yes you can get just as loud for sure esp as long as like you said you run enough for the application but cca does get hotter and wont last as long as solid copper but i do honestly think knukoncepts makes some of the best cca but only have 1/0 guage
You’re the only person I’ve seen be honest about it. Everytime I show someone my build and that it’s pushing 15k watts they love it. Soon as they realize it’s cca here comes the fear mongering. “Ohhh it’s gonna burn your truck down”… really?? Have you seen it happen?? “Well I heard” No! Have you seen it happen? 🤣🤣
I run 2 JBL club A 1000.1 gain matched on per each side of voicecoil ..I run a single cca 4 gauge from my reserve batteries to my amps and I dont have any problems....It gets loud and pushes my 18 great!
You and Debbie are insperational from couples working together all the way to setting gains on amps. Their ain't to many people out there like y'all. Definitely appreciate both of you guys and y'all's builds. Thank you for these videos I go back often and recheck myself with these videos. Can't wait to see how the blazers doors come out
I have knukonceptz 0 gauge KCA amp kit running my 2k rms amp. Also bought a second 0 gauge KCA kit and used it for my big 3 upgrade. Works amazing for being CCA.
Man I've had people comment on my wire soo much and try to tell me I'm not running enough. I have a 3k amp JP23V2 with a 300A recommended fuse rating running with 2-2awg runs of welding cable fused at 150A each run. The 2AWG can handle over 200A at my 10' runs. I did this to avoid cutting my firewall because I had 2 open 1/2" grommets already from factory and got the 2awg free at work lol. I'm going to double the amp up though and go to 2 runs of 1/0 Knuconceptz collosus because it would carry 400A+ at ten feet. To many people don't actually understand this stuff and just regurgitate the lies they hear on FB and elsewhere. I recently found your channel and really dig the content you put out. No frills just info based on experience. I don't double up like you I've always used 25% overkill because that's what UL508a requires for certified industrial control panels I work with, so I figure that's a good number is in any other situation.
That's exactly what I thought, when Steve did the test, me personally planning on ofc big3 front to back 1 run + - and double cca for back for around 3000w total, not the biggest system but I understand the power aspect thanks for the vid, it confirms what I thought
Glad I found this video finally some one talking common sense. Been in car audio for over twenty years and yeah it's gone places I would have never thought of but unless your building a SPL or a demo car and you got 30 grand worth of stuff in it don't waste your money on bullshit you don't need
My house has a 100 amp panel. lol yeah its 240v so its got more potential but an amp is an amp. 800 amps is crazy. I thought your take on cca was spot on. You have to wire for the application. All you are doing is moving electrons from one area to another. Give enough highway and it will happen.
Can't use that on amplifiers it makes the wire lugs come apart way way to easily I put a Pro Breeze Dehumidifier there only 14 bucks on Amazon works perfect
I ran American Bass CCA 0/1 (5,145 strand) for almost 2 years. i replaced with ofc because i wanted to run more power and use same amount of runs. i used double runs of AB cca, 250 amps per 20 foot run on Taramps Smart 5. now i have double runs of Rhyno (RAW) OFC 0/1 on VFL Comp 8k, 400 amps per 20 foot run (5,194 strand count). The video by SMD using CCA vs OFC also fails to mention that if building on budget it is way cheaper to buy 2 rolls of cca and do double then 1 run of OFC. The American Bass wire i used was $85/50ft roll. The SHCA or D4S OFC is $250/50ft roll. you can run triple runs good for 750 amps or a single run good for 350-400 amps... There was also ONLY a 300 watt difference between CCA and OFC. If you arent competing or dont anticipate owning car for more then couple years, just grab the CCA.
CCA and welding cable both work. Ampacity is key...ofc is more efficient by cross sectional area of course but do what works for your wallet. Dielectric grease reduces corrosion.
decided to run oversized cca for subs only but for power its OFC only !!!!! and like you said have enuff wire for your aplication kinda comon sence tho and my speaker wire is 8awg cca wich is more than enuff for speaker voltege/wattts and i can afford ofc i have 2 runs of 0/1under my truck front to the back seat up into the cab with gromets and all ofc to both batts and amps and grounds
I only run knuconceptz battery cables. The kolossus 1/0 has over 5000 strands of tinned ofc running through them. Definitely cheaper than most competitors and it's a higher quality. Never used the RCA's since I've had tons of monster cables RCA's from the last 20+ years 😂. Great video 👍
but with this it all comes down to science. both carry current and are rated for amperage by ft. yes the OFC will carry more amperage. but by using enough runs for the current you'll be using, it really doesn't matter.. it's been proven..
I would like to add i built my suburban on a budget. I was told mine would burn down. I have 3 runs front to back 1 to my front battery and 3 to my back 2 batts. I have 3 grounds front to back and 2 to the frame front and rear. Did that all for 300.00 and if it would have been ofc od have been broke 😂 im running a 400amp alt and a db4000.1 at .5 on 2 crossfire c7 series 15s im also running j.y cca 12gage on my speakers i have yet to have a failure. My lugs are all sealed end lugs that are soldered and crimped with quality heat shrink and im even running under my vehicle and not through it. I try to tell people exactly what you said and truth is they only hear what they want to. Very well said Jerry
Yep I agree !!!! I also don't run all them dam fuses out back as well I have a fire extinguisher I got 1 300 under the hood tho bout to redo the set up so it might change
Honestly I don’t see what would make a difference it would be helping the ofc carry the power back just splitting it between the 2 it’s not connect inline with the ofc
Yea I jus ordered 2 kits one 0gauge for my mono block and a 4gauge ofc for my 4channe I thought about welding cable but it's 8 dollars a foot right now
Glad you made this. Most hobbies have people who so desperately want to look knowledgeable they repeat nonsense as fact. Then there are the people with a marketing agenda. I rarely take advice on blind faith from someone that is selling goods or services related to the item in question.
great video! I wish someone would make a video similar to Steve's video and use the correct amount of runs of cca and show the results. all the videos on UA-cam are biased or a sales gimmick to sale ofc.
Reminds me of a friend that ran two power acoustic 360s , old early 90s amp with 25 amp fuse , two of them on 16 gauge radio shack speaker wire ,on a 20 foot run , crazy stupid melted the wire into the carpet, and was lucky his car didn’t catch fire
The problem with CCA is that over time it will go through MANY heat cycles. Eventually the aluminum will become very brittle, especially at hard bends or any place there's weight or pressure on the wire. When the aluminum gets brittle enough it will crumble. At that point it may still be able to conduct electricity through it but the resistance is extreme. This is the reality I experienced years ago using CCA wire for my car audio build. The wire got so hot the carpet started smoldering and would have certainly caught fire if my windows had been down as I wouldn't have smelled the smoke. Do what you want, buy what you want, use what you want. As for me, I will never use CCA for anything except jumper cables. CCA is dangerous, bottom line. You haven't had any issues YET. Keep using CCA and eventually you WILL. They say there's two kinds of motorcycle riders, those who have fallen and those who will. Well, there's two kinds of CCA users, those who've had problems with it and those who will. Then there’s the whole "no fuses" thing. WTF?!
Any reason you DIDNT go with quad runs to each amp? And I like how you keep it versatile, extra wire there and none of it is zip tied together, still neat, just not irritating in case something needs moved around everything can move freely
Did you really just say if Steve Meade would have ran double the cable he could’ve ran the same current 😂. So buying twice as much wore that cost 80% as much makes sense to you 😂😂. Guess someone who can’t stop smoking long enough to make a video I can’t expect any less 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I just got watching Your video and I got a question I have a 2,800 watt boss chaos 4 channel and I just bought me skar audio 12 dual 2,400 watts and when I turn my input on high on my amp and try try to turn my bass up my amp goes to protection mode idk if I should get a 0 gauge ofc because I got a 4 gauge wire what you think it is
Nothing beats knowledge from someone who has been applying it for years or even decades. Thank You brotha.
Man great video i was looking for some information about the CCA AND OFC wiring, and yes i seen Steve Meade video.
I like knuconceptz that’s where I bought my first ofc 1/0 wire now I run ground and pound

But my thing though is if you plan on doing multiple runs of CCA why not just spend a little extra? Do one run of OFC and do it right the first time?
That's exactly what I thought, when Steve did the test, me personally planning on ofc big3 front to back 1 run + - and double cca for back for around 3000w total, not the biggest system but I understand the power aspect thanks for the vid, it confirms what I thought

For the record... It was 15’ -Not a nut hugger either way (car audio since 1997)
These folks claiming CCA is trash are probably the same ones that swear gold plated RCAs sound better
Ofc is just slightly more efficient and has slightly better corrosion resistance.
Can you hear the difference? No.
Thank you for the knowledge!
they make a corrosion resistance grease for aluminum wire. lowes /hd will have it . its for service connection wires to your meter box or feeder panel
Can't use that on amplifiers it makes the wire lugs come apart way way to easily I put a Pro Breeze Dehumidifier there only 14 bucks on Amazon works perfect
What brand welding lead u use

They don't have to agree. It's literally science an physics. Can't argue with reality 😂
Now I am curious about Rotella!
CCA and welding cable both work. Ampacity is key...ofc is more efficient by cross sectional area of course but do what works for your wallet. Dielectric grease reduces corrosion.
gained a sub cca is in my build. I did the math and doubled it. let them hate and we can save some cash today
I run tinned 4/0 copper. Good ole marine grade stuff.

Surely right? I'm also curious
