Just to the point. I hope to retire in a few years and move to a rural area. As a kid we planted about 2 acres in between apple, pear, and cherry trees. There were days in summer we kids never came home to eat till supper time. Just picked our way through the day. I dreamed of a suit and tie job my whole childhood. Now I want my boots, gloves, and a big dung heap to plant in.

Whoa, this is a really bad video full of bad advice. Potatoes, like most other stuff, like neutral soil. Depending on your base ph, you might even need to increase ph. I do and use calcium and magnesium carbonate.
Even worse is the next crap: Earwigs are beneficial critters that feed on aphids and lice. Do not fight them. The CCP killed all the starlings since they tought they ate the seeds and that resulted in an insect plague, trying to kill earwigs is as bad as that.
Please, remove this video due to the misinformation.

I thought I was chitting, but I wasn’t. I just left lots of little seed potatoes in a box in my greenhouse, cut some in half. So now the rule of two chits per spud - and the rule of wrist for planting depth. Nice and easy. Thank you. I like the way you organise your little container beds, it will help me plan better in bigger beds. First video I have seen that explained all those things so simply. I am quite a newbie and the dragons of the allotment committee have been at me almost since I started last year. I really learned something here, thanks again fella. 👍

I’ve watched hours of videos on UA-cam about growing potatoes, and I’ve never heard anything about the number of chits, legginess, or the purpose of removing any of them. I’m inspired to plant some potatoes after pulling up my garlic. I think I have some good info to improve my potato game from years past! “Hey honey, don’t bother me, I’m watching videos on chits”😂. Subbed.

I had no idea about the iron phosphate, I’ve been struggling with them so much the last couple years, they decimated pepper plants, sunflower, potatoes, no amount of spraying was enough to get rid of them! I will give it a try!! 🙏🏻

Great advice thank you. I prefer small to medium red potatoes so I don't remove any chits and usually get around 5 pounds return on one pound seeds, I use organic fertilizer also, blood meal, bone meal, and hardwood ash, I also compost and use worm castings.
