are a matching brand kid of person, outside of Bonte I don't see really a huge leap forward from the rest
For shoes, shoe companies, including now Canyon, should make other colors than black and white, especially colors that can catch attention which both could look cool and is proven to improve safety.
I recently started doing much longer rides, and I had to unlace my Giros and wear them much looser. 1/2 way to 3/4 into the ride my feet go numb. Cycling shoes are incredibly narrow today and I have wide feet. I have wider shoes I wear for winter with thick socks but want to wear my white SLXs for the summer. Why don’t these companies make shoes for FEET vs what looks good. Side note: The only reason I bought the Empires was because of a flash sale and I got them relatively cheap. They’re size 46 and lighter than my Bontrager xXx 🤯
Sorry to hear about your numb feet, that's no good. There are lots of companies that do wide versions of their cycling shoes though so maybe worth trying one of those
You should get the Van Rysel shoes to try out.
Interesting to see what bike fitters make of these…
I like your hat how come are they not available on your site
I’m working on that I promise
One would expect solestars BLK insoles in a shoe of that price tag. But it looks like it's the cheapest one 🤨
Given the change rate here that’s over $500. Just bonkers
over £100 cheaper than my current road shoes……comfort is everything and they look the shiz…..great review thanks David
Hope its not as slippery as their seatpost
I wonder how they will age with that stretch fabric
The only thing that sucks about them is that color scheme isn't going to be available in the US. They always piss me off doing that crap. I love my 3 Canyon bikes, just wish they would offer everything here.
Are they Matthieu proof??
that is well designed system
Just wait till you see the price of their hoodies 😮
looks a bit like the new trek road shoe. I dont like the black/white design, prefer just white.
You didn't mention the weight.

Cyclists are their own worst enemy paying the margins on crap products.
I can’t believe Canyon still exists.
They should also partner up with Ekoi new pedal system.
lol new into the market with top price seems like a weird strategy - thx but no thx
Looks like a Shimano sole on the road shoe. I wonder who mfg's them.
thats what I was thinking too
Silly money 🙈🙄
The pattern looks like it's from a 🐮
White shoes. I bet you are happy. Sorry not me
It has some black in it.
Looks nothing special and pretty expensive too. I'll pass
Copy and paste Shimano shoes!
Looks real bad.
Did he just said "gravel shoes"? This is out of hand!!!!!! A cyclo cross should not have a new name. Putting a road handle bar on a Hybrid bike should not have a new name either. What's next? Gravel bib shorts......gravel energy bars.........gravel C02, gravel Garming watch...........Gravel brake pads, gravel SUV, gravel pick up truck.......gravel iPhone 18x.
There are already gravel bib shorts, jerseys, chainsets etc.. it's called marketing.
Cyclocross is a race discipline defined by UCI rules where as gravel is a marketing term for many other products without rule restrictions thus having to be called something other than cyclocross. This is also the reason why there is new gravel stuff all the time because it is completely restriction free.
There is no incentive to develop anything for cyclocross anymore.
Gravel also defined now by the UCI@@Sandzsteedt
Gen Z/shillers/influencers (unemployed) think that riding drop bar off road is something very new 🙃
Brzydkie te buty i drogie.
Canyon is just a marketing company. All products were built by foreign factories. Don’t be fooled.
you mean like 99% of everything? shocking
This is probably the dumbest comment here.......
@@BlackgoldTwinduck Giant and Merida actually build their own products.
@@Chunky246 Why don't you say something to show us how smart you are?
Nice shoes! But I like Specialized shoes more than any other shoes. I have S-Works Ares, S-Works 7, and S-Works Torch absolutely love them perfectly fit my feet. I also have a Shimano S-phyre 902 still, I prefer Specialized shoes!
